The Mother/Daughter Polynesian Surprise **NEW 5/1 I'm back!

My dad and step-mom just got back from their Disney visit late last night. They brought back the most beautiful woven throw for me

Moving right along, here are the plans for our first two days:

Let it be known that my mom has no decision in this process. It's either my way or the highway! pirate: No, seriously. I show her the plans and if she likes it, good. If she doesn't, I change it.

Wolfgang Puck Express is something new. We have never eaten here. I thought it would make a good start for our first meal in Disney. I'd much rather eat there than at the food court at ASMu :crazy2: From what I've read, this place doesn't disappoint.

We'll be forced to eat at Intermission Food Court the next morning, since we won't be getting our groceries and fridge until we check into Pop.

I'd like to convince my mom to get on Sum of All Thrills. I may need to blindfold her to accomplish this :scratchin

Our room requests at Pop are: Building 3 (Lady), Lakeview, High Floor - Let's see if they accomodate my requests. If not, I'll just tell them I'm a TA again. It worked wonders the last time :lmao:

Hoping to get a ride on either Space Mountain or Splash Mountain before dinner. My mom will probably sit out these rides too...

Dinner will be at Tony's Town Square I tried this place last time it was okay. Really, I'm just going back for the Pistachio Creme Brulee :thumbsup2

Lastly, for our first full day we'll get to enjoy SpectroMagic and Wishes. As you can see, I've already singled out some spots to watch. I'm going to miss Spectro when they get rid of it in the summer. Does Disney plan on bringing it back at the end of the summer?

OH Goody, goody, goody!! That is so creative; and the pin was a perfect, economical choice!! I love it!

Thanks Leisa! :) I was looking at all these sites that did custom gift baskets. One popped up that had a resort theme with pins, magnets, stuffed animals and other paraphernalia related to a particular resort. I figured, instead of bombarding her with stuff she doesn't really need, I'd get her the Poly resort pin and put it with the poem and a flower leia on the table or maybe the bathroom counter (exact location TBD)

Very creative poem. She is going to love it!:thumbsup2:hug:

I can't wait to spring the surprise on her! :yay:

Very nice jenbear!

Thanks Glen!

That throw is beautiful!

Your plans look good to me. I've been meaning to ask, how do you get your itineraries on the DIS? Do you take a screen shot and paste it in paint?

I'm doing the same thing with my mom: make the plans, ask her what she thinks, make changes accordingly.

The ASMu food court isn't all that awful, but I'm sure WPE will be awesome!

Also, Summer Nightastic is only supposed to go until August 14th.

It couldn't possibly compare to the quilts Liesa makes.

It's rather complicated. I use a Mac, first of all. So first I create the itinerary using Pages. Then export the document as a PDF. I then open the PDF in Preview. After that, I open each page in a new window in Preview and save it as a JPEG. Finally, I upload them and put them on the DIS! Did you catch all that?

It works wonders, doesn't it?

I've read mixed reviews. I wouldn't want to eat there for dinner. Breakfast would be okay. Can't wait to try WPE!

Also, Summer Nightastic is only supposed to go until August 14th.

That's good news. I didn't know whether or not it had an end date.

Phew. What a week it's been. Today I booked a great client of mine on a two week Disney vacation, one week at CSR with dining and gift card promo. Another week at WL with dining on summer room only promo. Can I just say "Can I come?" :lmao: She recently broke her foot so she had to cancel her trip that was scheduled for this week. Poor girl. She definitely deserves this Disney vacation!

In other cruise news, my documents arrived at work the other day. I've also completed online check-in. Now it's just a matter of waiting for the day to come. 14 days and counting! I'm still a bit nervous about my first cruise. My biggest concern is the occasional Norovirus outbreaks. I know it's rare but with my whole vomitting fear (yes, it's a legitimate fear) it has got me worried. That, and the whole seasickness. I'm guessing it doesn't happen very often since so many people cruise. But I'll still be packing some Gravol to be on the safe side. I'm such a worrier. :sad2:

Today I tried to book a tour for our April trip - Magic Behind Our Steam Trains. When I called to book for the date, the CM told me it wasn't available. Really? From what I read on AllEars, it runs on Thursdays (The day we're trying to book is Thursday April 29th). There was no way that it could be booked up on that day.... Is it really that popular? Every time I call the Tours department, I get this funny feeling that they don't know what they're doing. Sometimes I get someone who is great! Other times it's someone who can barely speak English. I'm going to try calling again next week to see if I get the same response. Stay tuned.

If I can't get the Steam Train tour, I'll have to see if I can fit in something else. Maybe we'll end up doing Keys to the Kingdom again. :confused3

Our ME booklet came for our Poly stay :woohoo: Now we have everything for our trip. 32 days to go!

I'm sure your cruise will be fine, but I agree, it's better to be safe than sorry!

About the Steam Trains tour, according to my 2010 Passporter, this tour was on hiatus at press time, so it's possible that it really isn't available. :confused3 That's annoying about the people in the tour department though :headache:

Yay for the rest of the ME stuff coming! And yay for only 34 days! I'm at 59 :goodvibes

I think of all the tours available, I'd most love the trains or the Behind the Seeds tours. I'd be really sad if it weren't still available!

Hiatus? That's really unfortunate. Wonder why the CM couldn't tell me that? I'll have to go back to the drawing board on this one.

The days are even less now - 30 days to go!

Maybe we'll do the Behind the Seeds tour. I really want to do a tour but not break the bank to do it. If we can't decide on a tour, I'm sure the Poly will give us enough to do!

That would be a good one! And if I remember right, it wasn't too expensive...

Hopefully you won't have a problem with seasickness on your cruise. I've only been on one, but it wasn't a problem. We gave the kids motion-sickness stuff when we first started out, but nobody had any issues so that was all that was ever dispensed. I do remember it taking at least two days though, after the trip was over, before we could get rid of the feeling that we were rolling with the waves. That was kind of weird.

We shall see about the tour. I might hold off and put the money towards a new horseback riding helmet.

I'm assuming that if you don't get car sick or sensitive on plane rides, you should be fine. I'm still taking the same precautions you mentioned. Sounds like I'll have to get my land legs back when my cruise is done! I really hope I enjoy the cruise. That way I can go on a Disney cruise! :goodvibes

Hello! Welcome to the fun! Have you stayed at the Poly before? You're sure to hear all about my stay in my TR :thumbsup2

Never stayed at the Poly before. I did get a chance to see the grounds and ate at O'hanas during our 2007 trip so I do have a bit of reference. BreezysMom's thread on the resort board is a huge help as well. :thumbsup2

Ohhhh. Have you started your less than a month dance yet?

I should really start looking at that thread in detail!

It's less than a month now :woohoo: I've been so busy preparing mentally and physically for my cruise that I just haven't had time!

My ticket is off by a day so it really should say 27 days. I didn't want to change it so Mickey would be at the beginning again. I know, I'm fussy.

Only 9 days until I leave for my NCL cruise. I'm really starting to get nervous about this. It will be my first time EVER travelling without family or friends. I just hope I don't get homesick. The internet is big $$$ onboard and even more to use my cell phone. Hopefully the training seminars and the onboard activities will keep my mind off things.

My grandmother has really started going downhill. She has to get a blood transfusion tomorrow :scared1: I was a bit shocked when I heard that. She also needs to have another procedure done to check for cancer in her bowels. They don't know if it's cancer yet and we won't know until she gets the procedure done. Her appointment for that is when I'm away on my cruise. I hope it's not bad news when I come home. She is turning 90 on April 8th. She's still in pretty good shape for her age! All her medical issues have really gotten me stressed out. My spare mornings are now taken up by having to take her to the hospital for all these appointments. :sad2:

I still need to plan the last two days of our trip. I'm going to call the Tour reservations again today to see if, indeed, the Steam Train tour is not available. I've read elsewhere on the boards that people are still going on this tour so it couldn't be on hiatus :confused3 I'll confirm this today.

I better get my butt in gear to finish the itinerary since I'll only have just over a week to finish it when I get back from the cruise. I hate leaving things to the last minute because there's almost ALWAYS changes. I really need to learn to let go, huh?

I was the same way for my ticker.... but really had to change mine, since I was off by more than a couple days. I wouldn't change it at this point.

I am so sorry for your grandma! I just lost both grandparents (I have 1 grandfather left)- one to suicide, one to cancer; so I know the angst you have. It is hard.

Keep trying on the train tour!! It sounds like a great one. :thumbsup2

Yes, get it in gear, girl!!
