Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

We are staying at the GF in July for my mother's 71st birthday and I have been searching for a picture of a Pluto cake (not a screen print). Has anyone ever gotten one? I would love to have the Pluto cake topper with some flowers but would really like to hear if anyone has any ideas on what else to ask for. I saw a cute Minnie cake with her as the topper...it was red fondant with white dots surrounded by black red and yellow balls at the bottom.....do you think they could do something cute like this for Pluto? Thanks.

Here's the Cars cake that we ordered for my son's 4th birthday at Chef Mickey's when we were there a few weeks ago. It was an 8 inch chocalate with buttercream filling (as per his request) and was enough for 6 people to have a slice that morning and we only made dent in 1/3 of that cake that morning. McQueen and Mater were made with white chocolate, I believe (I didn't get to try a piece, but that's what DH told me they were made from).

The cake was beautiful and we were SO happy with Chef Brian's work! :worship:

Awesome cake! Thanks for sharing! Do you mind telling us how much it cost you? How did it taste and was it moist and fresh? Thanks!

My dh and I had a different type of wedding cake (at home) an open book with a castle coming from it to say we will have a fairytale life. Anywho, we are going for our 12th anniversary and are doing our anniversary dinner at CRT. Who do I call to get a cake there and do you think they would do an open book?

If you have pictures, they can copy anything you had! I would call either the Disney Cake Hotline or the restaurant itself. Probably call the Cake Hotline and they will direct you to whichever Bakery is responsible. I did this at OKW...wanted a cake upon arrival and they sent me to Olivia's. The Bakery Chef emailed me and I emailed a pic of our top tier of wedding cake to recreate. They did a fantastic job!

Happy Anniversary!

THank you so much for posting that!! Was the cake at OKW good? I am hoping to get something delivered to our room at OKW when we are there in Dec. I just want something yummy and cute for the kids.

Yes, it was! You see, we got married at Disney, and stayed there for Honeymoon....so we had no way to transport the top of the cake (that you're supposed to freeze and eat on your first anniversary), so we ate it for breakfast every day during our Honeymoon. SO...when our first anniversary trip came around...I had the top of the cake recreated, so we could eat it for breakfast just like we did the last year!

The Bakery at OKW was really good!

Sorry! I forgot that important piece of info! It was $155, I know that's a lot, but it was well worth it in my opinion!! Yes, the cake was moist and fresh. It lasted 3 days in the fridge and stayed moist the whole time! I think all the frosting helped :rotfl:

We are staying at POR but not going to 1900 Park Fare. Are we able to get a small Mad Hatter Cake?

Just talked to Pat at GF and she said that the 2 tier mini wedding cakes are $35 with buttercream and mickey heads. It would be $40 for fondant. She said they never were $25.

Kind of a bummer...

Hey, looking all all these cakes, they are lovely!
Does anyone know about food allergies (esp. peanuts, DD is severely allergic) and these cakes? Can they prepare them in a separate area?
Thanks!

I don't know about the cakes, but I witnessed two families dealing with food allergies (at Le Cellier and at Flame Tree BBQ) and was VERY impressed with how Disney staff and chefs responded.

We had that cake at GF for our wedding anniversary it was awesome. Worth every penny came out when wishes fireworks started.

Can't firgure how to post picture...

I have been looking at the beautiful cakes being made at WDW but I have a question. Is it just me or is there a LOT of frosting on those cakes? When there's a picture of the inside, it looks like the actual cake layers are very thin and the frosting is like an inch thick. I have recently begun making cakes and can't imagine using that much frosting! :confused3 So is it just me? Anyone feel like they got too much frosting?

I am still up in the air about a cake. I want something small but I want something specific. Does that make sense? I would love a small 2 tier cake with red buttercream with yellow piping and balck mickey heads. Colors of the Disney Wonder and say Bon Voyage on it.

I love the idea of the Bon Voyage cake. To bad our cruise is beforehand. I would imagine that your colors should be able to be done. After seeing all these georgeous cakes I've also decided on the 2 tier mini cake myself. Perfect for my anniversary and there will only be me, DH and DD. In 2008 I got a 6 inch birthday cake at Coral Reef and we left 2/3's of it behind. What a waste.:sad2: I'm hoping I can get my wedding colors, pale yellow and peach with white roses. Should be a simple request, right? But is anything really simple at Disney these days?:lmao:Good luck.:goodvibes

I love that idea- I think I am just going to do that with Happy Birthday to my DD in September- sounds so pretty!!!:thumbsup2
