Glad I did (aside from marrying DH
):
1. Had a Disney Wedding. It really was magical and our guests loved it. We also had such a great time hanging out with family and friends in Disney before and after the wedding and I like that people will have good memories of spending time together in Florida in addition to our wedding day.
2. Got a Wedding Video. We were going to skip this until my coworkers talked me out of it and I'm so glad. The day goes by so fast and you really do miss a lot. I already keep saying: "I can't wait to see that on the video!"
3. Used outside vendors for floral and chair rental. This saved us a ton of money over what Disney would have charged us and we had no problems whatsoever.
4. Used the centerpieces are ceremony decor. We were initially going to do alternating high / low centerpieces at the reception and then just do swagging at the WP. After I found out that DH didn't like the swagging, we looked for other ways to dress up the space. Lee suggested alternating pillars for the centerpieces and I loved the look. I also felt like we got to really enjoy the centerpieces and got our money's worth since all ceremony floral was used at the reception.
5. Had Mickey and Minnie. Our guests went crazy when they showed up. It was a huge hit with everyone and totally worth it. We had them come for dancing and Mickey was quite the dancer, even having a dance-off with our ringbearer
. It was even better than I had imagined.
6. Had a Dessert Party and piped in the music. This was another thing our guests really enjoyed and I'm glad we had the dessert party. Karen was totally right and the music really added to the experience.
7. Stayed in the Main building at the GF. I had thought about changing but I'm so glad I didn't. It was definitely worth it for us and I'll get into that a little more during the TR. Although I think I may have created a monster since DH says he only wants to stay Club level from now on.
8. Ate at my wedding! I made a point to try everything and it was all delicious! While I couldn't really eat that much, I did at least have a taste of everything.
Wish I didn't:
1. Wait so long to finish those DIY projects. It wasn't intentional but it added a lot of unnecessary stress in those last weeks before the wedding. I am glad that I did them though since our guests did really appreciate all the work that went into them.
2. Wait so long to pack, this was partly because of the DIY thing, but we were packing the day before and at that point I was just throwing things into the suitcase and hoping for the best.
Wish I had:
1. Chosen a different menu for the DP. It was soooo hot that night, and since most of the offerings were creamy they were not really the best choices. Everything was delicious but the cheesecake lollipops were melting and no one really wanted to drink warm chocolate shots when it was 90 degrees outside
. I would have kept the chocolate covered strawberries and tirimisu but would have added more things that guests could have taken with them like mickey crispies or cookies. I also would have added some cold drinks, the only cold beverage was water, it would have been nice to have iced coffee or something too.
2. Remembered to bring the boxes to the DP. Yup, forgot all about them and all of those delicious strawberries went to waste, but really the strawberries were the only thing people could have taken.
3. Chosen a different flavor for our top layer. I had picked marble with strawberries and bavarian creme thinking it would be cut and served, but they kept it for us. I did make myself have a piece a few days after the wedding but it wasn't nearly as good as the other flavors, so I really wish I would have just had the two flavors and could have eaten more cake!
4. Stayed in Disney for longer. We loved Hawaii but with all the wedding events we really didn't get to do everything we wanted at Disney and it will probably be a while before we go back.
