"Diva" Trip - "Cliff Notes" p.236 OLD THREAD!

Good morning ladies!

Well had a horrible night's sleep Sat/Sun due to heartburn. Was so tired, that I didn't wake up till around 8:15, which meant pushing it to get to church on time.

Soooooo.. I suggested to Dave to just get out of town for the day and relax. We got our act together and drove to Pismo Beach for the day. Stopped in Paso Robles to pick up some deli sandwiches for our picnic on the beach. I love Paso Robles, and all of the wineries along the way.

Pismo was a zoo, (especially parking), but it was so nice to find a spot on the sand, read my book, people watch or whatever. And.....the weather was perfect!!

Left about 6:00pm and made it home about 8:15pm. Not bad. Just in time to take a shower, put a few things away and watch the Next Food Network Star. Anybody watching that? They need to can Penny/the MidEastern Mama. Her food looks good, but she is a witch. If she won, I wouldn't watch her show, just because of that.

OK, so I am arriving on July 23rd, which is a block out day. Those dang tickets are $59! Why does that seem so ridiculous to me? I thought they were $40 and l thought that was bad enough. Any other way to get into the park for less?

Block out tickets are $59 now? I just paid $50 in May, and thought that was bad!!! Pretty soon they are going to be as much as a regular ticket.

Carol that is awesome that you are going to take that little getaway trip around OR and into CA! Sounds like fun!!

I love that whole area. I was married to my ex for 8 years and his best friend was a park ranger in OR and we used to go visit them just about every 3 day or longer weekend that we got LOL. So I have explored pretty much most of the state. They lived in Bend for a bit and worked at the Cove and I enjoyed that area and he lived at Cascade Locks and in Florence. I also LOVE Crater lake and haven't been in several years so am really looking forward to showing the girls. My dad lived in Klammath Falls and Midland as a boy and in the Dalles so this will be a nice trip for him. He loves to reminices and show the girls where he grew up. I also lived in the north above Seattle for a year and in Vancouver for 2 years and worked in Portland when I was married to the ex so I explored quite a bit of both WA and OR when I lived there as well. Sure miss it! Can't wait to show all the beautiful spots to the girls! Have fun on your trip when you go!!

Mel that stinks about your heartburn. I get that too all the time and Rollaids were my friend and they don't seem to make them anymore which really stinks. Tums don't work as well for me and now that is all they make! I am glad you had fun at the beach and enjoy your 4th!

As for the character breakfast I agree I wasn't that thrilled with ST but I really like Goofy's Kitchen but I think it is more expensive than PP and we liked PP when we did it this past trip. I think it is prob a good choice!

Mel, I agree about Penny. She is very manipulative and all around not a very nice person. Have you seen Tom (can't remember his last name) from the last season's show??? He's funny. It's not really a cooking show though, more of an eating show


I think the PP share is a great idea and I usually participate......... I also usually forget to stop and get very many photos


I vote for a less expensive character breakfast too and the one at PP is nice. I think not having it in the park on the Sunday would be best for those leaving, so they don't have to have a ticket for the day just for brekkie (I know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but you know )

I like Tom too! I'm glad he has his own show also! Did you know that I saw Aartii Sequeira in person? I need to share my pic with her. She is as nice in person, as she is on her show! I know I posted it here, but didn't know if you saw it.

Anywhos, Penny is just plain mean. How come some people just don't get it? Don't they realize, that it is harming them, verses helping?
Another one who is not my favorite is Chris. He is just too big for his britches! But I think he has humbled himself quite a bit lately! LOL!~

Hi Steph! How are you? Are you still on mandatory leave?

So you don't think much of Penny either! I was seriously thinking of writing to the Food Network, to let them know my thoughts on her. But then I realized, that the winner has already won and made their first 6 episodes.

When I saw Aartii, she talked about how she had to wear disguises to the Food Network studios, so no one knew she won. They started filming her new series, the day after she won. She had to come up with her recipes that fast, and be ready to go. She shared how exausting the whole ordeal was, and that she lost 10 pounds during the competition due to nerves and being on the go from dawn till dusk everyday. Whew!

That's great that you and Vicki are getting to see Kenny Chesney! I haven't seen Vicki in almost a year! Last year for my birthday we met up at the Woodland Park Zoo. It was a lot of fun!

I am doing a little WDW planning this morning before getting ready for all the fun and festivities of the 4th. The planning is going pretty well and it feels good to finally be getting to it! I have my transfers with Happy Limo booked from the airport to the cruise terminal and from the cruise terminal to FW and I have the magic express booked from our hotel back to the airport so that part is done. I still haven't purchased tickets into the park and I am working on finding a company with a 6 person golf cart that they could drop off and pick up from FW for me. I think we are going to avoid the parks with the emh's since I hear they get more crowded and my daughter is anti crowd. I am looking forward to trying the new Star Wars ride and I have never done TOT in WDW so that should be cool. I hear it is a different experience from the one we have in DL.

LVE watching the Next Food Network Star.......Penny looks like she came off one of those Housewife reality shows & definitely doesn't fit the personality profile of a food network star. I think they keep her for the added drama......but it's time for her to go!

I don't think that Penny realizes that "winning" is only part of the competition. The biggest part is being likeable and having people want to watch you.

I like Orchid and Vic. What's not to like about a big guy with tattoos who is such a softie and can cook???? Bring it

Hi Mel. I'm still working but I'm not able to do a great deal physically speaking. I'm only allowed to walk 15 minutes at a time. And I'll just say that's extremely difficult.

As for Next Food Network Star, I like Orchid and Vic. I agree that Chris needs to grow, he has grown over the past couple weeks (I think a lot of that had to do with Orchid...I loved 'code blue' last week.)

We're heading out in a little bit for lunch and then back to the base for Summer Bash. They have live music, carnival rides, a lot of food, and then fireworks at the end of the night.

Mel, I love, love, love Pismo Beach. My mom used to do that drive to the coast all the time when she lived in Hanford. I miss that area a lot.

Carol - I think for now I'll give the September/October PhotoPass a go and organize that. We can work out the details on the second one later although it might be a little easier if I do both so information doesn't have to be sent to multiple people and risk someone getting lost along the way.

I'm all for the Thrill Rides as well!!

Character meals.. I have done all of them but Ariel's Grotto... not to interested in that one as I have heard Adults don't get much attention there. I would do any of them except Storyteller's Again. That one was not a favorite. I loved Surf's Up though to that works for me!

I'm up for most of the other food places mentioned. I'd love Napa Rose but I think I will do the Jazz Kitchen instead. I am still holding out hope to get my hubby to DL someday and want to share the Napa Rose experience with him.

I'm also for a Photopass Share. I am going the beginning of October as well so would love to share the cost!

I'm about to head to bed. I've worked 4 night shifts in a row. I have 2 more to go!!!
