August booking has NOT opened up yet, people were posting dates they HOPE to get. Everyone is watching together.

Curious, does anyone book the dessert party for their arrival day?

Thinking about it. It all depends on if I can get my first date of choice. If not, then will try for day we arrive. I have 5 possible dates. Arrival date is my second choice but will take it if I can't get my first date of choice.

So I'm not crazy to do it on arrival day :goodvibes See, this is the problem having to wait to book these things, you continuously second guess yourself!

Arrival day was my 2nd choice too but reconsidering. First choice night we have 5:45 Chef Mickey which is probably too close to enjoy all those desserts :confused3

The only way I would book on an arrival day is if you could meet all of the following criteria:

* You'll be scheduled to arrive early enough that there's NO possible way you wouldn't be there in time (there's a 24 hour cancellation, so you'd be out quite a bit of money if something happened; weather, delayed flights, etc...)

* You'll be arriving early enough that you will have enough time to enjoy some park time, and won't be "wasting" a day of your park ticket by JUST going to the park for the party and nothing else. (Not that paying for one more day on your ticket really costs that much.)

* You don't have little ones that will be totally exhasted from traveling and cause you to have WISHES of naptime instead of dreams & desserts :cloud9:

Twiddledee, I see where you're coming from about too close to your Chef Mickey reservation! We are arriving at 9:30 a.m. on arrival day and have park hoppers so we wont be wasting a day's ticket just to do the desert party. It has been our tradition for the past 4 years that on arrival day, we spend a few hours in Downtown Disney and eat a late lunch around 2 or 3. Then, we will head over to MK because we ALWAYS start our vacation and end our vacation with Wishes, so this year it would work out great (because of our early arrival time) to do the desert party on arrival day. Who knows! I'll take what I can get at this point. Hopefully, it opens tomorrow. I'm so sick and tired of waiting. This is the last thing to plan before everything is COMPLETE!

Excellent points, thanks so much :goodvibes
We're scheduled to arrive before 10am and it's EMH night at MK with teenager who wants to stay until 2am so we should be good :thumbsup2

Teenager seems to think he COULD eat Chef Mickey's and dessert party in same night but not so sure for DH and I

I think we're going to go for arrival night :woohoo: I just hope we get it because otherwise it will be CM night and then we'll just skip any dessert there  but I'd rather experience dessert party since this will be a first for us so I'll take what I can get!

Maybe this time tomorrow we'll all be happily posting that we all got what we wanted and can finalize this final ADR detail for our Aug trips :dance3:

I tried this morning to book and also got nothing.

Hoping to get august 26th a party of 5.

Fingers crossed.

This reminds me of trying for those coveted CRT reservations from years ago, only at least with those you knew you could book exactly 90 days in advance. Hopefully we can make reservations later today :yay:

Still nothing! Does anybody know on average how far out Disney opens each month? It seems like we have been waiting a lot longer for August than previous months to open.

The first post here shows the dates that the desert party has opened for all of last year, and the dates up till now for 2012.

:)

Just check a 2:00 pm and I have checked every hour since 6 am this morning and still nothing yet...... Are they trying to make us go crazy?? I'm still betting on Thurs.

Junebug, I've been checking every hour too, lol! I'm thinking it's not going to happen today.

For some reason I was thinking 3:00 today would be when they added August....but no.

Does anyone know if they open online bookings at the same time as phone bookings? Or does online lag behind? I'm only checking online so far.
