Tell me something random about Disneyland

We used to hop in the pkng lot shuttle, right in front of the main gate, & ride it over to the DLH just to go to the gift shop (we usually didn't stay there & it was too long a walk).

in BBB, on the top shelf opposite the cash register, is a tiara under a glass case - this is the tiara worn by Anne Hathaway in the movie 'the princess diaries'.

Thats a cool fun fact:thumbsup2

There's been a lot of Disneyland items, but not too many about other areas around the Resort. So, let me try to spark some ideas.

Before Disney California Adventure was built, the entire area in front of Disneyland was the main parking lot. The monorail's track was never moved and at that time the track went right over the central part of the parking lot. Monorail personnel report that the most common phrase uttered by monorail riders was, "I can see our car!" :rotfl:

Ok, your turn. Tell me something random about what it was like before DCA.

:hyper:

Thats great! :lmao:

Yes! For a while, there was a separate Disneyland Hotel shuttle. We always drooled at those that rode it after closing because we knew those folks were staying there.

The other cool way to get to the Disneyland Hotel was the monorail, but not just to avoid the walk. There was a cute little bar called the Monorail Lounge that was right near the Monorail platform. So very convenient to "take a break" in the late afternoon and then return to the Park a little happier!

If you get to pilot the Mark Twain, you also get to sign a log book that is stored for posterity at Disney headquarters in Burbank.

In great moments with mr. Lincoln and the American adventure there is a civil war song about two brothers...one wore blue and one wore grey... Sadly one brother doesn't make it. You see his parents /family standing at a train station grief stricken. Well that train station is the one in new Orleans square.

I'm sure many of you have now visited the new Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, Mad T Party, and all the other new things that have opened. Tell me something random about DCA.

DGF informed me once that the guy who narrates the safety shpeal for California Screamin' is none other than Neil Patrick Harris, aka Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother (also Dr. Horrible in Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog, among other things). I'll never forget it now XD

I just looked this up recently because it was bothering me for the longest time. The guy who narrates the safety shpeal for Soarin', his voice sounded so familiar that I was sure I had heard it before. It turns out, I was right: his name is Patrick Warburton, and he's the voice of Kronk from Emperor's New Groove, as well as Joe Swanson from Family Guy and Brock Samson from Venture Bros. (among a crapload of other things).

Apparently the numbers on the trolleys, 623 and 717, are numbered for when Walt arrived in CA hence the 623 and when Disneyland opened, hence the 717

If you stand on the bridge between Adventureland and New Orleans Square, right in front of the Dream Suite steps and look above the buildings on Royal St., you can see the masts and sails of the ships in the "harbor".

I just want to say.... I love this thread, and find it so interesting!

Thank You, keep the stories coming...:thumbsup2

And...

If I'm not mistaken (and that is certainly possible) he is also the voice of the robot droid in the Star Tours queue line who is image scanning the guests (the one on the upper level just before you get your glasses) who keeps saying, "Move along".

Of course, if this isn't correct, I'm sure you all will tell me. ;)

Good one ManusDei! :thumbsup2

I never thought about it, but now that I do, you're so right! His wiki page includes it, and Star Tours wiki page confirms it's him.

Ok, here's one that I'm sure many of you know...

:rolleyes1

We all know that the Country Bear Jamboree occupied Bear Country at Disneyland (now Critter Country) for many years. Alas, the Country Bears left when Pooh came to town.

But did all the Country Bear characters really leave? If not, who "hung around" and where can they be found???

:confused3

Hint, look up and behind when you come out of the Heffalump room.

At entrance of the Grand Californian there is a stone column which has a plaque of trees and animals on each side. Look for the hidden mickeys on them. A CM pointed these out to my family.

They once put a Olympic sized swimming pool on main street and held swimming exhibitions there.

I got to pilot the Mark Twain last time I was there. They let me sign the log book and gave me a Pilot License Certificate. I had it framed when I got home :)
