Food and Wine? Sounds Divine! An October TR - 12/2 A PTR Link!

Your brother didn't happen to play a lot of Tetris when he was growing up did he? :confused3 :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Impressive job packing.

And I'll admit it isn't necessarily easy to take a car seat out and put it back in, but how was it that difficult??? If you wait until he's older before you ever take that thing out of there you will be shocked and disgusted by the things you'll find wedged between it and the seat. :rotfl2::rotfl: Besides, it gets easier with practice. Just give it a try.

I'm glad that you were able to find a pharmacy that could fill the prescription. I know it seems pretty obvious after the fact, but maybe the Dr. should have just sent it to the pharmacy in Florida to begin with. :rotfl2:

OK, so that was the "not so emergency emergency". Glad you got it taken care of at the beginning of the trip so that you could enjoy the rest of the trip!

:cool1: for finding the steroid!! Being sick makes a trip no fun, especially no being able to eat (DF got an upset stomach on our Disneyland trip and he felt awful for the rest of the time we were in CA).

Hope everyone is feeling better soon!

Being sick on vacation is the worst. DH and I had some bad pizza at DTD in Disneyland one year, and spent the next full day in our hotel room throwing it all up. It was terrible! Even worse that we were sharing a room with my DM, DB and DSil, so no privacy whatsoever.

Wow! I'm so glad first of all that there was a new drug, and that you were able to get it for DH, that would not have made for a fun F & W experience.

Bonus that DB helped with the car :)

That drug was truly a miracle drug. Stopped everything, IYKWIM, and made his pain go away.

Yay you started the TR :goodvibes

Sorry for the pre-trip drama, isn't it typical that something like that happens just before a vacation  ... but glad the pharmacy in Orlando had the medicine! They must have pixie dust there too :cutie:

Emma princess: x

:lmao: Definitely pixie dust everywhere in Orlando!

Yay, you’ve started your TR!!

Sorry to hear about DH and his medication, but I’m glad you were able to get it.

I love gel manicures too. You don’t have to worry about them chipping while you’re on vacation!!

Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your trip…..

PS- Hope you're feeling better too! :)

Gel manicures are the best! Here they are only 5 bucks more than a regular manicure, which obviously only lasts a couple days on my hands, so it's worth the extra $!

So our car is so old, it doesn't have the LATCH system, which means we have to use the seat belts. The car seat (the one that's already hooked up in the car) can only go in the middle and it took us over 2 hours to put that one in (not including a 30 minute break angry break :lmao:) We even had our neighbor, who is a CHP, come over to help us install it properly, and all he said was, "Sorry. I don't know how to do this one!" :eek:The one we were taking with us to FL, is the one I *kinda* know how to put in, and DH doesn't so figured that would be the best one to take with us. Still took me about 20 minutes once we got to FL and still moved around a bit. I think that means we're not allowed to have anymore children after this one :lmao: Those booster seats look SO easy to put in, I can't wait till he hits that stage!

Funny you mention that, even DH told the doctor we would be flying to FL the next day and he said nothing. But it's not even that. You would think that he would know that no pharmacy would have this brand new drug on hand :teacher:

Sorry that your hubby is dealing with that. Hope you have a great trip!

Thank you!

OK, so that was the "not so emergency emergency". Glad you got it taken care of at the beginning of the trip so that you could enjoy the rest of the trip!

Yup and as selfish as it was, I didn't want to leave the World to get medication so I was so happy this happened at the beginning.

WOW! I had no idea about your DH's condition. I totally get why you wanted to go pick up the medication at the pharmacy on your arrival night!

And thank goodness for your DB. That is one heck of a jigsaw to fit in that car.

So glad you were able to get the meds for the trip! Being sick on vacation is the WORST!!!!!

I love gel nails! I can't wait to get Mickey/Minnie themed nails before our trip...

Oh no not what you need to start a vacation. Glad you were able to get the medicine. Love the nails. I am planning on getting the gel manicure for our trip because my friend told me how long it lasts for. I would get it more often but it is too much to spend each time.

Hope you feel better though and that it doesn't get worse for DS.

Not exactly the same thing, but I can relate to that feeling of desperately trying to get a medical issue worked out right before a WDW trip (Dug somehow got impetigo right before one of our past trips). I'm so glad it did work out and that you found a place that had the meds your DH needed! :cool1: I can't imagine him enjoying F&W much without that bit of pixie dust! pixiedust:

I was going to ask if you had LATCH for your carseat, but I see in your comment that you don't. Did your rental in FL have it? I was afraid to remove our carseat base at first (we do have LATCH, but it still took some time to get it right), but with car repairs/loaner cars/new car things going on, I've had to take it out and put it back in a bunch and can do it in a couple minutes now. I've never tried the seatbelt, though, so I'm sure that would take a while! I'm glad you got some help arranging all that in the car!

All in all, decent start to your trip. That's super impressive that you were ready to go so early! :thumbsup2

Welcome back!!!!! I hope you had a great time!

I love the packing job. Was it that easy for the ride home? I'm thinking not! :rotfl2:

So glad you were able to get your DH's med. The ulcerative colitis thing must be such a drag. Just curious - is he trying to remove wheat and gluten from his diet as part of the treatment? I've just been doing a little research on the side about gluten intolerance so that's why I'm asking.

Really looking forward to reading all about your trip. :goodvibes

Being totally stressed out right before a vacation is not a great way to start :scared: but I'm glad you were able to work it all out. That's so great that the pharmacy in Orlando had the rx you needed. I wonder if it's the same CVS I had to go to on my last trip to pick up a rx I forgot to bring with me!

What an eventful first day! I'm glad you were able to find the prescription in Orlando, vacationing while sick would be awful. Looking forward to your next update.

I knew I forgot to add something! When I got home from dropping DH off at work, I went to pack a new, unopened Birth Control pack and noticed it was different from my normal prescription. I called the pharmacist and asked if it was the same thing, just to make sure (I thought the name had changed, like my last one did) Nope. Not the same and they told me to not take that one.:headache: I asked about getting the correct one filled and they said sure, it will be ready tomorrow. Uh, no. I told her I was leaving for LA in a few hours and will be flying out of state so I would need it asap. Luckily, they had my old prescription on file and they had that one available right now. So I had to drop everything and get my new prescription. After this trip, i'm so done with pharmacies! :rotfl:

Yes! Without that medication, there was no way he would have been able to enjoy himself at all!

Gel nails are seriously the best invention ever! I have a thing about chipped nails and if I see one chipped, the others just have to come off. Either fully manicured nails or nothing at all. None of that in between stuff.:rotfl:

Yes! Definitely get them. I'm the same way, I only get them done for special events or trips. I probably do it ever 6-8 weeks because there is always something coming up. Otherwise, I do my nails. I've seen Gel Manicure kits/machines for around $65 and thought that would be a great investment. But my girl does them in 20 minutes and knowing me, it would take me an hour:lmao:

Exactly, F&W would have been terrible for him!

Thank goodness our rental car had them! I figured they would since they 'should' only ever have newer cars and LATCH came in around 2002 or 2003.

:wave2:

I even suggested to DH about giving up wheat and gluten but when he realized what that meant he said, "He** no!" I have a friend who gave them up, and she said her body just felt so much healthier and lighter. She had more energy throughout the day too. I've made a few desserts that were wheat and gluten free and they were delicious! I think main meals would be more of a problem for him.

Was there a Publix right across the street? That's the one we went to and even though it was not in my 'plans' to make an unscheduled stop somewhere :-)rotfl2:) i'm glad we picked it up instead of him trying to stick it out.

What an eventful first day! I'm glad you were able to find the prescription in Orlando, vacationing while sick would be awful. Looking forward to your next update.

And that was only the first half of the day! :faint:

I was going to post an update tonight after reading through all my subscribed threads. That was at 8:10. It's now 10:30 and I still need to read:

franandaj
MEK
Dugette
eandesmom
PIO

(this list is for me so I remember where I need to start tomorrow)

This is what I get for letting weeks go in between getting on the DIS:sad2: Tomorrow i'll have an update for everyone. I'm having a problem with PP right now and was on the phone waiting for 30 minutes (2 phone calls at 30 minutes that is!) so sent an email instead. Hopefully they can resolve this online and they won't have me call.

Goodnight everyone!

Wow, what a hassle with the medication, but at least you were able to solve it all.
And your car is packed perfectly - wish I could do that too! Well, minus the stroller that is. :lmao:

I had every intention of updating last night but something so strange happened to DS last night. I fed him dinner, and he broke out in hives/welts all over his body. He did this the night before, but they went away within an hour or two so didn't think anything of it. But tonight, I noticed it was much worse. I immediately gave him some children's benedryl because his lips were turning purple. It seemed to get worse so we gave him a cool bath and it looked like his hives were going away. We put him to bed and I went to check on him an hour later and there was throw up everywhere. I found him sleeping in his throw up, poor kid. Thank goodness I went to check on him otherwise he would have been like that all night! We gave him another bath and put him to bed and seems fine this morning. I called the doctor and mentioned that this happened only at night and that last night was the worst of it. If it happened again tonight, I need to take him in tomorrow. Does anyone know what this could be or why this is happening? No change in laundry detergent, diet, etc...He's doing fine right now, i'm just worried about tonight. And it's so weird that it only happens in the evening..So I want to get my update in right now while I can, in case this happens again. Asking for prayers that this doesn't happen, because I know they'll want to do the allergy test and hear that's not fun.
