Go Big or Go Home! 17 Days of Disney Dining! COMPLETE & Food & Wine Fest Index

Can't wait for more!!! We (DH and I) were there for part of your trip (15th-18th and we hit every booth) so I can't wait to see what you have to say. I love that you were there for 17 days and drove down (nice to have your own car at WDW). Thanks for posting!!!

17 days!! Sounds wonderful to me! I'm looking forward to reading about your dining adventures.

Your MIL's stromboli looks delicious!!

Subbing in to see all your dining choices. I'm so jealous the length you guys got to spend there.

Ummm, that Stromboli looks delicious!!! Omg, my mouth is drooling, what a start!

Can't wait for more!

Thanks for joining in! The stromboli was delish! We are trying to talk her into making a different one next week. :thumbsup2

Thanks for reading along! :goodvibes We had a fantastic time at F&W. I'm starting those updates next. That long drive is a pain, but it's cheap and you're right, it is nice to have your own car down there. I drove us most places this trip, so we saved a ton of time by not waiting for buses.

17 days!! Sounds wonderful to me! I'm looking forward to reading about your dining adventures.

Hey there! Thanks for joining in! 17 days was heaven. It was hard to come home!

Looking forward to this! I just followed you on instagram also!

Hey there Rachel! Following along with you on instagram as well. :thumbsup2 All of your pics are awesome!

After that long drive from NJ we finally arrived at Pop Century. Fortunately our room was ready and everything went smoothly at check-in with our MagicBands. We arrived at our room back in the 80s section. Here is the view from our door.

We got all of our bags up to the room and made a few phone calls to let everyone know we arrived safely and then we were ready for a glorious nap! But we couldn't sleep. So, we both deemed ourselves too excited to sleep and got ready to head into a park!

We decided on Epcot as our first park and off we went! I was able to book a few rides for Fastpass+, which worked out great. After a ride on Spaceship Earth we headed to Guest Relations to upgrade to annual passes and purchase a Tables in Wonderland card. All went smoothly there and now we headed back to WS to start our F&W adventures!

Our first stop was the Desserts & Champagne booth.

Rob and I both got the Hazelnut Chocolate Cheesecake.

So creamy with a great hazelnut flavor. Perfect size for this type of event and at $1.75 the price was certainly right.

Next we both stopped at Hawai'i.

We both got the Kalua Pork Sliders with Sweet and Sour Dole Pineapple Chutney & Spicy Mayonnaise.

We both enjoyed these! I love the sweet/savory combo, so this was perfect for me. It could have used a little more of the pineapple chutney, but overall it was fantastic.

We got drinks here as well. Rob got the Lucien Albrecht Gewurztraminer Reserve

A nice crisp wine. He enjoyed it.

I had the Aulani Sunrise featuring Ocean Vodka.

Cheers!

I loved this drink! I am kicking myself for not getting another one of these during the trip. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. It packed a nice punch too. Three of these and you would need to carry me out of Epcot! :rotfl2:

Next Rob stopped at the booth for Australia.

He got the Rosemount Estate Pinot Grigio.

He also got the Garlic Shrimp with Roasted Tomatoes, Lemon Myrtle and Rapini

Let me start this off by saying how proud I was of Rob for trying the shrimp with no push from me. He really wanted to expand his seafood horizons this trip, so I was glad to see him start right away. :thumbsup2

Let me also say that I was so jealous! It smelled AMAZING! I was wanting to go back for one of my own. He loved it! It was one of his favorite dishes at F&W.

Next we wondered over to China.

I was super boring and got the Chicken Potstickers

These were good, but like I said, boring. It definitely needed the sauce.

Emboldened by his new love of shrimp, Rob ordered the Black Pepper Shrimp with Sichuan Noodles and a Tsingtao Beer.

He enjoyed this, but he liked the shrimp in Australia better. However, this was so much food and was a pretty good value because he was now totally stuffed. The beer was so frosting and I ended up drinking half of it because it was SO HOT and that beer tasted awfully cool and yummy in the Florida sun. :thumbsup2

Next, Rob made a booze only stop in Africa.

He tried the Wolftrap Red.

This was a favorite of his and made a few stops for this throughout our days at the festival.

They were a lively bunch at this booth. Anytime someone ordered the Wolftrap Red (and it was quite a few people) all the CMs working the booth would howl! It was pretty fun!

(More F&W updates in next post)

Up next is Poland!

I tried the Frozen Szarlotka (apple pie) featuring Zubrowka Bison Grass Vodka

You hear something has a certain flavor or is supposed to taste like some other type of food and you think, ok sure it will. You almost expect to search your taste buds to pick out the flavor sometimes. Well let me tell you, I took a sip of this and was taken aback by the fact that... it really tasted like frozen apple pie. :rotfl: It even had that cinnamon flavor of a homemade apple pie. I had a drink at a bar in Philly last winter with the Bison Grass Vodka and really enjoyed it. I think I might need to incorporate this flavored vodka into my drink selections at home. :thumbsup2

Rob tried the Recommended Pairing of the Zapiekanki and Temptation Zinfandel.

He gave me a bite of this and I was surprised that the ketchup actually had some spice to it. For something that could have easily been too plain it actually had a lot of flavor. We like mushrooms on just about anything, so this was definitely a winner for us.

Next we both stopped at the Florida Local booth.

Rob had the Florida Orange Groves, Key Limen, Key Lime Wine

This was probably his favorite wine of the festival. It has been a few years since we have attended the F&W Festival, but we have had wine from this winery at past festivals and enjoyed it. I even ordered a case of wine direct from the winery in the past. This wine was another hit with us. Especially me. I like the sweet wines.

Here I had the Florida Shrimp Ceviche with Fire Roasted Vegetables & Micro Cilantro

They had me at cilantro. This was my first ceviche and I have to say, I am a fan. The flavors were so vibrant in this dish. I could have eaten a whole bowl. The shrimp dishes are proving to be a hit with us! :thumbsup2

After a whole trip around WS we made our last stop at Scotland.

Rob had never heard of the Innis & Gunn beer so he decided to give it a try.

He said it was good, but nothing he would get again.

I had the Scottish Banoffee Tart with Bananas, Scotch Whisky Toffee, Walkers Shortbread Crumbles and Sweet Cream.

I have seen a lot of other people raving about this on the boards, but I don't get it. It was good, but not great in my opinion. I thought it was very bland.

Between the lack of sleep and the heat, we were officially exhausted and decided to head back to the resort. On our way out of Epcot we made a slight detour over to the Festival Center to check out their offerings.

The large wine selection of offerings from the festival booths along with other selections.

I got my mom started with collecting these cat bottles, so I got her one she didn't have as her souvenir.

The Florida winery offerings in chilled pouches.

Our first trip around the F&W booths was a success! We tried more than I thought we would and really enjoyed so many items. There are lots more F&W pics to come later in the report! :thumbsup2

Great start - have really missed not doing the F&W for the first time in five years :( but enjoying seeing some of our favourites in your photos :goodvibes:

Great reviews so far!!!

We're also in South Jersey and drive to WDW. I read your last report and we're about 20 minutes from each other.

Can't wait to read the rest of the reviews. :thumbsup2

Wow! That's a long drive and you were still able to hit up F&W that first day! That shrimp dish from the Australia booth looks awesome! I love the howling for the Wolftrap red beer! So funny!

BTW, that Stromboli that your MIL made looks delicious. What a great send off meal.

And may I CONGRATULATE you again on your record breaking, never to be topped live dining thread points! :thumbsup2:worship:

I'm back from my trip and you are already making me jealous of your F&W offerings that we missed! There was SO much I wanted to eat but just not enough stomach room! It's hard fitting in both regular restaurants and all the booths!!

Can't believe all of this is only your first night. Drinking and subbing in ; )

Thanks! This was our first time at F&W in four years and now it will be hard to not go back during this time of year every trip. Our other times at F&W we didn't visit the booths anywhere even close to as much as we did this trip. It was a lot of fun!

Great reviews so far!!!

Hello fellow South Jerseyan! :wave2: Thanks for joining in! Ugh, that drive is so brutal. Not enough time has passed yet for me to start to forget how truly awful it is.

Love the food and wine reviews!

I couldn't believe we actually went into a park. And drank. And walked 6 miles. We love our Disney World! Had to soak in every second we could get. :thumbsup2

My MIL is one heck of a cook. So is my FIL. They make so much amazing food. They should have opened a restaurant. I was happy she was willing to make dinner for us on our travel day.

Phew, that was a lot of points. I couldn't believe how high that point total was. Now let me congratulate YOU! Check out that awesome thread of the month badge you have going on there! I am so behind on your TR. I need to catch up on your award winning thread! :thumbsup2

Subscribing!:)

Thanks for joining in!

I have been loving all of your updates on the live thread from all the seminars. I couldn't get Rob to commit to booking any ahead of time and then I never really thought to check if anything was still available once we were in WDW. We ended up spending so many days at F&W in place of other restaurants this trip. We only ate at one Epcot restaurant in 17 days. I wish we had the opportunity to fit in more places there, but I am thrilled at how many items we were able to try at F&W.

Can't believe all of this is only your first night. Drinking and subbing in ; )

Thanks for joining in! It's hard to believe how much we fit in that first afternoon. It was way more than I expected to do that day!

After our trip to Epcot I was exhausted and very dehydrated. Between the lack of sleep, all the walking, all the drinking and the heat I was not feeling the greatest. In fact, I got the worst leg cramp of my life on the way to the bus. It was bad. I could barely walk. I was practically dragging my leg behind me. This served as a cautionary tale for future days. I remembered to bring a bottle of water with me on other days at F&W and refilled it at water fountains throughout the day.

We made it back to the room and just laid in bed and watched Stacey!

Rob wanted to open the bottle of wine we bought at the Festival Center, but we realized that there are no corkscrews in the rooms at Pop. We went out in search of one and the bartender at Petals Pool Bar was nice enough to let us borrow one. :thumbsup2 Once the wine was open Rob was feeling too tired to walk the corkscrew back down to the bar. I was actually feeling a little hungry, so I volunteered to take the corkscrew back and head out in search of food.

Once I was at the main pool it was only a short walk to the walkway connecting Pop to Art of Animation. It was a beautiful night so I walked over to AoA to grab dinner.

The view of AoA from the Pop side of Hourglass Lake.

The walkway over to AoA

Loved the Finding Nemo theming at the pool

The food court here was packed and chaotic, but I found what I wanted and was able to place my order almost immediately despite a long line and got my food very quickly. I asked for it to go, so they even had it boxed up in a little container for me. I paid and was able to use my TiW card for the first time. Very easy. I accomplished my food mission very quickly. :thumbsup2

I headed back to the room for a bedtime picnic. I had the Surf and Surf Burger. Crab Cake topped with fried Popcorn shrimp, tomato, lettuce, and cajun reoulade on a brioche bun served with house-seasoned fries.

I really wanted to try this and I am so glad that I did! The crab cake had just a little more filler than I care for, but it was still very good and I liked the crunch of the shrimp on top. The brioche bun was very fresh and buttery. My fries were still warm and crispy by the time I got back to the room. This was a ton of food and a decent bargain at $10.49. It is just as much for a chesseburger and fries, so why not get some yummy seafood instead!

Rob didn't want a full meal, so I got him a dessert treat.

He loves cheesecake, so I figured I couldn't go wrong here. He wasn't super thrilled with these though. He said none of them had a very distinct flavor. He thought they were just okay.

We also polished off our bottle of Key Limen wine from the festival.

We settled in for the night just in time to watch a new episode of Big Bang Theory. Which Rob fell asleep to five minutes into the show. I needed my sleep too because we had a fun day planned at Magic Kingdom where we were excited to get our first glimpse at the New Fantasyland!

Hey there Alicia! Glad to finally 'meet' you! It's been great talking with you on Instagram. So glad you found my DR and are joining in. Lots more great updates coming up!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that wine :thumbsup2! I first had it in Key West and it always makes me think of my beloved Florida ! Loving your dining report :cool1:!

It is yummy! I brought one more bottle home with us which we had yesterday during football. How fun to drink Key Limen while in the Keys! We are hoping to take a trip down there within the next few years. Possibly as an add on to a WDW trip. :thumbsup2

After our incredibly full day on Thursday we still managed to wake up bright and early and get ready for another day at the parks. I wanted to get right to MK, but the quick breakfast options are terrible there right now. We instead had breakfast at our resort before making the journey to MK. Everything Pop, here we come!

I wasn't in the mood for anything big so I grabbed a cheese danish.

Oh Disney cheese danish, how I love thee! How is their cheese danish so good?! It never fails me. We have zero bakeries near us back at home, so vacation is my time to eat all the danish I possibly can. It's a rare treat for us.

I also got a side of breakfast potatoes since I wanted a little something savory with my sweet breakfast.

These were just okay. Not as good as I was hoping. Plus I was actually kinda full just from the danish. Rob ended up with most of these.

Speaking of Rob, he was a sneaky bugger and found an awesome breakfast option at a different station than me. A breakfast burrito!

If I had seen this, I probably would have been unable to resist ordering it. He gave me a coupe of bites and it was so tasty! Lots of flavor and pretty decent quality for a quick service burrito.

Let me also add that Rapid Refill stations were in full effect here. I didn't get mugs this trip, but I was able to use the machines for ice water with no problem. They gave me a paper cup for free at the register when I asked for one and the water dispenser attached to one of the soda options worked with no problem. I totally utilized the free ice water at quick service spots this trip. I may spend some serious dough at WDW, but that doesn't mean I won't be thrifty when I have the chance! :thumbsup2

Also, I used my TiW card again this morning with no issue. And charged the meal back to our room using the MagicBand with no issue. I love this feature of the MagicBand! I don't have to fumble for my wallet in line and can just touch and go. Such a huge convenience for me this trip!

Up next, we are off to Magic Kingdom!

We left Everything Pop and headed outside for the bus to MK when I saw THE BIGGEST LINE FOR A BUS EVER!!!! No, seriously, EVER!!!! I was stunned. It had to be at least 5 totally packed buses worth of people all headed to MK. No way was I waiting in that. So, we walked back to where our car was parked and I drove us to TTC. I have been driving more and more each trip. I don't mind at all. In fact, I enjoy it. I really know my way around now and get us everywhere with ease. So, off we go to TTC and once we arrive we get right on the shuttle headed to the front and then onto the ferry to MK. I love taking the ferry! This was all really just an excuse to ride it. :thumbsup2

We had a great morning exploring the new Fantasyland. Some shots from our day.

The Tangled Tower, which I LOVE!

Our first time on the new Little Mermaid ride!

Here I am decked out in my Ariel inspired ensemble complete with handmade Ariel headband, which those of you who read my PTR might remember me making.

Okay, okay, back to the food.

We didn't have any food plans and we were totally undecided about what to do, but we did know that we were hot and a cool tasty beverage sounded pretty inviting. We took a break from rides and wandered back to Main Street, More specifically, the Main Street Bakery.

This was our first time here since they remodeled it. I love that there is a Starbucks here now, but I am disappointed in the bakery options now.

Rob is clueless about ordering at Starbucks. So, he asked me to order him the biggest, most fattening, most caffeinated, cold beverage they have. I ordered him a Venti Java Chip Frappuccino with a whipped cream and a shot of espresso.

I got myself something off of the seasonal menu. A grande Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino with whipped cream and a shot of espresso.

Yum! I love this salted caramel phase that all eateries are going through. It's overused now, but I don't care. It has replaced chocolate/peanut butter as my favorite flavor duo, so keep the salted caramel products coming my way!

Now that we have some caffeine in us, we are ready for some more rides!

Up next, where should we eat before the movie starts? And what movie should we see?
