To the CM's on the board: what is the one "tip" you can give us?

As a former MGM CM (94-96), the main thing that I can suggest is bring your patience with you. I understood that a few guests had been waiting for things since they arrived in the park that day: entrance queue, food queues, attraction queues, waiting for a table to clear, waiting for the restrooms during a crowded day, waiting for a space to sit down and wait for "Sorcery in the Sky." Guests wait. And, for the few guests who can only take so much waiting before keeping their temper in check becomes an impossibility, impatience breeds impatience in others. I saw it time and again, at our attraction with an outdoor queue, especially during the warmest months and the hottest and stickiest parts of the day: one guest would lose their cool, and another guest not too far away (in line) would start to lose it, and pretty soon we had what we called (back then, at that attraction) a "hostile takeover." Come prepared to wait. I wish it weren't like that, but...patience. (Also, lots of water and sunscreen.)

Don't remember the name. Was she at Inside the Magic: Special Effects and Production Tour? (Forgot to mention that.) That was the walking tour with the bee from "Honey..." and the soundstages (and Bette Midler's pigeon/lottery movie). It started with the water tank. I worked with a lot of people, some of whom I barely knew.

....that was.....HILARIOUS! :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :rotfl2:

:lmao: dd didn't want to stay at vista. that was her third choice. she did get what she wanted and lived in chatham. her best friend lived in vista so she was over there alot anyway. :lmao:
he wasn't lying, those places are locked up like a prison. for me to get in there I had to have her sign both my wife and I in, they take a copy of your drivers lic. and also record your plate. there is a guard shack with motorized gates. :lmao: (I didn't see a tower or dogs with lasers but I wouldn't put it past them.):lmao:

Worked in Magic Kingdom as a park greeter. Part of our duties is greeting guests as they exit and answering any questions they may have about getting back to the hotel or parking. Typically after the fireworks end, we are consistently bombarded by people who need to get back to the MK parking lot/TTC with the question "which is faster, ferry boat or Express monorail?" While the answer we tell you is one of the two, we aren't trained to mention that the RESORT Monorail also goes back to the TTC, and the wait time for that monorail is usually only 5-10 minutes versus the 20-30 minute wait for Express monorail or ferry boat. It is IMO one of my locations better kept secrets because nowhere is it advertised that the resort monorail also stops at the TTC. Good to know after a long day of magic :thumbsup2

I popped into this thread once but I thought I would share some more advice - in the mornings when the park just opens, always start in the back of the park and work forward. This is true for any of the parks (trust me - I've worked at Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld). It's so tempting to go on the very first ride you see but it will be very crowded since everyone will have the same idea and temptation. Instead, go to the back. Those rides or character interaction lines will be slow since few people have made their back there. Then, in the afternoon, go back to the front. By then most of the people who entered the park first thing in the morning will be filtering to the back. The only exception for this is brand new or really popular rides (Harry Potter in Universal and Islands, Antarctica in SeaWorld, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Anna and Elsa in Magic Kingdom). People will run to those no matter where they are in the park. Always plan ahead.

Lots of great tips, love the ice cream one. Be nice to the CMs, I don't think I could do their job and 'please' and 'thank you' cost nothing and could get you something, like my admittance to New Fantasyland Florida Residents only soft opening. Nothing is perfect, even Disney, but, it's up to you to make it a great trip, the CMs are there to help you, but, they are not miracle workers if you are determined to be stroppy.
