When asked yesterday what was her "must-do" at MK next week, DD9 said, "I want Daddy to be 'that guy'!"

Is there a certain place to try to sit or is it totally just luck of the draw?

Thanks!

Don't know but good luck. My DD wants to ride the tea cups with Alice so I feel your pain.

I don't know, but they got me the first time we went, and I never went back:rotfl2: I sit it out while the rest of the family goes.

Mine too. And I am not even lying by saying a friend of mine has gone twice, and BOTH times her DD got to ride with Alice, without even asking.

I think it's just luck but maybe you could try sweetly asking a CM of have her bring a sign in saying "I'm "that" guy" or something else that would draw attention to her.

Good luck! :)

I've never seen "That Guy" be a girl.
My DD19 was chosen as the one to "buy churros" last trip. She thought I'd be picked for something since I was on the aisle, she was next to me, one seat in. Turned out to be her.

I think it's luck of the draw... my husband was 'That guy' once we were with a friend so he behaved. LOL

I think they probably look for certain qualities. I would love for my dad to be picked to be that guy. I was once the rebel spy on the Star Wars ride. I think that has to do with sitting in the middle. I always wanted my daughter to be picked as Boo since that is her nickname.

DD9 doesn't want to be that guy, she wants her Daddy to be that guy.

It has to do with sitting down and looking forward. Not messing with the storage net underneath or helping others with seatbelts or anything. Basically they need to get a good face shot of you.

Why do you sit it out? Aw, being "that guy" is great!

I would imagine sitting with your arms crossed and looking disinterested would help. I wouldn't oversell it though because they might think that's why you're doing it and they probably want to get people that don't know about it.

I think "that guy" has a certain tough, mean or grumpy look, lack of charm and possibly disheveled...
Try wearing something that stands out...like bright shirt. I was picked once (to get up and dance) and I sure didn't want to...realized I was wearing a bright yellow shirt...stood out I think.

Alternative method: ride a dozen times in a row, stare directly at the camera, and mug like your life depends on it. Out of 13 ride-throughs last year, my buddy and I were the rebel spy a combined 9 times. It was great. :darth:

We've done Laugh Floor probably a dozen times. It seems like "that guy" is always on the right side of the room and in the first half of the rows. He is usually not sitting on the end of a row either. So my advice would be to sit on the right side, four or so rows back. That MAY increase your chances of getting picked. Good Luck :thumbsup2

I also want to add, DH said he had one of those lamps in front of him.

My husband was "that guy" our first trip. His name is Mike, that seemed to be a running gag- and he is bald and very broad in the chest (muscular) The kids loved it. He got a button I think that said "I'm THAT guy"

I was That Guy once and Sully twice. I'm a wheelchair user so I sit in the front row so it's not middle dependent.

I think that having an interesting face probably helps. Paying attention to the screen can't hurt either since they need someone who will notice when he is on the screen. With my bald head and beard I can see why they picked me for Sully. :rotfl2:

My DH was picked last year. We were on the right side next to the middle aisle right around the middle row back. I agree that they might be looking for some characteristics. I can't remember if my DH left his floppy tourist hat on or not; if not, it could have partially been the fact that he is balding that helped him get picked. He's the last person that wants to be picked for something like this, so it could also be that "disinterested" look that someone else mentioned!
Good luck!

LOL, I was "that guy" the first time I ever did that attraction with my wife and (then) 3 year old.

I'm guessing because I'm sort of a scruffy/hairy guy with a full beard. :thumbsup2

I noticed that the guy who was picked out as Sulley was wearing a light blue tshirt, and the guy picked to be Mike was in a lime green tshirt!!

So if he has a monster-colored shirt, make sure he's wearing it ! :sulley:

DH has been picked to be Sulley the last 2 times we've done it. We weren't sitting in the same area the 2nd time. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but he has a beard. He really got into it and it was great!

He's not always a fan of being the center of attention (heaven forbid I have a restaurant sing Happy Birthday to him...) so I asked him what he would do if they chose him to be the guy to get up and dance. He surprised me when he immediately said he'd get up and dance. I guess that's what showing your Disney Side means. :)
