ADRs? Yes We Made Stinking ADRs - A June '15 Dining Report - Updated 10/10: Sassagoula & Wrap-up

Ahhhhh! She picked the same one that I'm wearing in my avatar! Your child has impeccable taste! I love it! :cutie:
#Twinning

The fries at Plaza are to die for, yum!!
Totally agree. Thick, crispy, and salty perfection

She's so stinking adorable. Add face paint? Holy crow!
She's pretty darn cute!

Jason's Plaza milkshake looks delicious...although personally I would have gotten chocolate! ;)
I would have gotten chocolate and bailey's if only that was an option ; )

I thought that looked familiar lol!!

Yours is the 2nd really good review I've read of the Plaza in the last couple weeks. We got ice cream there for the first time last month, but now I really want to eat there! Our Nov. trip is pretty full ADR wise :scratchin I'll have to look at our January trip :)
It's a great stop instead of a counter service lunch if you can fit it in.

Casey has very good taste in food so I know I am in for a treat when I have my first one next month!
Yep just follow her right to the churro love.

All meals should start with a milkshake! Brillant.
All meals? All everything should start with a milkshake ; )

She is so stickin' cute and love the photoshoot.
Thanks. She's all her Daddy but there's half my DNA rolling around in there somewhere

Staying at POFQ we wanted to take advantage of the boat to DTD at least once, since we hadn't been over there in years. I must confess I am the worst girl ever and despise shopping, so that coupled with the crowds and construction had us staying firmly away. But with the "great" transportation options it had to be done, right?

So after a brief rest and some pool time we headed over to the boat launch and waited, and waited, and waited. Unfortunately every boat to DTD was showing up nearly full from Riverside and they could only take a handful of people at a time. So we ended up waiting about 25 minutes for a boat and were finally able to get on the 4th boat to DTD to come by. Did i mention it was June and a brisk 450 degrees outside, so of course the wait in the sun was nice and refreshing to boot ; ) Not sure if this is the norm or not, but clearly not ideal.

We finally made it to DTD for a bit of shopping and water play before dinner, which my girl loved.

Her Mama not so much.

We eventually made our way over to Jason's father's day meal - Raglan Road. This was a first for us and with all the good reviews coupled with the dancing for Casey, I was really excited to try it. Unfortunately our waiting drama continued and we had over a 30 minute wait for our table, despite being told it would only be 15 minutes when we checked in. Not sure if it was father's day or what causing the issues, but all was forgiven when we were seated with a table right next to the stage. The dancers were just finishing up their set when we sat down and to say Casey was in awe was an understatement. She requested multiple times to go on stage, and luckily her dream would eventually come true ; )

Now onto what I know you all really care about FOOD!!!!!! Our waitress very quickly brought out their signature irish bread with Guinness reduction.

I wasn't a huge fan of their bread, but it got decidedly better dipped in the wonderfully hoppy and sugary reduction.

For our beverages I got the very Irish O'Miller O'Lite (I'll spare you a picture) and Jason
frustrated from all the waiting thus far, needed something a bit stronger.

This is their Blood Orange Bourbon, which was
Bulleit Bourbon, Nolet's Gin, and San Pellegrino Blood Orange. This was way too strong for me, but it seemed to get Jason out of his frustration funk. Later he went a good old Smithwicks Irish Ale...

To start our meal I'd read so many good things about their sausage appetizer I just knew we had to try it.

Meet the Dalkey Duo - Battered cocktail sausages with a Dalkey mustard dipping sauce. Not sure what the duo portion of this was, but you really can't go wrong the tiny fried sausages and the mustard dipping sauce was delicious. I'd definitely order this again.

For entree's Jason was in the mood for a burger so the Burger 'R" Way it was for him.

This was a char-grilled sirloin beef burger with irish bacon, tomato chutney and Dubliner vintage cheddar, which he'd ordered medium rare. Still unsure why he ordered a burger in the face of all the Irish options, but this was a solid burger though a bit overcooked for his liking. The fries were delicious and salty, though we nicknamed them lava fries as they were scalding hot.

For our meal, I got the fish and chips for Casey and I to share.

While you can't see it in the picture there was a lone piece of beer bettered fish in the mix with all those fries. For $19 I'm still shocked there was only one piece of fish for us to share. Had I known I would have ordered her something else. But there were clearly lots of fries for us to get loaded up on. As for the meal, the fish and chips (mine were lava fries too) were good but nothing spectacular. From what I recall I would say that the counter service in England was better. I didn't try the tarter sauce, as I doused mine in copious amounts of malt vinegar. Yum!

As we ate we loved all the entertainment. Which was first an Irish band

And then the dancers

Casey was enthralled with the dancers and was quite pleased with herself when she was chosen to go up on stage

Later she even asked one of them for an autograph, so the girl was definitely smitten.

For dessert we knew we had to try their famous bread pudding

This is Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding, which comes with butterscotch and custard sauces. The exposed part of the bread pudding was a bit dry, but inside the cup was deliciously gooey bread pudding. The butterscotch sauce was divine and really added to the flavor of the pudding. While this wasn't as ooey or gooey as my beloved Liberty Tree Tavern Toffee cake, it was pretty darn good.

To wash it all down I got an irish coffee

While strangely served in a wine glass, this was a hit simultaneously pumping me with caffeine and booze at the same time ; )

Overall, we enjoyed the Raglan Road experience. The sausages and bread pudding were delicious, and you can't beat the entertainment and atmosphere. They also take reservations via OpenTable, so no charging you if you god forbid might change you plans the day of the meal. We'll definitely give it a go again and try and other options. With our Tables in Wonderland card we saved $22.20

Unfortunately for us our transportation troubles were not yet over. After a lengthy wait for a bus (we didn't want to chance the boat again) we finally made it to Port Orleans, but for some reason went to Riverside first (normally French Quarter is first). I figured this was DTD protocol, but after Riverside we headed toward POFQ and then drove right by it. Within about 1.5 seconds I'd hurled myself to the front of the bus to question what the driver was doing. Whoops he forgot ; ) We ended up going to Old Key West where we turned around and finally made it to POFQ about an hour after we'd first gotten in the bus line. Clearly the transportation gods were not on our side today.

Up next, our last day and we finish this ADR loaded bad boy up ; (

I got the very Irish O'Miller O'Lite...To wash it all down I got an irish coffee

I was appalled at the choice of a Miller Lite, but you redeemed yourself with the coffee. :P
Sorry you were not overwhelmed with the RR food. We've had many a good meal here. Of course, Mikka also received more then one piece of fish. What a treat to see your daughter dancing on stage!

Geez, what a transportation trip!! When we stayed at POFQ I remember the DTD bus was the only one that stopped at Riverside first The wait was bad enough leaving DTD, bus was crowded, then we're the 2nd stop :headache: I love DTD though, especially now (oops! Disney Springs) so we go pretty much every trip.
I know I'm in the minority but RR is like a hit or miss for us. All 4 of us had lunch there in 2014 and it was good for 2 of us; DH and I did lunch in March and loved it; all of us had dinner last month, not good :( DH has decided we'll be staying away for awhile. Glad overall Jasons Father's Day dinner was a hit!

I've never had the burger at Raglan Road, but Jason's looked really good so I might consider ordering it on a future trip. And why in the world do they serve their Irish coffee in a wine glass??? :confused3 Weird!

I must confess I am the worst girl ever and despise shopping, so that coupled with the crowds and construction had us staying firmly away. But with the "great" transportation options it had to be done, right?
I despise shopping and this was the major reason we avoided DTD for years. It was only the inticement of the boats that brought us back there. :)

We visited POR on a Sunday in April and had a similar experience. The line for the boat was crazy long and we figured that we would have to wait for the 4th boat. So we decided to walk to POFQ, sample the famous beignets (not impressed), and grab the boat from there. The line was shorter and we only had to wait for the second boat. While in line we started talking to a local couple. We found out that non resort guests were parking at the PO resorts so that they could take the boat to DTD instead of fighting the construction mess. I'm not sure how they got in the parking lot, I think they had Florida annual passes, but I would be surprised to find out that a lot of non resort guests were doing this. Our boat to DTD from POR on a Saturday at the end of August was not crowded at all.

While you can't see it in the picture there was a lone piece of beer bettered fish in the mix with all those fries. For $19 I'm still shocked there was only one piece of fish for us to share. Had I known I would have ordered her something else.
Was this a mistake? I can't believe they would only offer one piece of fish. That can't be right.

Casey was enthralled with the dancers and was quite pleased with herself when she was chosen to go up on stage
That must have been a lot of fun for her. I didn't know they did this.

Overall, we enjoyed the Raglan Road experience. The sausages and bread pudding were delicious, and you can't beat the entertainment and atmosphere. We are staying at POR in June with the free dining BB. We are thinking of eating here one night. It wouldn't be on a Sunday, though. ;)

We haven't tried Raglan Road, however we have had the joy of the boat transportation, I remember having to wait quite some time at both POFQ and Riverside. The ride is nice once you get on the boat. We may try RR in April. We both love fish and chips, the app looked really good as well as the famous bread pudding yummy. We didn't go to DD this September, is it getting better as far as construction goes?

Hope you had a great trip!

I love the pictures of Casey dancing. That girl is loving it!

Jason's burger looks pretty good. I was considering that last time and by the looks of it, and the schnitzel miss, I probably should've gone with the burger. There are more Irish items but it seems like it's a unique burger.

The lone piece of fish is nuts. My mom ordered those and had the exact same reaction. We thought the ones at Yorkshire County in UK were better!

I had my eye on the sausages. They look delicious. And that bread pudding YUM!

It took us forever to get to and from Downtown Disney on the boats as well. Lovely little adventure but yeah it took way longer than necessary lol.

We haven't been to RR in a while. I hope to get there next year when DH and I take our solo trip. Jason's burger looks really good. I am not a fish & chips person but even I can say that portion was a bit sad!

Oh my word about the bus! I would not have been a happy camper, that's for sure! How could the driver forget a stop!

What a horribly frustrating transportation situation. That burger looks delicious but what a bummer about the fish and chips. I am not typically a fan of bread pudding but I love the one at Raglan Road!

Staying at POFQ we wanted to take advantage of the boat to DTD at least once,

Definitely on our list for our upcoming trip!!

Unfortunately every boat to DTD was showing up nearly full from Riverside and they could only take a handful of people at a time.

Ugh...that's not....good...

Not sure if this is the norm or not, but clearly not ideal.

Gawd...I really hope not...I don't want to have to budget that kind of time to get around...sigh...

Jason's father's day meal - Raglan Road

Sounds awesome. We are planning to go there for dinner - have been for lunch but never dinner...

Blood Orange Bourbon,

Yum...that actually looks really good...

tiny fried sausages and the mustard dipping sauce was delicious. I'd definitely order this again.

On my list. In fact, I may make a meal of appetizers only...and then get dessert later at the candy store...

I doused mine in copious amounts of malt vinegar.

Are you a closet Canadian? :)

We too have had the roundabout way to DTD by way of Saratoga Springs...oh that was a tense night! I am not good under pressure when I am not exactly sure where I am going :rolleyes1
Next trip we are going to Raglan Road, it just looks like a fun place! The food looks good too, we will not be ordering the lots and lots of chips with one lone fish though :upsidedow

Sorry the transportation to/from DD and entrees at RR weren't great! I can't get over that 1 piece of fish. That's just so wrong. But I am glad you enjoyed the entertainment and the dancing. Sounds like you landed a prime table and after your wait, you deserved it. Hoping your next visit to RR is even better.

Transportation to DTD can be frustrating! We have tried boat, bus and car but still seems to take forever! We honestly have had the best luck with just us driving. We did Raglan Road last year and I am not sure if I was expecting something more with all the hype but it's not on our return soon list. I did love the scallop forest and the entertainment was good, but service and main meal - meh!

I stayed one night at POFQ back in February. It is now my favorite resort! Loving the reviews.

Unfortunately our waiting drama continued and we had over a 30 minute wait for our table, despite being told it would only be 15 minutes when we checked in.
I had this same experience at Raglan Road. It took ages to be seated! :sad2:

Not sure if it was father's day or what causing the issues, but all was forgiven when we were seated with a table right next to the stage.
Hey, at least you got a good table! I got stuck a corner with a view of diddly squat.

Now onto what I know you all really care about FOOD!!!!!! Our waitress very quickly brought out their signature irish bread with Guinness reduction.

I wasn't a huge fan of their bread, but it got decidedly better dipped in the wonderfully hoppy and sugary reduction.
I didn't try the bread on it's own, but I loved dipping it in that stuff that came with it! Yum!

Later he went a good old Smithwicks Irish Ale...
I love this beer. :lovestruc

I was torn between this and the scallops (served in the same manner). I ended up going with the scallops, and they were DELICIOUS. I think it'll have to be the sausages next time, though. YUM.

For entree's Jason was in the mood for a burger so the Burger 'R" Way it was for him.

This was a char-grilled sirloin beef burger with irish bacon, tomato chutney and Dubliner vintage cheddar, which he'd ordered medium rare. Definitely try something else next time! These are both pretty lackluster compared to the rest of the menu. (And I'd heard rumor that their fish n chips portion is sad, which is strange, since so many of their entrees have massive portions!)

Casey was enthralled with the dancers and was quite pleased with herself when she was chosen to go up on stage

Awww, yay! How cuuuuute! :cutie:

To wash it all down I got an irish coffee

I got this, and really liked it! But alas, no wine glass for me. I must not have appeared classy enough... Mine came in a mason jar :
20140925_174256-1.jpg

Wait, now that I think about, mine was an Iced Irish Coffee. Maybe that's why? :confused3

We'll definitely give it a go again and try and other options.
Definitely do! I loved the food here, and there's sooooo many options!

Up next, our last day and we finish this ADR loaded bad boy up ; (
Normally I would be sad about this. However, since I already know that once you finish up here, you'll have a whole 10 days in September worth of food to share with us... SO BRING IT ON. :thumbsup2

I always get the heavenly ham dish when we go to Raglan Road. I haven't been able to make myself venture out and try something different yet as the ham is just so good! I'm not a fan of bread pudding so I haven't done the pudding yet but I have tried the lemon meringue tart and the dunbrody's kiss. I definitely preferred the lemon tart as the chocolate had some weird shavings of something in the other dessert that didn't appeal to me. The dancing and singing are definitely pluses of Raglan Road!
