Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

whats good at captians grille??

Everything we have tried has been great. What we've had:

Lunch
Lobster Roll
Angus Chuck Burger
Tomato and Mozzarella Sandwhich
Seared Scallop Salad
Pan Roasted Salmon

Dinner
Short Ribs
Crab Legs
Lamb Chops
Crab Cakes
New York Strip

We like Cape May's breakfast buffet so haven't tried Captain's Grille for breakfast yet.

we had the breakfast buffet last year when staying at bwv was thinking of trying a dinner this time. as long as food is good! the actual restaurant seemed kinda generic so was wondering if the dinner prices and quality were worth it!

Captain's Grille is a restaurant that is definitely under the radar. The theming is non-existent (or very subtle), so I don't think a lot of people consider it, especially if they are staying somewhere else.

@natebenma I noticed you mentioned Captain's Grill is your family's traditional first night dinner place. I thought that was a great idea! I made a switch, and that's where we will be our first night next month. Thanks for sharing! :flower1:

We were first attracted here because it was convenient. On our first Beach Club stay, our arrival dinner was Cape May, and it was great, but we were so tired after getting up at 3 am, our flight from Boston, a few hours at MK and then some time at EPCOT that it was a hassle getting up and going to the buffet. We found it was much better to have a restaurant where you can sit and be served on that first night, and Captain's Grille fits the bill for great food, decent (by Disney standards) prices and location.

::yes::

I have had 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 3 dinners at Captain's Grille (links to my reviews of all of these meals are on Page 1, Post 7- Dining, along with reviews from others

My very favorite thing was the Chef's Pasta, which I think was the special when we dined in 2013, but was on the menu in Aug 2015. YUM!!!

July 2013, dinner
Chef’s Pasta – Braised short rib, arugula and tagliatelle pasta
Both Mark and I ordered this, which is extremely unusual because we typically order different entrées and share. But this sounded so good- and it was- we each got our own

The made-to-order clam chowder that we got at lunch was the best clam chowder this New Englander has ever had.

July 2013, lunch:
Nate ordered a virgin Miami Vice, Clam Chowder and Lobster Sliders. The waitress asked if he wanted the regular clam chowder or the made-to-order one. Nate, who has never met an extravagance he didn’t like, got the custom chowder. I had a taste and it was SOOOOOOO good!

We have had many of the menu items you have had, and agree that they have been excellent.

Lobster Roll, Burger, Seared Scallop appetizer, Short Ribs in the pasta (Mmmmm), Crab Legs, Crab Cakes and the NY Strip.

The steak was excellent, and we didn't have to pay Yachtsman prices.

Yup!

Hi everyone! We're staying at YC one night, March 26, with our DGKs before moving "home" to Kidani. We originally booked for Sun-Fri, then added Sat, but didn't have points available to add at Kidani. So I "sacrificed" and we're trying YC for the first time! I'm really hoping the weather is pretty, and we get to spend some time at SAB on Easter Sunday before we move. I'm really excited about our stay! We'll arrive early Saturday evening after a long drive, and just hang out Sunday - no parks. We have Easter Brunch at Cape May Cafe and dinner the night before at Captain's Grille. And it's only 16 days away - yahoo!

We're in a garden view room. The most important request I have is the 3rd bed. DGS13 and DGD9 have gotten too old to sleep together, and DGS's sleeping style is such that DH really doesn't want to sleep with him. (Roll much? Thank you, don't mind if I do!) What is the best way for me to word my request when I call?

TIA!

I can't get TiW with my UK tickets. I do have my exchange vouchers for Annual Passes from our wedding but it's seems a bit excessive to trade them in for the sake of a cocktail (or 4) :bitelip:
I see what you are saying. Whatever you decide know your invisible friends support your decision. :D

I would request a room with a daybed. There are a lot of garden view rooms that have them. We seem to keep getting garden view rooms with daybeds and there are just two of us. ;) We don't ask for them, either.

Thanks for the tip! I looked at the menu and the elbow pasta might be another option that would work for him (minus the turkey marinara because he won't eat any type of meat).

Thanks for the suggestion! He would actually love the bucket and pail, but not any of their food. We would probably order the kids turkey sandwich or something for him to get the pail and eat the carrots and grapes, and my 16 year old DS would eat the sandwich. Do you know if they are open during pool hours or just limited hours?
They were open during pool hours the last time we were there. I hope you and your family have fun. They also had life vests to borrow in a lot of different sizes. But, it was a first come, first serve basis.

We end up at Captain's Grille quite often. We had breakfast and lunch lunch there our last trip. We have dinner there in May and will most definitely fit it in during our September trip.
