May 2016 Car Rentals

So I keep hearing "we got a better deal with Costco". What kind of deal h mbmbare we talking? Should I be happy with a compact card for $250 ?(including all the taxes) or am I paying too much?
your paying too much when you can get a compact for $135 for the dates you wanted with the correct coupons and codes folks are posting

Thanks to all for posting the discount info and discussing the validity of the coupon codes. I am an Alamo insider and I had booked through Costco previously for $392.92 for a mid size for 5/20-6/4. Didn't think I'd get it lower but today I got it for $304.90 using the $25 coupon code AD3868JST, Costco contract id 7014627, and product code AS1.

Good luck to all trying for a better rate. This pays for our Be Our Guest lunch plus a few Mickey bars!!!

Coscto prices for minivans for our trip at the end of the month are trending down. Looks like a good sign though still nothing as cheap as the VB with $50 coupon.

Alamo is dropping for my dates (5/14-5/22). I had a standard SUV using the iffy $50 coupon code and AS1 code for $339.

I checked earlier this morning using the AS1 code and the $25 off coupon that 44disney mentioned a couple posts ago and booked the standard SUV at $280. Checked again just now with the same codes and got it for $250.

I love this thread! :jumping1:

Try this contract ID: 7014926. I found it online somewhere and it just says "save with Alamo". It saved me another $10 off the Costco rate.

Ive used them before, no problems, no upcharging, nothing like that...sign up for fastbreak and skip the counter
Anyone have experience renting from Budget at MCO? Costco travel has decent rates for our May trip right now and I'm considering switching from our existing Alamo reservation to Budget.

I rent a car at MCO 5-7 times per year. I have used Budget about 4 times, else it's mainly Alamo. I prefer Alamo and would only do Budget if I had significant savings (at least $25). If you use them, I'd definitely sign up for Fastbreak and go straight to the garage. Make sure you check your receipt carefully when you drop it off and watch your credit card bill. They charged me after the fact for Sunpass tolls that I know weren't owed by me. Customer Service was very rude and they never did credit me for the charge despite saying they would (it was $15 so I decided it wasn't worth another phone call). I've never had any issues with Alamo and I love their online checkin.

checking in from sunny Orlando:) System was not recognizing the $50 coupon for our weekly rental. I requested that the clerk at gate adjust it. She had to make a phone call to supervisor which resulted in my rate for a midsize dropping further to $88. She indicated they've been having trouble with their CC processing in spurts for last two weeks. We sat there with line building behind us for a good half hour.

this after over an hour in SWA's luggage department for a totalled suitcase issue, which they did reimburse me, but that's another story lol

So glad it worked for you! But I do have to ask what happened with your totalled suitcase? I'm travelling SWA this Saturday with brand new luggage that wasn't cheap so now I'm worried.

no idea, a 1,000 pound gorilla? haha

no worries, 1st major issue with SWA in over an decade of heavy travel for us. things happen, at least they did me right.:)

Costco rates are slowly creeping down for us. Checked again this morning and they were another $10 down from last night for a minivan at the end of the month. I have combined the Costco contract ID with the Entertainment $25 off specialty coupon code. The rates are about the same as we had booked with the AS1 product code, which I cancelled. I am thinking that the Entertainment coupon will not be as problematic as some of the others reported here where the source is unknown

I actually went through and cleaned up a bunch of old reservations that I still had out there using a mixture of AS1, TB1 and the now problematic coupons. Here is hoping they think they now have more availability and will lower rates even more :)

Update from MCO
Skipped the counter, went to the exit, asked them to check my rate. It honored the $50 coupon, although my rate went up 90 cents.
No issue at all.
So It worked for me, don't know why, but not complaining

That sounds promising! Still have a reservation booked with this coupon. Hoping for more rental stories like this.

Thanks for the update. Did you check-in online before you left and skip the counter? Or, did you use the kiosk at the airport, then go out to the garage? I'm trying to decide if I should cancel using this coupon. For only $10. more I can use the Alamo upgrade coupon, Disney AP and AS1 product, but get a lesser size vehicle. That's my only hang up - I love picking from the standard/full-size aisle and this will drop me to a mid-size. Hope you have a great trip!

Costco rates for us are down again a few bucks. They seem to have been dropping about $10 each day for the last several days. I continue to book and cancel.

Can y'all remind me how the tolls work getting from MCO to WDW and back?
GLAD you posted this as a "reminder" to research for our upcoming trip as it has been about 3 years that we rented in Orlando. It seems each car rental company CHARGES for the sunpass whether or not you use it. For example, we are renting through Alamo and I believe they charge $3.95 per day for the USE of the Sunpass, maximum $19.75 per rental period. The per toll usage is charged extra. I have read to SCRUTINIZE your car rental bills as we always have, but now that we know that the USE of Sunpass will be automatically charged, we will be EXTRA CAREFUL to review bill.:scared1:::yes::

THANKS for code!:goodvibes Just checked for our trip later this month, our 1 week and 1 half day, virtually 8 day rental and our Premium car was $318.15(all in) through Alamo, but that was booked several months ago. Code was significantly higher. Did check with the code, a 7 passenger minivan and the rate with code is $283.96(all in). Savings of $35.00. Think that even though we don't need the extra room "per se", Premium category for Alamo such as a Chrysler 300 would be nice, but they also said it could be a smaller car in the Premium category.

Costco rates for my 7 days later this month are lower too, but still no where near what I have with the coupons and as1 code for fullsize. I have $120 if I use the reservation with the $50 coupon and $148 with the $25 coupon. Costco rates are $218 for fullsize. They do have a good minivan rate of $203 through budget but I drive a minivan at home and I would rather drive a "car" on vacation.

I was just messing around with codes on budgets website and I can get an intermediate SUV from May 14th-20th for $169 total. Just made a reservation as a back up in case alamo gives me a hard time on my $158 reservation. If anyone is interested the BCD code is D726100 and I believe it's good until 6/15 and the coupon code is mugz027 which is $35 off.

Thanks for the info! I booked an the intermediate SUV May 19-26 for $173 total using your
codes. Still not sure what reservation I will end up using, but it's nice to have options!

FYI, I tried using the Costco BCD code of W852802 with the above $35 coupon and the minivan rate was super cheap (around $160 I think), so if anyone is looking for a minivan you might try that.
