A follow up on my Disney Springs post.

We had an okay week down here, fighting through the rain. Managed to do Frozen at 2 minutes before closing with about a 13 minute wait. Mine Train broke down during our FP period, no time to go back to it so no Mine Train yet again. Test Track broke down during our FP, we had to leave so no Test Track.

But this post is about my disappointment in EPCOT. We were there last Sunday, hardly any rain, no crowds and we had a nice day.

We went back today(Saturday) to take a stroll through the World Showcase and hit some attractions(TT) that we missed on Sunday.

Oh boy.....

It sickens me to see every other person walking around with beer, wine, shots. It is completely ridiculous. Even more annoying were the(no exaggeration either) 25+ bridal/bacherlorette parties I seen strolling around, drinking every chance and every spot they could. Not to mention the groups or millennials there obviously just to drink. Treating World Showcase like a St Paddy's day pub crawl.

AND ALL OF THIS ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON???
I'd hate to see what the night looks like.

I will never visit World Showcase on a weekend again, and after seeing this garbage, I don't think I'll be back for a loooooong time. I know the F & W festival had become a drunk fest, but now every weekend is as well. I'm out, and yes, I will be writing an e-mail stating my dissatisfaction even though I'm not the type of person that usually would do that. In fact I think I have done it one time before and coincidentally it was to Disney about the MNSSHP, when they started over selling it.

In the 30+ trips I've had to Disney I have never once seen unruly drunks at Epcot. I'm sure there are, but either I'm just lucky or obliviously enjoying MY OWN vacation. I don't drink...but I'm not sanctimonious about it or anything, I just don't like the way alcohol tastes and I don't like to feel "altered", and I don't have a problem if others want to drink.

Epcot continues to be our favorite park. Sorry it's lost its "muchness" for you.

Gee, you sound like a ton of fun...

Epcot (and WDW as a whole) is for everyone, not just families, and not just non drinkers. Epcot doesn't have much going for it these days, honestly, in terms of rides, so naturally DISNEY is very much pushing the World Showcase and the associated food and drink (and festivals and concerts) to entice adults to spend time there. They are constantly opening up new lounges and drink stands and promoting them. They now serve hard soda ice cream floats by Test Track. Alcohol sells and Disney is smart to expand their offerings of it. I promise if they were experiencing numerous problems with drunk guests, they would make changes. Obviously it's not a problem.

I personally have no issue with people drinking and having a good time. I drink lightly-moderately. I maybe have 3 drinks a week, if that. I enjoy drinking at Epcot because they have some unique things there that I can't find elsewhere. It's fun. It's relaxing. It's a great way for adults to have fun at Epcot.

I really find these sort of complaints about World Showcase to be blown out of proportion and frankly, rather prudish and overly conservative. It is a theme park, for goodness sakes, not a church outing. I have been there for two Food and Wine festivals (on weekend days) and have never witnessed even the levels of drunkenness I see at sporting events and local bars on a regular basis.

So having a glass of wine or a cup of beer somewhere that serves both makes it garbage?

Unless people were unrully why does it matter if someone else has an alcoholic drink? Drinking is allowed in every single park now (only Dinner at BOG at MK br still). It a guest was unruly sure but I worked at Epcot and spent a lot of time there and can tell you just as many sober people act silly going around the world as drunks. I have some stories to tell but nothing that happened outside of the festivals.

Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself but please understand that someone can be walking around holding a drink and not be drunk. I'm sitting on my couch with a glass of wine right now and I walk around Epcot with a beer or glass of wine when I go and if that glass was not in my hand there would be no way you would know I had been drinking alcohol. To each their own, if they aren't being rude or disruptive and are legal age, what they are drinking is no one else's business.

Sounds like World Showcase is not really your thing. I'm sure there are plenty of other vacation spots you can go to without having to worry about being "sickened" by people walking around with alcoholic beverages. Hope you have happier travels in the future.
