Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

I'm not normally a race photo person, but I bought the Memory Maker
Can we link our bib number to Photo Pass that we've purchased before the race (like now) or do we have to wait until after the race?

I did a Memory Maker advance purchase (149 instead of 169) and assume it will work for the race. I have to wait 3 business days for any pictures to be available. And the race falls within the 30 day window so they should. Nothing said it had to be a specific purchase (unlike in Paris...)

Hi! Bopping over from another rundisney event thread because I'm a lurker. Does rundisney use the McMillan pace calculator? I kind of assumed that they did when I entered my Tink registration so I matched up my 10k proof with the estimated finish for 1/2 marathon the calculator gave me...instead of just going with my 10k pace times 13.1 miles. Is that the right way to do it?
I could see where people submitting the same 10k proof but calculating expected 1/2 time could be way off from each other, right?

Sorry for being a thread hijacker.

In past races, I've submitted a 10k time to Disney and they gave me an estimated half finish time, which was close to McMillan's (Disney was 1-3 minutes less though). They don't seem to give you their estimated time now that submission is through active. So yes, I would use McMillan to estimate your finish time, but if you are right on the edge of a range, I think rounding down a couple of minutes would work too.

Ok, thank you. I am known to panic at the thought of doing something incorrectly. My current proof estimates out to 2:26 using one popular calculator and 2:24 using another. And the range I choose was 2:21 to 2:25. I had a mild panic attack at the thought of being bumped to the last corral if Disney didn't like my selected time.
My plan B right now is to go crush my next race to submit a better time...but no idea if I can physically do it yet. Thanks for the reply!

Everyone have fun at your races. I'm rooting for you all :)

I have been trying to decide what to do here - I have my 20 year old cousin coming with me. She usually is in bed by 10pm (I know a strange 20 year old!) and can't drink. I'd love her to be able to come for a couple of hours, but I realize that making it to 1:00pm is just not going to happen. But $80 for 2 hours is just so hard to validate! But then, so is abandoning her in the room :(

I might talk to your cousin and let her know the timing of the after party and find out if she's interested. The worse thing would be her wanting to go and not having a ticket or being able to get one! If my mom was coming with me, I would leave her in the room because she'd be in bed and I'm not missing a party in Epcot for running :yay: I admit that the price tag of the ticket is a little steep, but if you enter at 8pm I figure it's worthwhile.

I bumped mine down to 240 so they would use the pot but also because using McMillan I was between 240 and 245 and people said it depends on the calculator and that Disney can be generous.

Someone in a facebook group said they called on the after party ticket and were told no they aren't mailing and you get it at packet pickup.....hmmm. Will be interesting to see what really happens. Oh RunDisney??!!?

I've never made it to Mexico for the after party before, but I plan to this time. La Cava Tequila isn't open for the after party by any chance, is it?

BTW, the 30-day window doesn't start until you start using Memory Maker, and your race photos are included (you just have to manually submit the Disney PhotoPass code from the Event Guide).

Attention any and all runners that are participating in the upcoming Wine and Dine weekend that this applies to.............................................

CHILL THE HELL OUT ABOUT THE CORRAL PLACEMENT YOU DID OR DID NOT GET!

It is not that big of a deal. I am a Run Disney veteran currently training for Dopey #4. Unless you are honestly a sub seeded or an "A" corral runner your time will most likely not be blazing. A lot of factors will cause this. Crowds, photo stops, crowds and most importantly 15 people across running groups.

The point of this semi unpleasant tyrade is to remind folks to remember at the end of the day we're running a 5k, 10k, half marathon or a combo of these and not working our daily 9-5. DON'T SWEAT THE PETTY STUFF AND DON'T PET THE SWEATY STUFF!!!

See everybody in a few weeks.

@tri4life your post doesn't apply to me but I think it was a little harsh. This is a discussion board - we discuss stuff. I don't recall seeing any intense complaining. :confused3

I think we have a lot of newer runners in this thread who are just tying to understand the corralling process and get advice if they feel their corralling wasn't right. Nothing wrong with that.

Sorry, but I have to disagree here. Corral placement can make a very large difference in a person's enjoyment of the runDisney experience. Moving up a few corrals can be the difference between a relatively uncongested and pleasant race experience and an exercise in frustration trying to get around masses of walkers while potentially being packed like sardines in narrow areas.

If the corral posts bother you, I suggest skimming over them or avoiding the race threads around waiver time.

What @Ariel484 said.

Also, I haven't seen so much complaining as much as I've seen serious curiousity and discussion. This is only the second race weekend since the change to 2:45 for PoT. And RD is refining PoT again even more (see: Princess Weekend where they're asking for a time-range for estimated time of finish - i.e. 2:06-2:09), so there are definite changes being made to this process by RunDisney via Active.

One last thing ...

For all intents and purposes, this is a BRAND NEW race weekend. Yeah, the name is the same, but NOTHING about this race weekend is similar to Wine & Dine weekends in the past. So, everything is up for discussion/complaint. It's also good to mention these things beforehand - because some of us will get surveys post-race while others won't, so it's good to bring up everything that could help the race experience for everyone.

Newbies or less seasoned RunDISers - please, don't let this discourage you from asking questions about things like corrals and PoT! There are many of us vets that are MORE than happy to answer questions and help calm fears!

I'm a little disappointed with the course. I understand that it's going to be different because of construction but there's so little park time. Although the last WDW race I did I had issues with people blocking the entire path in the parks, so I guess it can be a kind of positive?
I'm disappointed that this isn't a night race, though, so that might be influencing things a bit.

I'm right there with you. I knew we wouldn't have DHS but I was hoping they'd make up for it with more Epcot time. And I miss the night aspect...the atmosphere was unlike any other race I have done.

You're definitely right that we should have more space to run though. :)

So last year for W&D I had a POT of 1:26 and was in H. For Glass Slipper I used the same POT I was in I. For this race I have a POT of 1:21. I am in H again. BFF has a POT of 1:22 and was in I with me for Glass Slipper and was placed in K for Lumiere. (She was in D for Tink with the same POT) She spoke to rD today and they said she's in the right corral. Even with her POT and what it placed her in for past races. I'm starting to think it's just luck of the draw of who places you or they drew straws or something. Because there's no way one minute equals three corrals difference!

Yup - I used a POT 19 minutes faster this year than last and I am in the exact same corral - just the luck of the draw really.

I note that a lot of people are in the same boat as me and are not getting the emails re: gift card, which could in turn mean we don't get our post-race party ticket emails either. I presume the protocol if we don't have them in the next three weeks is to front up to runner relations on expo day?

I'll say this - if they replicate what they did for the Marathon this year down the stretch of Bear Island by the waste facility, y'all are in for a pretttttttttty EPIC stretch of character stops. For Marathon, instead of all being together, every Villain had their OWN character set-up. It was pretty badass and over a mile long. Hades was the BEST - there were fire explosions and everything. Greatness.

Yeah - it's all a crapshoot, really. You never know what the field is going to be like for these races - or if RD is going to go with more or less corrals than the year before (I'm talking about YOU, Disneyland Half!)
