News Round Up 2016

Actually it's been said Cameron and Iger were inside the land checking out the boat ride. Ride testing has already begun too. I would agree that the rides are likely not fully operational yet though.

I said that I figured that they would be touring the land, just that this isn't the last time they will be doing it. Hard to believe they've loaded water in the ride yet and the boats are functional. I could see them having the animatronics in place though. (Clearly the "shaman" is already in place.)

Don't know if everyone has seen this but, yeah private $650 in park cabanas!

huh...I guess I could see this as something wealthy people would want to do to get away from the riff-raff - though wouldn't you be a bit disappointed that your "Private Cabana" is a white fabric tent? Maybe not though. I'm SURE there's a market for this though.

We've always had our own private area to sit and relax in the shade on a hot day...it's called the Tomorrowland Noodle Station. :rotfl2:

From what's been said that will be the only AA of that caliber in the entire land. You'll see maybe a couple other simple AAs but the boat ride is only 4ish minutes so they are focusing a lot on projections and bioluminescence.

Yeah - I'm a little worried about this ride. I am sure the Banshee ride is going to be a lot of fun, but this is more like a dark ride, but it seems like it doesn't have a story to tell. Without a story, just glowing plants and animationic animals make it sort of like the Jungle Cruise without the jokes. Hopefully there's something they'll have that will give a "Wow" to it.

This would be terrible parade viewing. Even though the floats are high, there is no way to see the ground performers well with the trees that are in the area
Though the idea of a party with characters? Especially with Naveen who has been converted to a special event character already, that's something that would get me to try it at least once

It's actually a fun idea - until they announce it's $59.95 per person. ($54.95 for children under 10)

The AA will definitely wow and it will look very pretty it's just going to be quite short.

I think it's a really cute idea, too. I would actually be shocked if it's less than $59.95. I also wonder about the view, as @SureAsLiz mentioned. Would there be anywhere they could move and 'park' the boat that offers a better view?

I think it will be a 'going to visit the Shaman' kind of storyline, with the wow moment being an amazing scene with the shaman where she sings her song and the forest around her luminesces sympathetically - or whatever they talked about in previews. It could even be framed sort of like a 'shore excursion,' operated by the company that's bringing visitors to Pandora - you get a little tour through the bioluminescent forests, etc, with the climax being the shaman scene. I think it has potential to be very beautiful. Also, new ride tech with the boats, right? I'm hoping for closer to Shanghai Pirates (obviously not as long or dramatic, but similar scene quality) than Jungle Cruise. I'm almost more excited about this than the banshee ride, but I'm dark ride lover.

I would say Splash Mountain without the drop.

They have to move the boat. As is, the dock is not on the parade route.
My guess is they would move it closer to Splash. There's a few breaks in the trees along that stretch.

The biggest issue I am imagining is the timing of it all. If the parade doesn't end until 3:40 ish, and then Tiana and Naveen need to make it to the boat (since I assume they would use the same friends), I'm not sure a lap around would be enough time to get them there. But that's for someone else to figure out. It will be a pretty significant time investment, but will also take you out of the crowds during the busiest/hottest part of the day

This is one special offering that I will be booking when (if) it's announced.

Well, if they hold 8 people, include drinks and snacks, and reserved viewing for parades and fireworks, for around $81 per person, it might be a decent deal for some. I wonder if it's from park opening to park closing....?
I agree. If you have a large group, or 2 families. This would be a great perk, especially since you get reserved parade and fireworks viewing!! I bet that will be in the Plaza Gardens.

So it makes sense at places where there is a pool but I personally am having a hard time understanding why you would want to do this at MK or any of the other parks unless you plan to spend a significant amount of time inside of it rather than out and about in the park.

Sure the shade and food/drinks is nice but it is stationary so you would have to walk across the park back to it enough times to make it worth it. I suppose if you have people in your party who need more rest for their feet through the day it could work out. I just wouldn't want to be over at X place and trudged back over to my cabana all the time me personally.

$650 is steep to me unless you have the 8 people where it may not seem as bad.

ETA:Either way it's not for the average person not just from a money standpoint but also from a practical standpoint and a "I spent money already to be in a theme park not to be in a cabana" standpoint.

Exactly. I would pay for a cabana at a pool or on castaway cay but not inside MK.
