Is it monday yet? We land at 9:15AM and cant wait to enter Jambo house!
OctoberYay!!! We are staying for the first time. We will be there Oct. 13 -17th at Jambi house. We were lucky enough to rent a Savannah view room. We are renting DVC points for the first time as well. I cannot wait!!!!
...we were SUPPOSED to be checking into AKL this weekend, but my DH didn't sell his flip [house] soon enough.....Is it monday yet? We land at 9:15AM and cant wait to enter Jambo house!
....I have to agree to jvattes....the only thing I'd like to add is that the buses to DTD [ooops, DS!] are notoriously long, no matter the point of origin, because of its stop/pick-up at BB.We are staying at AKL for the first time in September. 1st - 5th. We are using our friends DVC points and are in a Jambo house deluxe studio. What are people's opinions on the buses? We have only stayed at the Contemporary and are concerned about the travel time to MK.
Don't mind at all, and thanks for asking!Would you mind adding me to the August group? August 21-28 at Jambo house. Thanks!
Sorry we actually just sold our house and are living in a temp apt till we find another... so its been nuts here....we were SUPPOSED to be checking into AKL this weekend, but my DH didn't sell his flip [house] soon enough.....
Our first stay we had a gorgeous pool view room with bunkbeds that was convenient to the Lobby and the Mara and the Pool - 3432. We LOVED it.
Our second stay we sprung for a savanna view because we were staying fewer days so it wasn't too much extra overall. We had 3469 overlooking the Uzima and it was fantastic. Also close to the lobby and convenient to the mara and pool (and laundry).
This stay we are going standard. Its our longest trip in years so to stay at our favorite resort we had to curb our preferences. However, there are a good number of standard rooms that have a savanna view and we have requested to be in any room within those room blocks. I'll let you know how it is.
Regardless, you can't go wrong with ANY room type at AKL. Animals are never more than a few steps away for your viewing pleasure. The only thing to know is the hallways are incredibly long and some people find the walk to the rooms further out to be inconvenient. We have always been close to the lobby at our request so this has never been an issue for us. Go with whatever fits the offer and your budget and you won't be unhappy.
Sound is NOT an issue. You can hear the pool with the balcony door open, but at night there is no pool activity, and during the day if you want it silent just close the door - it is well insulated. I LOVED our pool room so very muchThank you for that info! I went with a pool view and I'm wondering if sound would be an issue? Obviously sitting outside will be noisy but in the room it shouldn't be bad right?
I would love a savannah room but we are going to be mostly enjoying the pools and such so having a view of that will be nice! I have touring plans so hopefully I can request an upper floor in a great area
Fairly certain it's daily. The wine tasting at Jiko is limited to two days (I think Saturdays and Wednesdays - it never works into our plans LOL)Does anyone know if the the tour of Boma and Jiko is offered every day or if not which days? We are there the last few days of April and the first few of May.
It is daily. See here, scroll down to culinary section:Does anyone know if the the tour of Boma and Jiko is offered every day or if not which days? We are there the last few days of April and the first few of May.
We have booked a standard view room.
I want to request the rooms that have a partial savanna view.
What do I need to request for that?
Are these rooms on a certain trail?
Close to lobby?
High floor?
Thanks.
My online check in just opened and I am trying to decide if I should make a request. We switched to a 1 bdrm Savannah view and I am submitting a fax request w TP for a block of rooms that is close to elevators on zebra trail. Should I just leave the online check in request blank or should I check close to elevators? The choices are very are very basic, no option for specific trail.
One of these days I'm going to save this reply as a file I can just paste in a reply box to questions like yours. Many people have the same question and often express concern, but I feel there is no need to worry - and here is why:
AKL Jambo and Kidani share a bus together, but they do not share with any other resorts on property. That means when you board a bus at AKL you are on your way to your destination, no stops required. Certainly, being furthest out from MK, the ride will be a little longer from here than from, to use your example, the Contemporary. But it won't be longer than from other resorts which require a bus ride.
Other resorts share buses between them. That means, for example, if you leave WL on a bus to EP, you're going to stop at GF on the way to drop off/pick up passengers. Sometimes buses will even be shared between three resorts. It's my own personal theory that Disney has this down to a science (don't they, with everything else?). My theory is that they have worked out that for guest satisfaction, ride time cannot exceed approximately 20 minutes. So if you're coming from AKL, your ride is about 20 minutes - so no stops and no shares. But if you're coming from WL, your ride could be as short as 5-10 minutes, so guest tolerance would allow for the bus to be shared with another resort without surpassing that 20 minute mark. This allows them to use fewer buses and drivers but still meet guest experience expectations.
Basically, from what I have learned over the years, most bus rides will be in total about 15-20 minutes no matter where you're coming from/going to. The difference will be in whether or not your bus is shared or not shared.
Make sense?
Again this is just my own personal theory that I've worked out over the years. I could be totally wrong. LOL
Let me also say that except for one bus ride over three trips, we have not had ANY issues with inbound buses and have only waited for return buses at peak times such as after fireworks shows or at park closures, when all resorts would experience that same surge. AKL is such an oasis, such an escape from the fun and excitement you spend your day immersed in and for us it is the only place to stay whenever it is financially feasible for us. You're going to love it!
.....my DH buys house that need a lot of reno, fixes them up, and flips them.....his latest project is just under contract as of Wednesday.....as for the whole moving thing, I can relate - we went through that last year.Sorry we actually just sold our house and are living in a temp apt till we find another... so its been nuts here.
