We stayed at Sheraton Vistana before. The only problem here is they have many areas. Some are nicer than others. If you check in and it isn't acceptable just complain that is what we did. The one they put us in didn't look anything like the pictures (we had timeshare and had used RCI to exchange.) it was old and had iron spiral staircase. Bedrooms were upstairs and my FIL had a bad hip. The layout we are shown didn't even have stairs at all. But that was always the fear back when we traveled that way. I was always stressed until we checked in and all was okay. It was my inlaws that had. timeshare and they passed so not an option for us anymore. Other than that though never had issue. I would highly recommend Orange Lake or Summer Bay if you can get either of those.
We've stayed at Orange Lake twice. Very nice.

My first trip to Disney, we stayed offsite. The next 3 times were onsite. And actually, the last trip, we flew for the first time. I weighed the cost of parking, car rental, traffic, etc... Nothing beats the cost and convenience of letting Disney handle it all. Now, I'm not saying that it would be cost effective for a larger family. It was just 3 of us. I'm definitely hooked on flying and Disney's transportation.

It definitely is a bit cheaper, but when I had to factor in car rentals and all that, it did add up. Besides after my first onsite stay, I was hooked for life - I don't think I can do an offsite anymore unless I do a non-Disney trip, which I've done a couple of times.

I grew up going to Disney off-site, so that's part of the reason i like it so much. I like the option of going to Universal, going to Publix (best grocery store ever!), going to different restaurants that we don't have in Canada, those things and obviously DISNEY! are what make a Florida trip for me.

Looking at staying onsite this fall for FD at a value. Im stoked, i could stay offsite for cheaper but have always wanted to stay onsite with FD.

If you do your research & book well in advance, off-site is going to be cheaper, and you stay 10 minutes away if you want to.

Disney has the convienence factor, theres plenty to that for sure. It's a vacation, so i can definitely see the advantage of that.

Personally I don't understand the "i can't do off-site, with Disney it's on-site or id rather not go" argument.

It's Disney World, the most magical place on earth. Why would you not want to go, no matter where you stayed? If it's a choice between staying off-site or staying home, i know what i'd choose!!

Everybodys got their own opinion and preferences, and thats awesome, we are all there to have fun!

So while we are all waiting. I have seen a few games in past posts.

Setting alarm for 11:45PM Sunday night...CHECK!

Reading the DIS Free Dining thread and posting with the other FD nuts in the wee hours of Monday morning waiting for the FD offer to become official...PRICELESS!

We will have two 2 year olds and one 3 month old

I know this post was from a few hours ago, but I don't think anyone pointed this out to you. With 17 people, 3 of whom are under three, you would still need THREE family suites as you would have 14 people counted in the rooms. Each family suite will accommodate 6 adults plus 1 child under 3. So 14 would not fit in 2 family suites. Also, if you have 6 people over 3 in the suite, you can only have 1 under 3. Max capacity is 6 + only ONE child under 3. Just wanted you to be aware of the room occupancy limits.

I'm thinking of possibly doing a late lunch early dinner in mk before mvmcp - what's better liberty tree or crystal plaza
ETA - crystal palace

FinnsMom, Disney should hire you to rename all their restaurants. I really like Crystal Plaza.:sunny:

How about Cosmic Harbour House?

still doesn't guarantee anything to change now. Could change, miss out on free dining and then not have a room at POFQ either. It's all a gamble and anyone can do what they want but just because you have a room doesn't mean you're getting free dining

All I'm saying is, if the OP wants FD, she ain't gonna get it at POFQ.
