It's gonna be an oven, but WE'RE GOING TO WDW in AUGUST!!! Final thoughts

Getting up early is hard, I'm sure even more so with a kid in tow

Yes I think it will be a challenge to get up early, but I will make it happen at least some of the time for sure!!!

The ride in the front/middle is different and less intense than the ride in the back in our opinions.

This is a good tip. I will tell DD that and hopefully convince her to do it this time.

It's the first time eating here for me as my picky 17 year old (he could live on burgers)

OMG sounds exactly like my 14 year old son. He could live on burgers and chicken wings (and die of heart attack I'm sure)

am really looking forward to the fried cheese app,

This sounds divine!

I have wanted to try the mac'n'cheese here...it looks great!

Yes, that's exactly why I want to go there!

Do you like the Great Movie Ride?

I do, and that might be an option at DHS for sure! Totally depends on lines and how tired we are!

Sounds like a great day with a good combo of parks and relaxing! And yes, what a treat to be able to stroll back to the Contemporary! :thumbsup2

Yay! I'm so excited for my ADR at Prime Time, I was excited that you're going here, too. :goodvibes Our FP booking window is fast approaching!!! :hyper::hyper:

Just found your report this morning. I'm hoping for an August trip (11-15) with my best friend. I've booked us at AKL tentatively. She is away teaching in the far north (we are Canadian too), and I won't know if she can come until she gets back June 24.

Haven't even floated the idea with dh yet. Booked on a whim yesterday and haven't caught up with him yet. I'd be leaving him with the three kids. Never done that before and my oldest is 13!

Your trip sounds great. I'd recommend Garden Grocer. I had trouble using instacart with a Canadian credit card and had to go back to Garden Grocer. They are a bit pricey, but very reliable.

I'll let you know if I end up down there too. Fast pass day is less than a week out!

I know!! EEEK!! I have to make sure I have my wish list finalized!! I know there will be loads of tinkering afterwards lol but...certain must do's I hope to get!!

Just found your report this morning.

Welcome!! Thanks for coming by!! Love having another Disfriend and fellow Canadian here!

I'd be leaving him with the three kids.

Go girl!! How awesome!!!

Yay!! Perhaps a DisMeet if we have time! Yes, FP day is this Saturday I believe for me...though I have to double check that it isn't Friday lol..

Sounds good re the meet! I'm tempted to buy my air and go even if my friend can't come. Going to talk to dh at lunch today! We are going in October too, but the deal I found was great. Are you using Canadian resident tkts? This package I found still has them even though the offer ended on May 20.

Booked a girls trip with my MiL to go see my DD in October. DH didn't say anything (yet) - mostly over weekend but he'd be alone with the 2 younger kids and soccer/band schedule...And I am sure at some point he will campaign for a boys weekend (taking DS) while we have our AP's so...it will work out:)
Forgot I had booked split stay-doing cheaper while just DS and me 8/6-8/9 at CSR (we move to SSR 8/-8/14). Nearly had a heart attack when Touring plans alerted me that TOMORROW was FP day-except we aren't planning on doing parks those days (if we do it would be because I have told DS we could play SotMK -we found his packs of cards -including an unopened pack- and key card). FP day for "real" is Saturday:)

Following along! DW and I are going to be at CBR Aug 12-19 for an early anniversary trip we moved from October(when our anniversary is). From the sound of your TR, sounds like you and the DD will have a great time!

I got a deal on the hotel for Canadians but I think the Canadian park tickets were just one park per day and I really wanted to have hoppers for this trip so didn't get much of a deal on that, but oh well.

I have told DS we could play SotMK

That's cool - I've never tried that...something to think about...though we are usually busy enough just taking it all in...

Hey welcome!! Hey you'll be there for some of the same time too!! I've never even visited CBR...one day I will have time to just tour all the resorts lol

Oh crap I just saw this part of your post. I know Garden Grocer is great - they just didn't have some of the stuff I wanted wheras Instacard had everything...that sucks if they had an issue with a Canadian CC...ugh. I may have to talk my mom into letting me use her US credit card - she has one because my parents spend a lot of time in South Florida...

Thanks for the welcome! We are looking forward to it, even with the construction and refurbishment.

Is it August yet??? lol

I am not supposed to go back until 2018 but I am getting itchy feet....

I don't blame you!! After this trip I think the disney depression will be bad because I may not go again until Star Wars land is done...sigh...but you never know...

Time for plans for...

Saturday August 10th!!!

Since we have decided to just get 8 day park tickets, I picked this day as our "no parks" day. This was hard to do since when you are already at 8 days, it's so incremental to add another parks day that it almost seems silly not to do it...

BUT...this is where my rational brain must take charge...it will be 1000 degrees...we will likely be a bit tired and need some time to recharge. So. Hoping that everyone (me) will be satisfied with taking a day off from parks.

Don't worry though...I'm sure it won't be boring! Well it may sound boring to some lol but I hope it just sounds relaxing.

My plan is this...sleep in...if possible...but if I can't sleep...then wake up early enough to MAYBE be a nut job and try running outside lol if it's early enough to not be too hot. THEN...hang out a bit at the resort.

We have an ADR at the Wave for 10:30am for a nice relaxed breakfast.

After that..POOL TIME!!

I'm thinking around 3pm if we are getting antsy, we will get changed and head over to Disney Springs for some shopping and dinner.

I had originally made an ADR for Raglan Road, which I love...but I ended up cancelling it. My reasoning for this is that we only have one afternoon/evening at DS. I want to have some time to look around and also...

The Polite Pig...sounds awesome to me!! It's QS and the food sounds great. Actually to me I want to eat ALL THE SIDES. So that is what I hope to do. Hopefully DD agrees with me lol

Then there are a few shops I'd like to check out...WOD of course, and there's a running store...and Basin, which has this heavenly almond scented moisturizer that I could drink lol...

Also last time I went to WDW with DD we did the Design a T thing and both got shirts. I don't know if she will be into it this time, but if she is I'd love to do that again. But that also depends on crowds and how tired and hot we are by this point...

So hopefully this day is a nice relaxing break from park touring so we'll be rarin' to go the next day!!

No better way to start the day! The sweet potato pancakes there look out of this world! And I think they have a key lime hollandaise. Can you tell I want to plan a breakfast there......lol

Love WOD for my Disney Dooney and Pandora collections. And Basin is to die for...I love their soap and bath bombs so much!
After that..POOL TIME!!
Pool time is the best time, especially with a poolside beverage or two! :)

I think a day of non parks is always good. Especially if you don't have an AP. You need a day of downtime, we usually take at least one and your plans sound good!

This is probably a very very good idea. We should have planned like this. And we may still end up taking a day off from park touring depending on how we feel. (Having APs is taking the pressure off from feeling like we need to be in the park all the time.) But it's so hard not to add that extra day when it feels like pennies in the grand scheme of things!

I'm thinking around 3pm if we are getting antsy, we will get changed and head over to Disney Springs for some shopping and dinner.

This would be a good compromise for skipping the parks for a day. Good thinking.

The Polite Pig sounds awesome! I hope you end up going! If DD has different plans, I've also heard good things about Blaze, and Nathan and I had really good burgers at D-Luxe Burger, so it's nice that there are some great new QS options at DS these days. :)

am debating between Garden Grocer and Instacart for ordering some water and granola bars and other supplies. Garden Grocer is cheaper but Instacart has a lot of stuff all in one place that I couldn't find at GG...something to think about...

I pulled this out to quote before I thought about your being from Canada, but I was going to suggest Amazon Prime for your groceries...we used it in December, but I am Canadian Clueless as far as shipping and things, so it might be pointless to even mention it!

I've never felt a need to have a delivery before, but was so grateful for it at the Boardwalk in December, when getting anywhere took forever from our room location. I was happy I didn't have to worry about that with my room location at AKL last month!

love to try Friar's Nook if it's open

I don't know if it was because I was starving or what, but the mac and cheese from there was SO GOOD. I had planned to get the pot roast mac and cheese, but it was off the menu and bbq chicken was on, so I ended up getting the plain. Something about that crunchy, buttery, panko topping. YUM!

So hopefully this day is a nice relaxing break from park touring so we'll be rarin' to go the next day!!

My kids (well, my 13 year old) always wants me to plan a down day and I just cannot. I had to promise we'd include water parks on the next family trip, and both kids are now obsessed with Stormalong Bay after seeing it from the outside, so I will probably just have to deal with it and get over my need to be in a park! I love resort breaks during the day, so I'm not sure why I'm hesitant. The closest we got was December on a party night when we were supposed to just hang out before heading to MK around 3...and that's the day X ended up at urgent care. Go figure!

It looks like your plans are coming along nicely!!!

This is what we did. We already have Prime on Amazon.ca, but it doesn't transfer over so we just did the trial version on Amazon.com before our trip. I don't know if Prime Pantry is available to Canadians—I would assume it is for a registration price—but we didn't need much more than granola bars and water, so we could get it all on regular prime.

Thanks!! Yeah I just hope that I don't feel like we are missing out. But I think it will be too hot to care lol.

Yeah Blaze looks really good too and there are so many options. I just hope that DD wants to try the Polite Pig because...YUM

Something about that crunchy, buttery, panko topping. YUM!

Right?? This is the whole reason I want to go there. I hope it works out, and I'm actually feeling like eating that in the heat lol

I love resort breaks during the day, so I'm not sure why I'm hesitant.

It is so hard to be THAT close to the parks and not go in at all, even for a couple of hours. I totally get it. But I will have to hang tough on this one I think.

but we didn't need much more than granola bars and water, so we could get it all on regular prime.

I will have to investigate this more with being Canadian. I don't need any produce or anything like that, so I'm hoping it won't be a problem.
