Minnie Vans "Uber" like transport begins soon!

Don't think anyone will be surprised with service, not exactly news but maybe at D23 they will announce they are ready to start operating it.

But according to Disney and Honda the "Minnie Van" is one of a kind for D23 to promote and market the model. It's very cute, would love to see it utilized but they clearly state it's one of a kind.

Honda just did this for the expo because they sponsor Autopia in DL in Florida Chevy is doing these cars because the sponsor test track in WDW. With the sponsors being different I doubt they will look even remotely similar as they will probably just go on the cheap end and put a Disney logo and the side and maybe a few dots

Okay ................. I think you completely missed the point of my post.

If it's really $15-$20 per ride, why would anyone take it when Uber is half that? :confused3

Unless it would pick you up and drop you off at a location inside that would allow you to skip bag check (such as the Express service).

Possible reasons why I would use it:

1) if they have car seats in Minnie vans

2) depending on where they drop off, might be better than ttc for MK

3) I don't use uber at home, so easier to use disneys offering

Pretty sure I couldn't get DH to use a "Minnie Van" to take us to the Dolphin for steak at Shula's. He'd be fourteen shades of red getting out of that thing no matter how cute I thought it was.

Those ears are a gas guzzling, or battery killing, nightmare. In the interests of efficiency, or common sense, and general priciples of handling a vehicle with the aerodynamic profile of an open cardboard box, I doubt they will be on the actual production vehicle.

If these vans are all/mostly equipped with car seats they've hit a market with me! Love Uber when my husband and I are traveling alone... with kids not so easy.

Just me - I'm loving the idea :). What it says to me is..... "PRICE WAR!".

The players would now be Mears Taxi, WDW, and Uber. And each has advantages, in certain situations....
Example: A MEARS taxi from the WL to GF, or Contemporary, is about $10 with solid 20% tip, either direction. The Minnie Van loses.
Do the same thing to/from WL to the Dolphin? Taxi about $25. Minnie Van Wins :).

Not mentioning UBER as we have no experience with it..... and really prefer drivers that have had classic screening.

I'm another one that would definitely use Disney's service if there were multiple car seat options available. If you need more than 1 carseat, Uber isn't an option, so we'll be relying on Disney buses for everything. It's fine for theme parks, but getting to another resort from your resort definitely takes longer with taking a park bus and then walking/boating/transferring to a 2nd bus to get to your desired destination (depending on where you are ultimately going, of course). I'll be very interested in how this works.

Just got back an hour ago after 8 days in the World. There were a ton of brand new SUV-type vehicles parked in the spot where the old car racing stadium was across from the AA/Speedway. Wonder if they have anything to do with this. No one seemed to know when I asked.

Sorry, I haven't read through the full 9 pages - are these only going to be available for on-property only routes or will they go off-property as well?

I read the WDWNT article and it says "Guests can expect a flat rate to anywhere on property". So on property only? If so, what's the point? Disney already has such an extensive selection of on-property transport options. Its going on and off property that are the problem - getting to Universal/seaworld if staying on property, or for those staying off-property wanting to get on property.
