Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We're thinking about booking for August 2018 for 12 nights and are on the fence whether to do a Deluxe Club room or a Water/Lagoon View Club Room. The biggest thing for us is that we want to make sure we have 2 queen size beds. Do most of the Water/Lagoon View Club Rooms have 2 Queen beds?
I would guess that a huge majority of rooms have two queen beds. It is only the odd sized room that would have anything different.

Hello. What are my chances of getting a room with a full size day bed at the BC? We have a Garden view booked for 14 nights. I will have a 19 year old son and 16 year old daughter with me and they will not want to share! I will happily make this our only request. Thank you.

When is your trip?

I think the chances that you get a room with a daybed is pretty good, especially if you word your request "Room with daybed, please- teenagers of opposite gender in room"

When you check-in, if for some reason you are not assigned a room with a daybed, immediate go to the front desk and explain why it is important for your family. They will do their best to resolve the problem with an acceptable solution.

What do you mean by a "full size day bed?"

A day bed is not the same thing as a sleeper sofa. A sleeper sofa could be full size or queen size. As far as I know, there's just one size of day bed. I don't know how big they are.

Dee- our dates are finally confirmed for Nov 26-Dec. 3 at Yacht club. We can't wait! Just booked our room only night this week when they released the room only discount. Hopefully, we will get to stay in the same room.

Got it!!!

I'll add you to the list.

:woohoo:

April 2018 at Beach Club! We're so excited! Love the Boardwalk area, especially the restaurants, entertainment and proximity to Epcot!

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Hoping to book at the BC for May next year, If we want to be on the ground floor next to lobby and transportation how lucky will we be in requesting this? :listen:

I believe the ground floor rooms at the Beach Club all lie between the Marketplace (in the lobby) and the exit that is close to EPCOT. We have determined that none of these rooms are in the standard view category.

There are some rooms that are fairly close to the lobby/transportation, but probably more that are further. You may want to check out the detailed Beach Club room map on Page 1, Post 8 (Beach Club rooms)

I just booked YC through Hotwire for next weekend for 200 a night that includes taxes and fees. They have a coupon right now over $200 get $30 off. I am glad since we are Silver Pass holders and they lifted the blackout. I guess it worked that they are selling rooms and getting more there. SaveBigHotel Is the code.

:welcome: and congrats on the great deal!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool2:

Thanks. From my research, the YC has ten designated handicapped rooms and only two that match this particular bedding description. One is the room I had last year and the other is CL. So, while I will not count on it as a sure thing, it seems likely it will be the same room.

Can you add me to the list for the YC from May 6, 2018 to May 15, 2018? Thanks.

Done!

:thumbsup2

That's an incredible deal for YC. I hopped on over to Hotwire and nothing even close to that price remaining. Lucky You! It's my fav resort.

:welcome: to posting on the thread.

Hope you are able to find a bargain for a YC trip soon!

I am guessing that most of the Beach Club and Yacht Club club level rooms have 2 Queen Beds. There are some king beds up there, but I'm not sure how many, especially after the renovations at both resorts.

The differences I can think of between the two room categories:

Price

Deluxe Rooms are larger, but are not on the same floor as the club lounge (5th floor)

Bedding- do all Deluxes have 2 Queens and a Daybed. Or something else? Suppose I could see what the Disney booking site says, but honestly, I have seen incorrect info there so I don't trust it!

Well, I had to call to check on something for our upcoming trip in September, so I thought I would check on a water View room for our April trip. I was told I only had a 40% cast discount in April , but if I wanted a club level room I could get it for 50% off and it would only be $200 more than what I was paying for my garden view room. Well, after about 2 seconds of thinking, I said Yes!! It will be nice surprise for Jim. He does enjoy the lounge in the mornings and evenings.

Thanks. When I was looking at the description on the website and they indicate about 5 different configurations for the Pool/Lagoon view rooms. There was only 1 configuration that wouldn't work well for us. (In past BC club stays we've lucked out and had 2 queens plus day bed but since the reno we've only stayed standard club and garden club --- so I wasn't sure if they'd changed the configurations for the Pool/Lagoon view rooms...)

We'll probably book the Pool/Lagoon Club room and make our requests based on the bed configuration and cross our fingers.

You are excused for being late- since there is no clock, how do you know what time it is?

:confused3

:furious:

I don't use ^^^ this smilie much, but I really detest the removal of the room clocks!

During our last stay in October, YC CL, I asked one of the CMs at the desk if we could get a clock in the room and they said no. They also said a lot of people were commenting/complaining about the removal of the clocks.

Um, helllooooooo!?! This seems like an easy and relatively inexpensive correction.

PUT THE D!@# clocks back in the room.

:headache:

I am definitely with you. I need to know the time and constantly picking up my phone to check will drive me nuts. I'm going to the dollar store and buying cheap one to bring. :thumbsup2

I have a suggestion to be added to the front page. I am currently planning my and my families trip for 2018. I haven't been to WDW for 17 years and stay at all star movies back in the day. The one piece of information I am missing for planning ADRs and such is the average travel time people have experienced. So, how long has it taken people with first hand experience to travel from BC to an Ohana reservation? How about if you were headed for dinner at Jiko? Maybe you had California Grill as part of your trip but did it on a rest day (no park) and couldnt take monorail from Epcot, how long was your travel? In fact, how long in average does it take for people to get to places like Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach from BC?

Thanks for your help!

I'll update the list (but keep your secret)

Prior to the renovation, I believe there were 2 rooms out of the 26 BC CL WV rooms with a king bed instead of 2 Queens. Not sure if any changes were made to the bedding configurations since then. I think the Yacht Club may have added more king beds throughout the resort.

17 days!! I haven't been in four long years...

We have another family meeting us at Disney (that makes six families total coming - five staying at BC CL. You think I'd get some kind of commission! LOL) They are staying at Sheraton Vistana (I think that's what it's called) and we are meeting them for an adult dinner when they arrive. Last minute so a lot of the places in Disney Springs are booked... I decided on Boatwrights at POR. I've never been there! Probably the best way to get there would be Uber or a Minnie Van, right (if I can get my husband in it! LOL)?

What is your experience (if any) taking the MDE from airport to Beach Club? Trying to get a sense of the other stops along the line. We are coming mid august and arriving 10:30am. Wondering how much snack to pack. Our last time from airport to GF was crazy long, as in 5 stops.
When we went in September, our bus went to CBR, BW, YC and BC and in that order. We arrived at 8:30am and we literally walked up to an empty DME area, walked right on a bus and the bus left.. even with BC being the last stop, we got to the resort by 9:45am.

I don't get over to the Transportation Board on the DIS. I know they used have a time estimator to get from Point A to Point B at Disney, not sure if they still do or if there are any threads that address your transportation questions.

What is the official Disney advisory now about travel time when you make a dining reservation- are they asking guests to plan an hour and a half or two hours for travel time using Disney transportation?

I'm game to add more useful info to the small transportation section I have on Page 1, Post 1 if people want to help and provide their guestimates or experience.

I would call it "YMMV"- Your Mileage May Vary

A lot of factors go into how much time it takes to get from Point A (Beach Club or Yacht Club) to Point B (Disney Springs, Water Park, Another Resort)- time of day, wait time for the bus or other mode of transportation. There are also alternate routes that guests can take. For example if you are traveling to one of the MK resorts, you can take the bus to MK then either take the monorail OR resort boat OR even walk to CR.

On my last trip, we had a dinner at the Poly at 6:30 pm. We started our journey by leaving the YC at 5 pm and took the bus to MK. We were going to take the boat to the Poly and waited about 10 minutes but didn't see a boat in sight, so we bailed to get on the monorail. Unfortunately, everyone was leaving the park at that time and the line for the monorail started on the ramp. I think it took 3 trains before we were loaded onto a packed transport. We kept watching the boat, and we finally saw one arrive just as we were boarding, so that would have been quicker than the resort monorail. Our trip ended up taking about 100 minutes.

If I am going to post average trip times, I would add 10 minutes for each leg you need to wait for transportation.

So if you were going to Jiko or to Boma at AKL, the estimated time would be 10 minute wait for the bus, transportation time to Animal Kingdom Park (25 min?), 10 minute wait for bus to AKL and then transportation time (5 min?), for a total of 50 minutes.

Poly: 10 minute wait for bus, 15-20 minutes to MK, walk to boat ramp/wait for transportation (15 min), ride to Poly (15) for a total of 1 hour.

I haven't been to a waterpark since 2010 or to Downtown Disney since 2013 and I know a lot has changed in the transportation to those places, so I have no idea what the current process or time involved to get there is.

Anyone wanna play the "How long to get there game?"

BC/YC to EPCOT: 10-15 minutes, walking
BC/YC to Hollywood Studios: 25 minutes, walking
BC/YC to Hollywood Studios: 40 minutes, boat, including 10 min wait time
BC/YC to Magic Kingdom: 30 minutes, bus, including 10 min wait time
BC/YC to Animal Kingdom: 30-35 minutes, including 10 min wait time

BC/YC to Poly
BC/YC to Grand Floridian
BC/YC to Contemporary

BC/YC to AKL

BC/YC to Disney Springs
BC/YC to Typhoon Lagoon
BC/YC to Blizzard Beach

NOOOO!!! Did they take away the wedge salad at Crew's Cup?? I literally dream about that thing and have been ordering it for years! On our last trip tot he BC in October I ate it three times, not kidding.
Do you think they will still make it if they can if I ask nicely???
I'm completely bummed out.
I have been reading along regularly but haven't posted much - but I feel the need to say:
New Crew's Cup Menu :sad2:
Lack of theming in new rooms :sad2:
What the gondolas will do to my beautiful, peaceful IG

I'm one of those people who doesn't like change, as you can tell, lol.
However, heading to the BC for a big family trip in 17 days :love::love:!!!!! Literally cannot wait to get "home". We are taking along our two kids with their SO's (all mid-20's). I find that I love our "adult" trips now just as much as when they were little. Sure need to save a lot more for the bar tab though.....

We were there in June and they still have it on the lunch menu. I love it too!

If you take a taxi to any of those restaurants then you can count on a 20 minute ride. If you want to use Disney buses then you need a minimum of 40 minutes and a maximum of about an hour and 20 minutes.

BC to Ohana or California Grill- boat or walk to DHS, bus to resort
or bus to MK, boat or monorail to resort,
or walk through Epcot and take monorail

BC to Jiko - AK bus to park then AKL bus, or catch the AKL bus at DHS

Disney Springs bus is direct from the BC to DS - once the bus gets to the BC it is about 15 minutes to DS

On Saturday DW watched a family talk to a lifeguard at the small pool at the bottom of the stairs to the flying Jib slide about height restrictions to the slide. Then she saw them all come down the slide with their street clothes on, no magic bands or pool bands. Dw assumes they only did this once but why did the guard at the top let them down?

:yay:Woooo 60 day mark today! Just booked all our FP+ and got everything we wanted and all either at the exact times I wanted or within 40mins! And actually happy about the two 40 mins gaps as it means chance to slow down and enjoy the parks/be spontaneous. Got ourselves two separate FP+ for Flight of Passage (two different days) so I hope I don't get motion sickness on it :crazy2:. I've avoided all spoilers (hard!) but think it's more Soarin' motion than Harry Potter and Forbidden Journey (aka hell for me). But yay! Will also be our first time on FEA after as that opened just after our last trip aaaand ditto for Soarin' around the world, we adored Soarin' original so we can't wait. Lots of new things for us to do. AND! We've just put in our requests to rent DVC points for a trip in April next year :cool1: which means our 180 day mark falls on the day we get back from this trip (fingers crossed we get in)! No PDD for me this time around... but the PDD after that next trip may be severe... no return trip until MK's 50th anniversary in 2021 after that:sad1:
