I love the back lit mirror, and I want one...

The shower was amazing. An overhead rain style showerhead AND a wand, both could be going at the same time or just one or the other. And the water pressure was great!

Robe and slippers. Nice touch, but I thought the robes were a bit stiff/not soft

And lastly, the view

The balcony "screen" between you and your neighbors - one on each side. We never saw anyone sitting out there.

And the curtains. My camera took a LOUSY picture - these are a very dark blue - almost black - and blocked the light quite well.

Pro-packscrinating- Putting off packing for the Fantasy cruise with Teena. Flying out Friday, scheduled to arrive in Orlando Friday afternoon. We have a shuttle/room booked for Port Canaveral at 7 pm. Ship will (hopefully?) be sailing out Saturday, but lots of questions about where and when with Irma brewing in the wings.

:faint:

I'm ready for some Disney Magic & YC! We stayed at Pop last night due to an amazing flight deal that saved us hundreds. Let's just say, I'm not a fan! Beds are hard as rocks & the pillows are laughable. We also didn't have our luggage after 5 hours. I called at 10:30 to ask that they hold the luggage since we were going to bed. So, of course, they called at midnight to say they wanted to deliver our bags but we had the "Privacy Sign" up and didn't want to knock! Seriously?? I grumpily, in my half awake tone, said I'd come get it in the morning. So they called at 7 and woke us all again! oh well! Being anywhere at Disney is better that not being at Disney! I imagine the next 6 days at YC and dinner with the Beast tonight will make me forget all about it!

Yikes!

Hope you are now resting well at the YC.

Have a fantastic trip.

:woohoo:

Woohoo! Have a great time!!! Pictures and reviews when you can! :-)

:welcome: to the thread and posting on the DIS!

:goodvibes

When doing online check in is there away to request a balcony?

Would love to be able to sit out there while DD sleeps!

Sometimes!

The online check-in system can be "quirky".

Whether or not you do the online checkin, make sure that you add your request for a full balcony by phone to Disney's Central Reservations Office (or have your travel agent do it if you booked that way)

::yes::

Dee our dates have changed as we've added an extra day. We're now staying 11/17-11/26 at the BC.
Could you update us on the list. Thank you

Got it!

:thumbsup2

Hoping everything works out for the best, for you and Teena.

Anyone else leaving this week? Leave on Thursday and hoping for the best, but I am getting really scared now :(

We returned yesterday from our short but sweet anniversary trip at YC. While there were things I really loved about YC, I'm still a BC gal! The new rooms are lovely, but the lobby and common areas are not as appealing to me as BC. I also like that BC is a little closer to EP. I know it's not a lot but when we left EP at 2PM and I was melting and ready for a swim it seemed like an extra mile at least :rotfl:We had excellent service from the CMs. We requested and received turn down service both nights. They have removed the extra toiletries and the bottle of Dasani, so it's just shampoo, conditioner, body wash and the two bars of soap. I hate that there are no ceiling fans, the room seemed to get a little stuffy to me at night so it would've been nice to have the air moving around. The only big issue we had was the noise. After they moved us it wasn't as bad, but still louder than you would expect. I don't know that I'll return until/if they do something about the noise level. The manager did tell me they were getting some feedback on the noise level so they may be looking into solutions such as extra insulation, area rugs, etc. That all seems like something they should've thought out beforehand...

The room we had the first night was 4166, standard view, 2Q, daybed, connecting room, tub/shower combo. I'm convinced this has to be the loudest room at the YC (not sure how many more are directly below the lounge but they would be horrible too). For a standard room, the view really wasn't bad because there was a nice big tree blocking the parking lot.

We were moved to 2075, lagoon view, 2Q, daybed, connecting room, tub/shower combo. Perfect view of Illuminations. The room was identical to 4166 except the artwork was different.

Pictures to follow.

Nervous maybe, but don't be scared--Disney will take great care of you should Irma come calling on Sunday.

We are veterans of several hurricanes (most recently Matthew) and just as many tropical storms. You will be provided with plenty of instruction and notice should Orlando be under the gun. Just be prepared with food items in your room should Disney announce a park closing. The sundries stores will be sold out quickly and it will take a couple days to get restocked. We grabbed sandwiches and other goodies from Les Halles just before the parks closed, plus we had coffee and water, adult beverages and snacks since we were at BWV. All was well and you will be fine.

Fingers crossed that Irma fizzles before it heads into central FL.

So now that they don't have the big Dasini water bottle and they don't sell the case at the marketplace what are your suggestions for water at the hotel. I'm very disappointed they won't have the large bottle in the room. We loved that in May and was counting on it for our next trip. I feel deluxe resorts should have some extras.

I, too, was disappointed that the one liter bottle of Dasani was no longer provided in the guest rooms. You can always get free drinking water from the BC Marketplace refill station. You either need to bring a clean bottle or ask for a paper cup at the register.

The Screen Door shop on the Boardwalk sells cases of smaller-sized bottles of Dasani.

On a related note, the BC Marketplace has made recent changes, dropping some items and adding others. So, if anyone is planning on purchasing certain items that have been previously purchased there, don't automatically count on it. The Boardwalk shop has the most complete selection, if neither the YC nor BC has what is needed.

A few random thoughts from our trip. I can understand why people say it's more noisy, while the new floors are sleek and nice looking, they are more noisy. Also, I felt like the doors weren't as thick as needed - it was really easy to see light around the edges too.

Busses. YC shared only with BC while we were there. Pick up AND drop off were YC first. In the mornings, BC guests ended up standing on the bus. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes coming or going.

If your balcony room doesn't have an awning, pull your chairs back and to the corners when you leave. Afternoon rains will get your chairs wet if you don't.

There is a cabinet that holds the tiny fridge. In the cabinet above the fridge is a drawer, which is a good hiding place - maybe if you have things you don't want your kids to get into or such. We stashed hubby's laptop there. The cabinet door would open only slightly more than needed to open the fridge door, which was a bit difficult.

Tons of drawers, not a lot of hanging space but they do have nice, real hangers.

The bed is a bit high, but it was ok. Mattress was firm but not hard. The same can not be said for the couch. That was very hard. I know it's a fold out bed (which I never did do, sorry) so I'm sure it's hard because of that, but still.

There is a leather(ish) chair with a footstool (didn't make it in my pictures, I'll check hubby's later) in the corner across from the couch. It, too, wasn't that comfortable.

The desk is actually two desks. It has a second table underneath on wheels so you can roll it out, good for room service or a table for kids to play on.

The nice feature was the barn door that cuts off the bathroom area totally, if you want it to.

I did notice, however, that lots of things go bang if you're not careful. Take something off a hanger? If the empty hanger swings even a little bit, it bangs against the back of the closet. The pocket door to the shower/toilet had a soft close, but would bang open if opened all the way. Same with the barn door.

I love the look of the newly refurbished room, but those beds just look weird without the runners or comforter...I know....easier to clean, etc....but they just look un-made to me.

I agree. I sort of expected maybe a decorative pillow on the bed, we had those at BC in June. They did have decorative pillows on the sofa sleeper.

There is a coverlet on the bed, it's white on white striped. And they provide you with a comforter, it's kept in the dresser cabinet.
