Hurricane Irma?

Today was supposed to be our day to enjoy Epcot and the Food and Wine Festival (my first). I'm really bummed and still in a little bit of shock that we cancelled, but I know it was the right choice. To those of you sticking it out, be careful and best of luck! I hope Irma chokes and dies before reaching Florida and bringing misery to anybody else.

I was due to be in Orlando from today aswell.

What can ya do?

I have been following this thread and I just wanted to say how sorry I am for those that are in the areas predicted to be affected. I am also sorry to everyone that had to cancel their trips. Planning for Disney trips takes us out of the real world for awhile.

I've been on these boards for a long time and seeing some of the posts is the reason why. People offering advice and safety tips, up to date news, and even offering their homes to "friends" on the boards who are alone.

I feel as though I know many of you that are CMs or live around WDW and wish you and all of FL the best in very difficult times! Please stay safe and check in with us if you are able.

Hard morning. Finally cancelled today's trip late last night to find the storm has be downgraded this morning. (SO thankful for that!). Im a glutton for punishment as I keep second guessing what I did even though I did what was the right thing for me to do in the moment. So, so sad this morning. We were supposed to be getting ready to leave for the airport right now. ☹️☹️ Lol - even looked at rebooking our trip this morning but nothing available.

All will be better in a few days but it's just hard right now.

Praying for all in FL.

After all those hours on the phone yesterday. (ended up being 10 on hold once I changed MSSHP tickets) I have emails saying all my FP will be cancelled because I don't have tickets as my reservation isn't showing up. It it the same confirmation number as it was earlier as we jut modified a reservation?

So far my hotel is unwilling to work with us to move our dates or cancel our trip. We are due to arrive Sunday, but I wonder if they will just let us show up a day or two late to let it pass. We were supposed to drive down there from Atlanta.

Definitely don't beat up on yourself - the best you can do (for anything) is to make the right decision for you with the information you have. I'm sure everyone who cancelled is going through the same thing - but be assured those of us who didn't are also second guessing.

Time to look ahead to your next trip and pretend this one was never booked! Whenever you're back, it'll be awesomely magical.

My group flies down the 17th. I'm not sure if we should keep the trip or cancel. I wonder if there will be any supplies in stores or major damage to the parks or airport. Not to ention the poor evacuees from down south still stuck up north. I wonder if we'd even get to the parks.

You'll have plenty of time to see what the damage is and make your decision.

Many of the previous posts relate to those that were planning to be at WDW during the actual hurricane.... Is anyone familiar with what to expect afterwards? We are scheduled to fly in on Tuesday, (9/12).

I understand that until the storm hits, there's no way to know how much damage is done. Assuming the current models hold true and Irma travels straight up the peninsula, hitting Orlando with hurricane force winds and rain.... how will the Parks and resorts operate? Im assuming that cast members have homes and families that they will need to care for as well - so fewer CM will be in attendance. What effect will that have and are there other concerns that I should be considering?

It's possible the airport could still be closed on 9/12. Hope for the best, plan for the worst, etc. etc. No one knows anything right now.

I know exactly how you feel as we also were scheduled to arrive today. We would actually be in the air and almost ready to land. I am very sad also but feel I did the right thing. Hope all those in Florida right now stay safe.

we were due in Disney tomorrow. Was able to reschedule for Oct. Better safe than sorry

We fly down the 17th and will have two weeks of vacation at both Disney and Universal. Hoping we can still go but obviously it's more important that people come out of this thing ok. Florida is in my thoughts!

It's sad to have to cancel, even while we pray for the best for everyone in harm's way. It sounds like you waited as long as you could. No reason to beat yourself up over your decision if the weather takes a turn for the better. That would be a win. Hopefully you can find future dates that work better and have much better weather.

Expect things to come back online slowly. The parks will not all open at the same time. They may open one or two first, then the rest as staffing allows. The same with hotels. Restaurants and housekeeping will resume gradually over the day or two after the storm.

My heart goes out to all of you who had to cancel their trips. And of course, I am concerned for all of you who live in Florida.

I keep hoping and praying this storm shifts away from land and into the Atlantic.

You should call the hotel directly. Good luck!

I'm scheduled to leave on the 15th. At this point, there is nothing we can do except to wait and see.

The good thing about being a Disboards member is that you'll be able to get the real story on the aftermath from people who are there.

Sometimes, the media hypes things and you may not be truly informed about what you'll encounter when you get there. When you read here, you'll be hearing from real people about what is actually going on, and then you can make a good decision on whether to go ahead with your plans or postpone.

Good luck to us all and especially those who live in Florida. Godspeed.

For anybody second guessing your decision that you cancelled, you should not feel that way. Hurricanes are unpredictable and can change at any time. I was just on CNN and the hurricane bounced back and forth between a category two and a three in the Orlando area in about a half hour. I have been through hurricanes and storms and have seen things get better or worse at the same time right before a direct hit. You just don't know and better to be safe than sorry. You have made the best decision for you and your family and look forward to your next trip. Good luck to everybody!
