Hurricane Irma?

You should evacuate if you live at the coast. They are telling people to go inland. If you live in Florida and not on the coast, or flood zone, they are not telling you to leave... Unless you have a mobile home from what I understand..

My family have not been told to leave
no evacuation orders have been given to anyone in Central Florida.

Still trying to catch up... So Universal is closed? They just stated on HLN they are open for now. Sea World and Busch Gardens closing Sat 5pm and Sunday and Monday.

Can't believe the news can't keep up to date as our little thread here. LOL!

"Our little thread" is focused on one specific aspect of Irma. National news covers a bit more. They'll catch up eventually.

Sorry should have said Orange/Osceola.Seminole Co have no mandatory evacuations

Certain areas with mobile homes and low lying areas. Saying all of central florida has been told to evacuate scares and confuses people.

I have alot of family in Central Florida and they are not in any evacuation zones.

There are many more counties in central florida that are not listed in the link you sent.

Emotions are flowing and there is no ill will content. =]

Yeah, but FOP is still 115 minutes, LOL.

I hope the building it is in is safe from the storm... would really like to try it.
We were at AK today, literally everything was no wait except FOP which was 135 minutes starting at 9:15 lol. It was crazy, we just walked right on EE, Safari, Dinosaur, etc. I'm used to that for like the first 45 minutes or so after rope drop, but the wait times stayed that way till we left in the afternoon. On Dinosaur the two of us even a row to ourselves which I've never once experienced. Even with everything going on it was still a fun few hours.

still trying to make a decision to cancel or not. Let's just say that MCO is open Tuesday 9/12/17 (my scheduled arrival date) and Disney is open Wednesday 9/13/17. What is the Disney experience going to be like? I mean, will they be fully operational with all the rides and shows open? We don't know. This is what makes me want to cancel and reschedule. I haven't been in 15 years and this will be my 3 nephews 1st trip. I want them to experience the "full" Disney experience. Arghh. So heartbreaking, but I am really trying to hold out until Monday to make this decision, but it is getting harder and harder to wait till then.

I just received a call from Disney Tours to let me know that one of my tours on Monday was being cancelled. They said no "official' closure from parks yet but they were expecting something later this evening.
I wonder if things got really bad, would Disney email/call to tell us not to come in a week?

I've had to change my plans twice so far, not that I am complaining, when it's all said and done I am safe. We were supposed to arrive at Vero Beach on Sunday and stay till Tuesday before heading over to the Poly. We are coming in from St Louis so we are going to head out on Sunday drive to Memphis, see Graceland and stuff, spend the night there and then Monday head down to Pensacola to a friends house, get up Tuesday and go as far as Gainesville. I'm guessing traffic will be heavy and don't want to go all the way in bumper to bumper. Then we should get to WDW on Wednesday. All of this can change of course if roads are impassable or there is a severe gas shortage we will stay in Pensacola until it is safe to go ahead. When I spoke with Disney today they advised me that there would be no penalties after the storm as well for a bit. So if roads are closed or gas problems they will still be making exceptions.

Everyone in FL, good luck and be safe. Everyone trying to get there in the days after, pack your understanding it will be rough, also think of bringing supplies, I am grabbing some cases of water to bring to drop off wherever it is needed.

Finally cancelled my 09/10-09/17 trip and I'm extremely bummed out but I know it was the right decision. Word of advice, I booked my trip (flight+hotel: POR) through Expedia and after spending 4 hours on hold and receiving zero help when I finally did speak to someone, I tweeted Expedia and they promptly responded and cancelled my reservations through DM. If anyone runs into a similar issue, I highly recommend reaching out via Twitter!

Now to see what happens this weekend and figure out my trip dates to re-book... Hope everyone in the storm's path stay's safe and the damage is minimal.

Anytime my husband doesn't get customer service help he goes to twitter. Works every time.

There's really no way to know. Last year Hurricane Matthew wobbled, only really battering the coast overnight Thursday into Friday. Everything felt very business as usual at both WDW and Universal on Saturday. This one is clearly larger, more powerful, and has a more direct path. I would expect some disruption but hope for very little. I know that isn't super helpful but it's what worked for us.
