OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON & NEW YEAR'S 2017 THREAD

Thanks for the info - does it get busy with locals even during the week? I was hoping that Weds and Thurs at least would be quiet-ish!! We last went there 7 years ago just before my older child turned 3. It wasn't crowded at all and we hardly waited in line for anything - mind you, that was late September, not peak season! I guess we will just have to take it as it comes - a busy day at DL is better than a quiet day at work, right!!!!

I did look at the disability access service - not sure if my kiddo would qualify. He does have disability status but it's one of those neurological/hidden disabilities and if you met him on the street you wouldn't even know there was any issue! He can have AMAZING days but if he gets overwhelmed he just shuts down and the day is over (no behaviour issues or meltdowns, he just can't cope - we have purposely avoided going to DL with him for this reason but hoping as he gets older he can learn to regulate!)

I guess I need to start researching maxpass - never even heard of that one before!

Disneyland is more busy when AP's are allowed in as a large majority of the visitors to disneyland are AP's. Even mid week especially in the afternoon and night. IMO the crowds have increased significantly in the last 7 years so go expecting it to be crowded compared to what you know.

As far as the DAS he would definitely qualify. If you are unsure just call up before going and get the information from the cast members. It will be well worth it to help him through the day.

It should be a great time for you and your family. Just take it slow and don't try and rush through everything. Getting there early (rope drop) will help with crowds as it doesn't start to get busy till midday and later.

I was able to make our Christmas day reservations. I was able to get dinner at BB for the Fantasmic dining package at around the time that I wanted, and since we are planning on staying in that park from open until close with no break (something we never do), I decided to make a lunch reservation at Cafe Orleans (our favorite restaurant) which will take the place of taking a break at our hotel. I agree with the PP that said to take it slow, which we are definitely going to do. We are going to get in as many rides as we can in the morning, and once the crowds start to come in, we are going to just walk around and enjoy the sites of Christmas in DL Park, we also want to try out a lot of the treats that Disney will be offering, so I am hoping to park our butts on a park bench and people watch while enjoying those treats :goodvibes.

I made our Christmas breakfast reservations at Storytellers for Chip 'n Dale's Critter Breakfast on Christmas morning this morning also. Isn't it exciting? I wish I could book tours now.

Any idea when tour info is coming out?

So far I've booked our WOC dessert party for the 23rd, our breakfast at Storyteller's for the 24th, and dinner at the PCH Grill for Christmas night. Our trip is shaping up to be awesome!!

He will qualify. If I remember correctly, they cannot ask for a doctors note or anything. I would definately call before as Paul suggusted. Most of the Cm we met were very helpful the times I took my sp daughter. It was a godsent when we needed it and I was thrilled the times she did not need to use it. They will give you the speal about how it is not a front of the line access and when to use FP. If I remember correctly, there are more quite areas in DCA than DL so if the CM is helpful, ask if they can tell you where some quite areas may be incase you need them.

Have a great trip! A friend and I will be there about the same time (Jan 2-5). It is just the 2 adults but we plan on being flexable. We are making reservations for a couple of restaurants and talking about where to go when DL gets packed.

So excited....I got a Christmas Eve dinner reservation at Steakhouse 55 and I am surprising my Mom with the Frozen dining package on Christmas Day...our reservation is for noon and I am looking forward to dining at Carthay Circle...these are the only 2 things I have booked for our trip as I don't want to overwhelm my Mom who is a senior and almost blind...her wish was to "see" Disneyland decorated for Christmas one last time before she loses all her sight so we will take this trip at a slower place and I will try to make this a memorable trip for my Mom.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to magic morning (not extra hour) being offered everyday the week of Christmas for Disneyland park? Our first park day is a Wednesday and I'm trying to figure out our breakfast plans. If we can do MM on the Wednesday we won't do plaza inn breakfast that morning we will use MM..

So I'm an idiot who forgot to double check our passes, and I booked our weekend trip for Dec 15-17 just because that worked for our schedule. Now I'm trying to change our hotel to Dec 8-10 and you can guess how much success I am having!!

This is what I am thinking. PVI, where we were booked, can give us Saturday night but they are booked up Friday night, the 8th. We drive down from the Bay Area on Friday and usually we arrive around 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning, so honestly, we don't care where we stay. Then, we can drive over to PVI Saturday morning and check in and walk to the park.

I need recs for hotels since everything I am used to staying at (walking distance) is booked. I see the Travelodge Anaheim Convention Center has a room. Has anyone stayed there? Anyone have any other suggestions?

I'm totally beating myself up over here over this....

Is the tea party available during your dates? I know my mom would love that experience.

They have baby care centers in both parks. There is no baby care center in Downtown Disney however. When will you be in the parks?
Thanks!what a relief! I love the babycare centers at WDW. We'll have our baby niece in tow as well! We will be there sometime the week of thanksgiving. Since our family members are local, it's such a relaxed trip. Any idea how Disneyland is with food allergies?

While I do not have food allergies,I have friends who do and have nothing but the highest praise for the chefs at DL. On our trip last year I had a gall bladder attack the night before we flew in from Canada. That meant no travel health insurance. I couldn't have any fat or dairy and every restaurant made sure my food was cooked to order. I was so grateful.
