Room Not Cleaned at Poly

Our first stay at Poly and a sour taste in our mouth...

Our room wasn’t cleaned. We returned around 4pm to change and the room wasn’t cleaned. We were inside maybe 10 minutes, then left for Epcot.

We just came back at 11:30pm and the room was never cleaned. We called the front desk and they said “your privacy sign must have been on.”

So much for customer is always right. I can assure you the sign was never on the door.

We had trouble with housekeeping a few years ago. If we complain, will we be seen as “repeat complainers”? I’m afraid of it being considered “boy who claimed wolf.” We called front desk but the manager and person answering the phone was very rude and basically blamed us for it not being cleaned.

You didn't actually speak to anyone who is physically at Poly. You spoke to a CM at a remote call center. That doesn't excuse the bad customer service, but again this wasn't someone at the Poly. I highly recommend going to the front desk in person and explain what happened. They will make it right.

That's crazy! I would call back and speak with a manager or at least a supervisor ( I think they are called coordinators )

If you have housekeeping issues, you need to call housekeeping. There should be a button on the phone in the room indicating it's the number to housekeeping. If you call them this morning, they should be able to resolve the issue going forward. Housekeeping is not in the realm of the front desk's duties so calling them won't yield results. Go straight to housekeeping!

Having spoken to a room cleaning floor manager during our last trip concerning a similar problem we had on a previous trip, your best course of action is to track yours down by calling housekeeping or, even better, to ask a room attendant to speak to her boss. They have radios and should be available to come and meet you. You should not get the DND sign excuse from him/her.

We had an issue one day at POFQ - DD's room not cleaned on return at 3.30 - called housekeeping and they said would be done straight away but on return from pool still not done so she called for towels and toiletries then next morning we went to front desk and requested rooms be done in the mornings - no problem going forward.

Sometimes it's just easier to call and have them come up and bring some fresh towels and empty the trash. They'll usually bring a nice bag of toiletries too. I always carry Clorox wipes with me to Disney, so I can do a quick tidy.

Takes 5 minutes. So much easier than arguing with them

I've given up relying on Disney housekeeping.

And very likely your housekeeper doesn't speak English. We always call housekeeping because the person manning the phone has passable ability in English. We are very tidy ourselves so we usually let it go rather than have the room done late. We get things straightened out for the remaining days of our stay.

As the PP said, as things currently stand with Disney customer service (guest relations), we've also given up relying on Disney housekeeping as it's not worth the aggravation to argue or get upset.

I'm sorry you dealt with that. I was worried about that prior to our Poly stay but we had great housekeeping throughout our stay!

Our room was barely cleaned when we arrived last year. We went down to the check in and they apologized. They sent housekeeping up right away and then gave us a room credit, which was really nice since there was coffee and lipstick on the coffee cups, hair and dirt on the floor and trash in all the bins. I would definitely go say something downstairs! Hope the rest of your trip is great!

WHAT? Passable English??? and doesn't speak English?? not sure where you stay, but that seems very stereotypical of housekeeping standards. I have never had a problem communicating with housekeeping at Disney.

Wow this it the 3rd negative post I have read about the Poly. We finally get to stay there for Labor Day 2018 and I hope things turn around or I will switch!

This happened to us on our most recent trip to BWI. Go down to the desk and ask to speak with housekeeping manager. The manager was very helpful and we never had a problem again the rest of the week.

Oh, I haven't either, RENT, but then again soy de habla hispana.
I'm just trying to assist others who may be experiencing housekeeping problems.:)

I remember there was a thread a couple months ago about housekeeping at the Polynesian and it mentioned that there were room service trays filling the hallways overnight. Please continue to complain because it seems to be a chronic problem.

Not saying you won’t have issues. But we love Poly! We stay there most of the time & have never had problems.

I wonder if part of the problem is the conversion of so many former Poly rooms to DVC studios. Since DVC villas do not get daily housekeeping the cleaning staff may have been reduced overall for the Poly.
As noted calling on the phone gets you to the call center off site. The housekeeping button on the phone is great for asking for more towels or toiletries. For this issue I'd stop at the front desk tomorrow and speak w/ a supervisor. Disney has monetized the value of housekeeping by offering gift cards to those who forgo it at some resorts and by what they charge DVC stayers for a cleaning, so you could ask for a credit, but if your goal is to have service going forward then I'd tell the manager I didn't want a credit, rather I wanted a clean room every day. And if it happened a second day, I'd return to the front desk and ask for the manager to accompany me to the uncleaned room. You'll probably get a survey after your stay, take it and mention the issue - enough complaints and steps will be taken to correct things.
Poly was a one and done for me, not due to cleaning issues (although we did have one which we didn't complain about) I was unimpressed w/ the view from my 'garden view' room that overlooked a parking lot w/ those worthless Juliette balconies & the lobby was too chaotic for me.

Honestly, we've experienced housekeeping issues at almost all of the WDW resorts. Nothing major. Yes, we've returned to a room that hadn't been cleaned and a quick call to housekeeping solved the problem.

From what I've heard, and someone correct me if I am wrong, DVC Villas get daily housekeeping when one stays on a cash-reservation even with appropriate discounts, gets housekeeping daily.

Never CALL with problems. Unfortunately if you want to be assured to speak with someone actually at resort .... go to the front desk.
