I love credit cards so much!

Assuming this is correct, I'll be curious to see strategies for spending via Chase Pay and Paypal. Sure wish Toys R Us took Chase Pay so that I could buy GOC cards (I think they take Apple Pay but not Chase Pay??).
Except they may not even be in business beginning next week. Yikes! I thought the same thing, though.

How many credit cards have you opened in the past 24 months? Do you have a business? Sell anything on eBay? How much are you comfortable with spending every month on a credit card? What airlines are near you?

It’s definitely possible to get free flights and hotels in Europe and Hawaii.

I want to go to Rome. So far I have 180k Marriott Points for five nights and 60k Delta miles. My SO needs Delta comfort so we are working on getting more miles there.

Southwest should be flying to Hawaii soon. Anywhere in particular you want to stay there?
Hawaii I want to go to two islands Maui and Oahu. Italy want to go to Rome & Venice. I opened 2 credit cards in past 24 months. Yes I own a daycare business. So any hints you have for me would be great.

Ok so dh CIP spend has been met. Refresh my memory chases 5/24 is only for chase cards correct

Don’t have any Amex and thinking that should be the next Card but also want other chase cards but think I need to let them be for a little since getting two bus and Two sapphires in the last year.

Chase's 5/24 rule is a restriction that applies to getting approved or denied for certain Chase cards; but the rule counts personal cards from any card issuer (Chase, Amex, Citi, Barclays, WF, Capital One, etc.) and some business cards (e.g., Capital One). Chase, Amex, and Citi business cards don't report to your personal credit report, so don't count towards */24.

Amex has their own restrictions: you can get only 2 credit cards from Amex in a 90 day period (does not apply to or count charge cards); you can hold only 4-5 open credit cards at a time (again, does not apply to or count charge cards); and you can only get a signup bonus on an Amex product once per lifetime (so make sure you're applying for the highest offer you can get).

If you apply for an Amex business card next (like the SPG Biz, Business Rewards Gold, Business Platinum, Delta business cards, or Hilton Biz), it won't count against your */24 with Chase. If you apply for an Amex personal card, it will count when Amex reports it to your credit reports. It used to be that Amex was slow to report new personal cards to the credit bureaus, often waiting until the close of your second statement or about 2 months for the new card to show up on your credit report; but recent reports on reddit suggest Amex is reporting faster these days, with a lot of data points saying new Amex cards are showing up on their credit reports after the first statement, so in a month to 1 1/2 months.

Do you have a Chase branch nearby? If so, go to your nearest branch, ask to speak with a Business Relationship Manager and inquire about the Chase Ink Business Preferred ("CIP") credit card. I believe the in-branch offer on that card is still 100,000 Ultimate Rewards ("UR") points, worth $1,000 in cash or $1,250 (or potentially $1,500 if you eventually get the Chase Sapphire Reserve ("CSR") card) towards travel booked through Chase. If you don't have access to a branch, or the offer is no longer available, you can still apply online for an 80,000 UR points signup bonus offer. As a business owner, who is still under 5/24 (2/24 according to you), the CIP is the most obvious card to recommend because of the high signup bonus, the flexibility of UR points to transfer to airline and hotel partners or redeem like cash to book travel through Chase, and it's very strong ability to earn 3x UR points going forward.

ETA: I'll add that since you are only at 2/24 (2 credit cards in the past 24 months), you're in a really good place to get approved for many of Chase's most rewarding cards, and intersperse those cards with Amex business cards. However, you need to formulate a strategy, which we can help with, so you can identify which cards you'll want to apply for, in what order so you don't get tripped up by restrictions and rules put in place by card issuers that might lead to a costly mistake or missed opportunities, and what to do with all those points when you earn them.

Oh, thank you! I'll share a little story from last night that just made me my mama heart happy. My oldest dd (one in red & white dress) is chronically ill so she doesn't feel good a lot but after several bad days (new meds), yesterday, she felt pretty good. Even feeling good, she always has joint pain though. A boy that she has known since she was in 3rd grade asked her to dance. She was like, "Jordan, you know I don't dance." He said, "Well, maybe for the right song". He went over to the dj and they started playing "Tale as Old as Time" and came back and took my dd's hand and danced with her. Her first slow dance with a boy and it was to a song from her favorite movie

This is an amazingly sweet story!!

Just a heads up in case anyone didn't know. Ebay is having 20% off everything today using code PSPRING20.
It doesn't apply towards cards. It also is not that ebay bucks stuff. This is instant savings.

I got some stuff from my Amazon cart that i was waiting to go down. Combined that with ebates UP to 10% plus
I ran to grocery store and got ebay gift card with Amex 6x card.

Ebates had 5% in home and garden so got some nice deals total on kitchen stuff i had been eyeing.

The only place I've encountered Chase Pay is Best Buy in-store, and on the Walmart dot com website. Both sell gift cards. LOL

If a store says they take Samsung pay, would that also work for Chase pay? I asked at Kroger if they took Apple pay, she said I don't think so, but I know we take Samsung pay. I tried the apple pay, did not work. I do have the Chase pay app on my phone, but have never used it. I knew I would have to log in and there was a line behind me and I already wasted time trying to get Apple Pay to work so did not try. It obviously does not matter for this coming quarter, but just wondered. I will try next time and have it up and running before I get to register.

No, Samsung Pay doesn't work with Chase Pay. AFAIK, Chase Pay is an app that generates a QR code that a cashier has to scan in store. It's not really a wireless form of payment the way Samsung Pay or Apple Pay are.

Okay. Just send a message to southfayettefan.
Looking for free airfare or hotels for Italy or Hawaii. I don't have a chase branch close but will try looking online. Thanks for all the helpful information.

You'll find that just about everyone in this thread has a lot more information to help you. For example, there are quite a few of us in here who have Hawaii plans in the next year or two. But you need to ask questions so we know how to help, and try to make this thread a part of your daily read. Hope to see more of you around here!

I haven't installed the app yet but I was reading about it and I thought it said within the app you could see what stores near you accepted it. So I guess they have a location service built in, or maybe a search. I thought I ready Kroger was doing a trial of it but I don't have any Kroger stores near me so I don't pay close attention. I think I was looking up supermarkets that took it and kinda stopped when I found Shoprite :)

O.m.g. I’m a dude and this story even has me swooning.

ETA: I’ve really enjoyed reading your posts and seeing your beautiful girls all dressed up for their snazzy event last night. And then this post! I can’t even right now.

I know :) I wasn't there (only stayed for awards) but one of my dd's friends took pics and I got to see those. This guy friend (and he's JUST a friend) is a big guy...like 6'0 and big build...and my dd is petite so it kind of looked like Belle and the beast from a distance lol :) I'll be an emotional mess for weddings if I get this sappy over a first dance.

@Lain gave you great advice. I would agree with him, and suggest a CIP to start you out. That would start you out with 80k UR which you could use for your hotel stays. Once you know which airline you would like to fly and what hotels, you will probably want to target those branded cards as well.

As a follow up to my earlier suggestion about the Chase Ink Preferred card, if you don't have a Chase branch nearby, it may make sense to put off applying for the CIP until a few months down the line.

The reason being Amex is currently offering the SPG Business credit card at an all-time high of 35,000 Starpoints right now until 3/28/18, so it might make more sense for you to apply for this SPG Biz card first. The current offer from Amex is 35,000 Starpoints after spending $7,000 in 3 months, with the first year annual fee waived. Don't be distracted by the point difference because different points are valued differently. So whereas the CIP would get you 80,000 UR points, and you can transfer UR points to Marriott Rewards points at 1:1, so 80k UR = 80k Marriott points, 35k Starpoints = 105k Marriott points because they transfer at 3:1. It gets a bit more complicated from there. But with Starpoints, you can transfer them to airline partners, transfer them to Marriott for stays or vacation packages, or if you have enough of them use them for free nights at Starwood hotels and resorts.

And because the Amex SPG Biz is a business card, it will not report to your personal credit report, and will not count towards how many credit cards you've opened in the past 24 months (*/24), which won't affect any plans you have to apply for Chase's credit cards (like the CIP) down the line. We expect the CIP will still have its 80,000 UR signup bonus in a few months time.
