I love credit cards so much!

I keep getting e-mails from Chase asking me to add an AU to my Southwest cards but don't say anything about additional points if I do. I know a lot of Chase cards give a bonus for an AU, even if they don't advertise it. Anyone know if this is true for the Southwest cards?

somehow Discover will ferret out that amount and not give me the full credit? I'm running out of discounted 3rd party gift cards I'm willing to buy right now so I'd like to just prepay for a bunch of future BJ's trips.

I can't speak to whether BJ's will allow a GC purchase but Discover hasn't appeared to have a problem with GC purchases (I've bought several thousand dollars worth :)). Maybe purchase a small BJ's gift card at BJ's (if it's near) or online to see if BJ's has a problem with it.

I'm not aware of any bonus for adding authorized users to your Southwest cards. I don't believe there's any bonus. Generally speaking, you should not add a spouse as an AU to your cards because the AU account will appear as an open account on their personal credit report and likely count against their */24 count with Chase. If you'd like a spouse to sign up for Chase cards with you or in the future, don't add him as an AU (especially if there are no points involved); just sign him up for his own card and signup bonus (and potentially a referral bonus for you).

Hawaii I want to go to two islands Maui and Oahu. Italy want to go to Rome & Venice. I opened 2 credit cards in past 24 months. Yes I own a daycare business. So any hints you have for me would be great.

You may have already done this, but just wanted to say that before applying for credit cards and accumulating points....try to figure out where you would want to stay. For example - many European cities are not awash with the usual Marriott/Hilton etc options. In Rome, i think there is only one good Marriott option and it is a category 9. If you are going to Rome - location is so important. I am not sure how the Marriott options are in Venice, but it is a good idea to discover your options before gathering the points only to find that you can't use them for a hotel in a good location.

Thanks! I was going to buy a BJ's GC online but they don't sell them there :( So that's why I was wondering about any in-store silliness. Like I can buy thousands of dollars of VGC's or Disney GC's with a CC but BJ's GC no-no... with them not selling their own GC's online who knows what other goofiness might happen. :)
I could probably buy Sam's Club but I don't have a membership there, I have to tag along with my mom so not quite so easy to use on future visits.

Could your mom log on to Sams and you shop and then pay with your Discover? Pretty sure they won't care if they get their $$ :) Then she could either buy the GC from you OR you could have it for a rainy day when y'all are online shopping for Sam's essentials :-)

I do 100% of my Sam's shopping online since I hate going in and fighting the parking lot.

Just a thought :)

I had also not heard anything about that but I also know they don't always advertise the bonus points for AU.

No worries, I was not going to add DH as AU, he has his own Southwest cards anyway. :) I was thinking I could add my dd.

Thank you for the suggestion. I haven't looked at the hotels in the area or applied for cc yet. Figured I need to look into the options and appreciate all the feedback

Good thought, I have done that before and nope they don't care. I've got some more scheming to do now, great!

Grocery stores and Chase Pay/PayPal 5x categories?! Sounds like Chase really wants me to buy $1,500 in GCs/VGCs next quarter.

The only place I've encountered Chase Pay is Best Buy in-store, and on the Walmart dot com website. Both sell gift cards. LOL

only place I have seen/used Chase Pay as well. All these payment options are a waste if you can hardly use then anywhere. The companies should consolidate. In the mean time, I will keep using the promos for gift cards. Guess I will knock out a good chunk of that 2019 dcl bill with this quarter.

Is the best plan going to be Disney GC from BB or Walmart.com using chase pay?

Or can I use chase pay somewhere to buy Walmart cards at 5x points and use the Walmart cards at Sams for discounted Disney cards?

ETA:^^^^oh wait! I can buy Walmart cards on gyft for 5x using PayPal and buy Disney at Sams. Yes! See I am catching oN! I'd get 5000 UR points and $30 savings for ever $1k I spend in Disney gift cards....now waiting for one of you pros to come along and tell me where I am going wrong. lol

Good mama! Never too young to start building credit. I have my DD as an AU on one of my oldest cards. We’ll see where that gets her when she turns 18 a long, long time from now.

If a store says they take Samsung pay, would that also work for Chase pay? I asked at Kroger if they took Apple pay, she said I don't think so, but I know we take Samsung pay. I tried the apple pay, did not work. I do have the Chase pay app on my phone, but have never used it. I knew I would have to log in and there was a line behind me and I already wasted time trying to get Apple Pay to work so did not try. It obviously does not matter for this coming quarter, but just wondered. I will try next time and have it up and running before I get to register.

I'm not sure where you live, and I will admit that this is a shameless plug for my employer, but Albertsons/Safeway take Apple Pay at all of their banner stores (which also include Acme, Shaws/Star Markets about 10 others).

This is what I've done. It's sort of cumbersome and I have to keep track of the WM gc (you have to activate them with a link sent to your email) then use at Sam's (limit of 4 gc per transaction) but with fewer and fewer options for discounts on gc that I'm willing to do...it's still worth it.

I have a big min spend to meet for my SPG but my gears are turning on DH's next card.

CSR 2/2016- points posted 4/13/16? (was originally CSP and upgraded to CSR)
AMEX 2008
SWV 6/17
SWV 9/17
Citi 2010

Currently:
2/24

I am thinking I refer him to SPG Biz...7500 for me 35k for him
Then refer him to CIP....20k for me 80k for him

then 2 southwest cards late in the year for CP (his expires 12/18).

I want to keep a CSR. I only have a CSP, but I guess I could upgrade mine so he can churn his after April. Not sure where this fits in my plan.

Any thoughts? We are doing the Hawaii thing sometime, as I mentioned, and will need to plan for our 2019 DCL Alaska trip. Otherwise, I am really just try hoard points. I can always find a use for them.

Now you’re getting it!

Walmart . com also sells their gift cards online and offers Chase Pay (and maybe PayPal?) at checkout. But you might have problems with Walmart flagging your orders and canceling them. If that happens, you’ll need to chat with a Walmart . com rep to unflagging any fraud alert on your account.

Unintended consequence of churning: I had to update my iOS. I've been hanging onto 10 as long as I could (updating always goes bad for me and this time I lost some of my fav old apps due to the no 32 bit nonsense) but the State Farm app takes Apple Pay and I wanted those 3x points! State farm app would only download if I upgraded to 11. Secret to getting everybody to upgrade their phone? Pay them. Even if it's just points!

Sounds like a good plan to me.

1. SPG Biz this month, offer expires 3/28/18: 35k Starpoints for DH; 7.5k Starpoints for you. So that’s a combined $14k/3 months spend between both your SPG Biz cards.

2. CIP for the 20k UR referral to you, 80k UR to DH whenever you’re ready for the $5k/3 months spend.

The above two cards don’t count and will keep DH at 2/24. Then you’ll likely have room for 4 more personal cards by doing either a CSP+CSR or 2x SW cards double dip at 4/24.

So,

3. Sometime after April, DH could product change his CSR to a Freedom or Freedom Unlimited, maybe give it a month for the change to update with Chase and on his credit reports, then double dip the CSP+CSR. That’s a combined $8k MSR in 3 months.

Those two cards will bring DH to 4/24, with one personal card slot left that can potentially turn into two.

4. Towards the end of the year, or early next year, DH can cancel his SW cards, then go for the SW Biz, which won’t count against his */24 and one of the personal SW cards; or, he could double dip (apply for both) the SW personal cards on the same day using his last slot to get around the 5/24 limit.

The first option will leave him at 5/24, with a card dropping off in June 2019. The latter option will bring him to 6/24, so he’ll need the two SW cards from 6/17 and 9/17 to drop off in June and September 2019 before he’s under 5/24 again.

Another possibility is,

5. DH applies for the SW Biz late this year or early next year so he meets his minimum spend such that his points post in 2019. Then, he’s still at 4/24 because the SW Biz doesn’t count. 30 days after DH was approved for the SW Biz, he can still use that last slot at 4/24 to get two personal cards in a double dip. So he could get one of the SW personal cards (again make sure the points post in the same year as those from the SW Biz to qualify for CP) and apply for another personal card on the same day he’s approved for the SW personal card — maybe the Marriott personal card or whatever other new cards Chase might roll out this year.

This will bring him to 6/24, and he’ll need to wait until 9/19 to hit Chase again. In the meantime, there are plenty of Amex business cards to keep your DH busy.
