I called customer service asking about approximate price for upgrading my (2 park) 3 day park to park ticket to a seasonal AP. I was told I would only be able to upgrade to a 3 park seasonal AP or a premium 2 park. Found this hard to believe. I would upgrade IN the park in 3 weeks. Anyone upgrade to 2 park seasonal really recently?
Thanks!!

Suggest you send an email to guest services and ask them

They are up to date on policies and give out accurate info

My understanding is, if you have tickets for a 3 park multi day pass, you can upgrade only to the 3 park ap

Maybe the person you talked with thought you had the 3 park pass?

I had a 3 park ticket and upgraded to a 2 park seasonal pass in October. My daughter had a 2 park ticket and upgraded to a 2 park seasonal pass in October.

People have recently reported here that if you have a 3 park ticket and you use one day at Volcano Bay, then you can only upgrade to a 3 park annual pass. Nobody else has reported the situation that Guest Services have described to you.

I suggest you follow Mac's advice and send them an email. I agree with you in that it doesn't seem logical what you are being told.

Since we don't plan to go to Volcano Bay, I asked if we could upgrade the 3-park Explorer Pass to 2-par Annual if we don't use Volcano Bay. Here is the answer I got:

Thank you for contacting Universal Orlando Resort™ Guest Services.

Yes, if your 3-Park Explorer ticket is not used at Universal’s Volcano Bay, it can be upgraded to a 2-Park Preferred Annual Pass.

:thanks:

For sharing that info

It will help guide others wanting to upgrade their tickets to the ap

Please forgive my ignorance on this but this question has been occurring to me as I read these threads. What's the value in upgrading to the annual pass from regular tickets vs just buying the annual pass?

We're looking at spending a week in Orlando on property, and UT pricing on 3 day park to park tickets is a break even with the lowest tier AP. Why not just buy APs to begin with? (and I don't mean that snotty, I'm honestly just curious)

Yes, if your 3-Park Explorer ticket is not used at Universal’s Volcano Bay, it can be upgraded to a 2-Park Preferred Annual Pass.
Just to make sure I'm understanding correctly, if you have actually used the 3-park ticket to get into VB even once, then you would NOT be able to upgrade to the 2-Park Preferred AP, correct?

If a person has the 3 park ticket and goes to Vbay one time, the person can only upgrade to the 3 park preferred ap

If the person who has the 3 park tickets and does not visit Vbay, they can upgrade the 3 park ticket pass to the preferred 2 park ap

Do this at guest services

Has anybody recently upgraded a 3-park 14 days Explorer Ticket (the one you get in UK) and can tell what value they got? The Universal site sells the Explorer ticket for roughly 370$ within a package and that would mean, a Power Pass Upgrade would kind of be free, but I've read that people had to pay 5$ for a Seasonal 2-park pass. The UK site lists it with 249 Pounds as it's a "buy 2, get 3 parks Promo" which would translate to 346$.
Just wondering, how much I will need to spend to upgrade one ticket to Preferred Pass...

I recently upgraded the explorer ticket to the seasonal 2-park pass. It cost $5.00 per adult ticket and $15.00 to go from a child explorer ticket to a 2-park seasonal pass. We upgraded at guest services inside IOA. As a note my sister in law tried to upgrade the same ticket at city walk, her hotel and Universal Studios and was told she could not downgrade the explorer ticket to a 2-park ticket because she had already visited volcano bay and that she would have to purchase the 3-park seasonal pass(I believe the price was around $95-$100) per ticket. She even sent an email and received the same response. I told her to try guest services inside IOA and they happily did the upgrade to the 2-park seasonal pass for $5.00.

I gave you the answer
In the above post of yours already

Maybe you missed it?

Once you use your tickets for Vbay, you are required to go with the 3 park ap pass when upgrading tickets

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone here for sharing your experience and insight. It was really helpful in planning our first trip to Universal Orlando!

We just got back from Universal and I wanted to report back that we've successfully upgraded 2-park 3-day tickets that I purchased from Undercover Tourist to Seasonal Passes. We went to Guest Services inside Universal Studios on our 2nd park day. They actually gave us a refund of $20+tax per each ticket that we upgraded to a Seasonal Pass. We were pleasantly surprised that they gave us a cash refund. Team Member that we encountered was attentive and friendly and the whole process of upgrading was painless. We are very much looking forward to another trip to Universal Orlando soon!

Great news funtimes2

now you have another reason to make a return trip to the darkside

Yes, I did it yesterday.

A refund? What a surprise lol. Nice to hear a report of positive experience with GS.

We upgraded out 2 park (3 days tickets) successfully in December to a Seasonal Pass. We've been back in February and March and planned around the concerts/blackout dates and had great trips. Our March trip we spent 3 leisurely days in the parks and RPH pools and just went into IOA on March 10 (concert date) to ride The Hulk. So glad we upgraded to the Seasonal Pass! If we go back in December, we might have to upgrade again with the concerts and the way our vacation works but we'll worry about that down the road.

I hope to reuse my season pass when I purchase in September. Hopefully flights and costs will work out!

Since we will be there 7 days, it made sense to simply purchase the Seasonal Pass. I will use this as leverage for our post tax season trip to the South in May 2019.
