Anyone else have an issue? We were checking out of beach club this morning when we got a text that our 4:00 flight was cancelled. Nothing available the entire day for us. All flights either sold out or Cancelled from MCO to MSY.

So we moved to Coronado springs for the night, reboooked on a morning flight tomorrow and bought a new park ticket. Just can’t figure out why they canceled multiple flights from MCO to MSY.

because of the crash they are having to inspect engines by mandate so planes are having to be taken out of service

I understand why they are cancelling flights, but did you get any help from the airline? It sounds like flights are just being cancelled here and there, not the whole fleet down.

Sorry to hear of the cancellation and extra work to get back home. I understand it’s about the mandatory inspections, but rather surprising that SW didn’t offerto help to get you another flight.
Did you reach out to them via phone or re-schedule online yourself?

Enjoy ur Xtra day and safe travels.

No help. Have to fly tomorrow and lost our A boarding. Now in B-20s. Disney wasn’t a ton of help either. So the cancellation is costing us a few hundred bucks. I’d rather be safe but ouch. Still hurts!

Every flight out of MCO to MSY, even via connections is sold out or cancelled. Wish we would’ve known last night—we could’ve rented a car and had time to drive home. We didn’t find out until 10:45 this morning—as we were leaving the room to do resort airline checkin. Oh well. This is what insurance is for, I guess. So not a bad gamble considering we’ve never bought it and have never needed it. There are worse things.

Did they allow you to just add a day to your existing tickets or you had to pay full price for a one day ticket?

Odd every time SWA has cancelled a flight on us the email has information re rescheduling options.

Even if it’s just a minor schedule time change they normally will let u move date of travel no up charge a day or so

When in terminal & something goes amiss (weather, staffing or equipment issues), gate agents will handle or u can rebook on your own

If over the current stated length of time is spent cooling heels for all but weather delays, it’s time to ask for compensation. Google it to verify how many hours and what circumstances typically qualify

Sorry to hear, awful if u had a commitment. I’d certainly speak to their customer service department

I used my last day on park ticket last night so they made me buy a whole new ticket rather than just add a day. That was frustrating. If we’d have known last night we could have taken care of it before we left MK.

Thanks for the info. We leave in 10 days (party of 14)for MCO and are quite concerned.

Wow. That is not very nice. They could have easily have helped out a little bit.
Upgrading has to be done before the last day. That's a policy.

Just because a flight is cancelled and you are now going out on the next day doesn't mean you have to use that extra time at Disney. Flights get cancelled all the time, weather related, maintenance related, not enough passengers (so a condensing of flight is done), etc. Disney cannot nor should they be responsible for accounting for all the "what ifs" that can happen.

The OP didn't have to go to Disney with the remaining time they had but they chose to. I can understand if they wanted to for sure but if they did then they would need to purchase a ticket. There are also things to do on Resort property that is not going into the theme parks.

It's good though that the OP was able to remain on property and that a resort room was available to them.

Don't remember saying they had to do anything or should have done anything. Just said that it wasn't nice and they could have easily have done so. Many "policies" are changed to accommodate people all the time. Party tickets say non refundable and no exchanges on them also but they change them for people all the time. Thanks though for providing the exact policy for us so we all know.

I just checked MCO to MSY and maybe it wasn't available or the number of seats left weren't enough when you checked but there is a flight out at 8:15pm connected in Houston and lands in MSY at 11:40pm tonight.

Party tickets are completely different. Just because people have at times have gotten refunds doesn't mean the policy I pasted above should be treated as such. They are two different types of tickets.

But for theme park tickets what the OP wanted to do was upgrade their tickets by adding days. They were ineligible to do so since they had no more admissions left. This would be the same case if they wanted to add park hopper but waited to do so on their last day. If you have no more admissions left you would have been unable to add park hopper for your last day on your last day.

You said "They could have easily have helped out a little bit." Well what else did you mean by that?- other than they should have let the person add a day rather than purchase a new ticket.

No. Disney doesn't have to help out. But they could have. If it were me, I would have explained the situation at Guest Services and asked for a break on the one day ticket.

As stated they COULD have easily because they have the power to do so. No reason to argue about it. Just stating that it is unfortunate that they couldn't.

I mean IDK. Flight cancellations happen a lot.

I'd expect Disney to be accommodating to a hurricane (which they were) that is happening in their backyard but a flight cancellation that happens to thousands of people everyday?

I don't think it hurts to ask in most cases but don't go in expecting them to give you a break on a ticket price, or bridge it. They have a policy in place for a reason and any exceptions should always stay exceptions not the norm, not expectations.

Like I said though the OP chose to go to the parks. They could have gone mini-golfing, resort hopping, gone to Disney Springs, etc any number of things. They opted to add in more park time.
