I love credit cards so much!

Those of you buying cards at Lowes, how much have you been allowed to buy at once? And did it trigger the offer email immediately? I went and bought $900, and was immediately charged $900, but the store would only activate $100 and made me get an $800 refund for the remainder. I never got an email that I triggered the offer.
And can it be multiple times until you get to the max offer value?

I bought $300 yesterday. No problems at my store activating that much. I’ve not received an email that I used the offer.

Hey- Nov 6-12 here!! Hoping to thread a (mostly) post-hurricane season with the end of food and wine trip. Worked out nice for us last year, and there were indeed many people from Jersey!

I was looking around those dates b/c the kids are off 11/6 for Election Day. I am sorta stuck waiting to do anything for Fall/Winter until I get the hockey schedule. grrr.
Is early Nov busy then?

Just be aware that Plastiq does restrict mortgage payments using Visa, so although your payments are going through now, Plastiq may catch future payments and cancel then. A few members here had their mortgage payments stopped in the last few weeks. But it’s great as long as it lasts. Fingers crossed it’s a long ride.

:rolleyes1 I changed my mortgage's category to utilities to see if it will go though since they didn't cancel my recurring payments. Will let ya'll know what happens. They may get mad and shut me down. :ssst:

If I had a friend who's just starting up a business ( real one) and needs a solid biz cc,just one, whats' the best recommendation? (friend has had other businesses before, new venture, but no real cc knowledge) I'd like to point them in the right direction for getting rewards for their purchases
it depends on what kind of business it is. if it fits into CIP category or cic category, then have them apply for those. if not, I'd suggest the Amex blue business? it gives 2x MR on everything

I think you can too. I just have the 10% back at Lowes promo so I told each of my kids that I would use their cash they have been saving to go buy them Disney GC's to use on our trip and they would save 10%. Unfortunately, I was only able to do that for two kids lol. Will have to just buy the rest at our Kroger-chain store.

ETA: I get what you are saying...and no, weird, I did not see any Target. I was also looking for McD's...to treat my boys...no McD's either!!

Mine had lots of targets. Maybe your were just wiped out. Hopefully they will restock.

What is the email? I went to Lowe's Sunday and bought some plants, planters, dirt (no GC) and already have my 10% credit on my card (SPG Biz) showing up. Do they normally send an email as well?

I've been trying to catch up for a couple of weeks. This morning I finally finished up trying to at least skim through all the posts I missed. The last few weeks have literally felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. I'll just summarize so I don't end up with a post that takes up an entire page.

Saturday May 26th - Attended my uncle's funeral services. He passed away suddenly due to a ruptured stomach aneurysm. My dad was rushed to the ER (as we were coming out of the funeral services) for signs of stroke and transferred to stroke unit at a New Orleans hospital.
Monday May 28th - We found out my dad had a mini stroke and they found 2 small aneurysms in his brain.
Wednesday May 30th - Our son fell backwards into a fire ring while camping. This resulted in 2nd degree burns to his legs, arms and hands.
Friday June 1st - We found out FIL has non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Saturday June 2nd - My step sister had to deliver her twin baby girls at 25 weeks due to her blood pressure. Babies are in NICU and we're hoping for a miracle.
Sunday June 3rd - My mom's uncle passed away suddenly in the early morning.

I took a few days off work (and life honestly) at the end of last week and beginning of this week to be with my son and DH. We're all stressed out and just plain emotionally and physically exhausted. I'm honestly not sure if I can handle any more bad news. Bringing my son to his dr today for a follow-up on the healing of his burns. Praying it's all looking good.

Now back to the topic at hand. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can use URs to offset the cost of WDW AP. My original plan was to use UR to purchase WDW tickets through Chase, then upgrade those tickets to APs when we arrive for our Labor Day weekend trip. However, we also booked a trip for October for my sons' fall break, so that route wouldn't allow me to make FPs for the October trip at the 60 day mark.

I was thinking I could just renew our APs, which just expired on June 3rd, but I can't figure out a way to use URs to directly offset that cost, besides cashing out as a statement credit which I'd rather not do. It's my understanding the value of a ticket cannot be used toward an AP renewal, so I wouldn't be able to try that either. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I may be missing something because at this point my brain is almost mush.

I was only buying $150 that trip since we have plenty of time to max out the offer. I had no issues. I didn't get an email but the 10% rebate posted a couple days later. FWIW, I didn't get emails about my hertz rebates in the OPEN Savings program either, the rebates would just post, and I think this is basically the same program, just consolidated with the amex offers now.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry. What an awful couple of weeks for you!:grouphug:

If it were me, I'd probably stick with your original plan and just take my chances on Fps for Oct.

ETA: I didn't read your original post well enough...you already considered the statement credit, so nevermind.

First, I am sending you huge hugs. You and your family are in my thoughts for miracles, speedy healing, and comfort.

When are you going in Oct? I have some extra tickets that could be used to hold FP temporarily (assuming change party on the web holds out). We’re going down in Oct but only planning 2 days in parks so can possibly book extra days of FP).

Yeah, that's Jersey week and it was busy. It wasn't holiday insane and imho was totally manageable with FastPasses and afternoon breaks from the parks but the parks did feel busy to me (I have VERY limited WDW experience). Lines at the booths at F&W weren't bad at all during the week, started getting busy Fri and we stayed away from Epcot over the weekend. The Christmas Party the Fri of Jersey week was PACKED (and not sold out), I will never do that again (the Xmas party I did in 2015 on a Tues at the mid Nov after Jersey Week was wonderful, timing matters). Fireworks in MK on normal nights were reportedly jam packed (by other guests accounts, I did not attempt one) to the point of misery so if that's important to you I would seriously consider some sort of dessert party.

I don't have any answers on your AP question, but just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and your family! What a miserable couple of weeks.

We're doing MVMCP opening night this year and I'm sure it's going to be nuts. I know it's sold out in years past, but I don't know how many tickets they actually sell. We haven't done a party in 10 years though so we're looking forward to it. We just probably won't be trying to meet the seven dwarves :)

Oh my, that's awful! So many hugs and prayers for you and yours!

There is no way to upgrade an AP with URs that I know of, if you have all hotels, rental cars, flights for your travels already covered and you don't want to use cash from your bank account, cash out some URs. It's not the best use of URs obviously but it is one of the best parts about obtaining that particular points currency because it has actual cash value of 1 cpp. You can do a statement credit or you can cash out the exact amount you want and have it sent directly to your bank account.

After the fireworks show we grabbed coffee and hit 7DMT around 11pm, 20 min wait so even though we had a rough night finishing it up with 7DMT definitely gave us some Xmas party magic despite the crowds :D

FYI, Marriott's website is all sorts of messed up today, so maybe double check your account if you try to log in for any reason. Mine will log me in but every time I try to click on account overview or anything, it takes me back to the login screen and says "Welcome back, Elisabeth" (my name is not Elisabeth) and then won't let me login.

@mhartman09 I won’t quote your whole post it is just too sad! But I am beyond sorry. Good heavens...when it rains it pours.

On the AP issue you can use a ticket to go toward the cost of a renewed AP but it has to be in person in WDW. I would probably just keep with your original plan (buy tickets with Chase and then upgrade to AP). You can only make the 7 days of FP’s anyway. I think sometimes (I am totally guilty of that) we get too fixated on making the FP’s the 60 days out. Especially during party season the FP’s at MK at least are sparse.

So I just discovered YNAB after seeing it mentioned a few times. And I thought meeting MSR on two new cards was all that would keep me busy this month....:surfweb:

Yaaaaay! Another convert. YNAB rocks. If you haven't already, do take the webinars - I found it confusing until I did some of the classes. There is no way I would do this hobby without having everything aggregating in YNAB. And I just find it helpful for managing our financial life. Hope you enjoy using it.

There are support links for YNAB too, the new YNABer and the person who refers them both get a free month of the service. Its only tangentially related to churning, but maybe we could add a place for links on the reddit page. What do you think, @SouthFayetteFan and @Albort?

Now it says "Welcome back, Ahsan" (also not my name) :rotfl2: You guys didn't know I had multiple personalities, did you?
