Oh man, she applied today and already approved? I put my app in yesterday. Still getting the 2 week message. I have been trying to control my calling the status line, only 4 calls in about 32 hours. Think I'm doing pretty good compared to some of the every hour callers. I am leaving in the morning on a trip and will get back Monday and leave again Tuesday for Disney. I may not remember to even call again. Maybe it will just be in my mailbox when I get home!

Yeah, she was lucky and I was too. She’s going to go to Disney with us, so I suggested she apply for this card too. She’s a little reluctant about the business card (any new card really). If she hadn’t been instantly approved she probably would’ve said forget it.

Congratulations to you mom! Never too late to get started on this hobby!

:banana::thumbsup2:cheer2:party::cool1:

Thanks! She’s a little nervous, but since she’s planning on coming to Disney with us in 2020 and is a perfect candidate for this (excellent credit, can meet minimum spends, pays off her one card every month...by mailing in a check (paying online tutorial coming soon), so I suggested she do what I’m doing. Next up will be southwest cards at the end of the year!

New to this board, but been reading it for a day or two so I know you guys are the people to ask. Long story short, I applied for a CSR card last week (before I saw this board) and they said they would let me know by mail. I guess that means I was denied. The main problem for me is that I live overseas, at least I think that is the problem. All of our bills are now mailed to us through a US address though, so I don't know if that would make a difference. We have stellar credit, but I do not have my own income, as I am a stay at home wife. I guess what I want to ask is, is it even possible for a SAHM to get a CSR while living overseas, even with stellar credit and no debt?

We travel A LOT and being able to rack up mileage would be wonderful. We have an old AMEX Delta card that we purchased a few US flights with for the summer, but we really need to flexibility of a card that we can use while overseas and to purchase flights on overseas carriers. Any extra advise you guys could give me would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

thanks! SQ F, now Etihad, your on a roll! :D

St Regis, the problem i found was you cant book any of those crazy rooms on points. ppl say that to get status with the hotel chain and try to get upgraded but thats a bit tough for me.
I may simply chase those Hilton points though, but i do see it available on Chase Portal, just not the chain ones(ie SPG, IHG, Hilton).

I have looked at some of them that you can book on points at the Conrad Maldives, it’s a crazy number of points. I have not looked into the St. Regis yet since it just got on my radar. The Hilton Aspire gives you Diamond status which is the top tier status available with Hilton. It’s another reason we will be keeping that card. It pays for itself if you are using the $250 airline credit and the $250 Hilton resort credit and a free annual weekend night.

Can't wait to see how you make this happen so I can live vicariously through you until it is my time :)

I’ll be dong my best and I will keep everyone here in the loop.

I have a question. Dh is almost done with the msr for his cip card. Should he switch to the cic right away? We have an October Disney trip and thought we could use the cic to get gift cards at an office store.

I just kind of caught up on this news of the new Marriott biz coming out in August... I hope there are some good upgrade offers! Got my Marriott biz back in January and would love some additional points!

No, I wouldn’t recommend it.

DH got approved for the CIP just last month; I don’t even think it’s been 30 days yet.

Chase business credit card approvals are subject to a 0/30 rule, meaning you need to have had 0 other Chase applications in the past 30 days or you’ll face likely denial.

Even if/when DH is past 30 days since applying for and getting his CIP, it’s too soon for him to go for another Chase business card. Technically, he could do it. Chase may approve him, but he runs the risk of hitting Chase too hard, too fast. Particularly with Chase business cards, it’s best to give yourself at minimum 3-6 months in between business cards. Or Chase may deny DH for a myriad of reasons, including not enough time has passed since his last account with Chase was opened.

If you want the CIC in your household, you can apply for it. It has a solid 50k UR signup bonus, a low(ish) MSR of $3k in 3 months, and like you said, solid 5x UR earning categories for gift cards. I know you were planning on DH referring you to the CIP for a 20k bonus to him and a 80k bonus to you. You getting the CIC now would mean pushing your CIP out 3-6 months. So you need to decide your roadmap going forward.

Yes to the SAHM part. Just use your household income. On the overseas part sorry I have no idea.

Assumed that since I had the Lowes offer on my Amex that Dh would also. Went to add it so he could buy the new lawnmower while I was gone and he does not have it. So off to go buy a mower before I leave. Headed to 4 days of music at Firefly Music Festival with my DS. And I am still at 2 weeks with my CIP app.

Good Morning,

Thank you all for providing all this great information! I did a search for a couple of questions and was unable to find the answer.

Has anyone taken advantage of the AMEX platinum 60,000 point bonus? If so, are the Loews hotels available through AMEX travel with points?

My other question is regarding Chase. Is the 24 month window from when the last bonus was received, or from when the card was cancelled?

Thank you,

Rick

On your app did you use the US address?

You can check your status by calling 888-338-2586. If it says 2 weeks you are likely approved 7-10 days is a denial. And 30 days means they haven’t made a decision.

Did you list your income as 0? If you did that you probably won’t get approved. But for your next application you have the right to use anyone’s income that you live with that you use for support.

@amalone1013 We have a soda stream that we got at a yard sale (actually I think it was my sister's yard sale which would mean it was the wedding gift we gave her lol). DH uses it occasionally to make sparkling water. Too me it just seems like a lot of work when I can buy a large bottle of sparkling water at Trader Joe's for 79 cents, and that is saying a lot since I 1) make pretty much everything from scratch and 2) am cheap!

But all that being said, it does work well.

I'm wondering if I misunderstood your question.

By "switch," did you mean have DH product change his CIP to the CIC now?

I wouldn't recommend that either.

Technically, you can PC the CIP to CIC after you've met the MSR and your bonus posts; no need to wait a year like personal cards. Many people feel that's a good way to piss off Chase because if you PC that soon, you should've gone for the card you really wanted in the first place but you went for the bigger bonus. That said, it's doubtful anything bad will actually happen.

But, it's still not a good idea for DH to PC his CIP to CIC this soon. The reasons being:
(1) DH can eventually get the CIC's signup bonus if he applies for that card separately; he won't get any bonus for PCing to the CIC.
(2) DH still has to refer you to the CIP, so he should keep his CIP until then to generate a link for you to apply through. The CIC does not have referrals.

The weather differences between Phoenix and Flagstaff or Grand Canyon are drastic. When we were there Phoenix 105, rim 80, Canyon floor 130. Flagstaff was also 75-80. It’s in the mountains. According to some locals, Flagstaff is much pricier than Phoenix because it is a resort town with skiing in winter. We mostly drove thru Sedona and weather was hotter. The mountain drive from Flagstaff to Sedona was hair-raising but beautiful. Sedona is very New Age and most of what we saw was shopping.
so, we drove from Phoenix-GC(stopped in Flagstaff) don't forget all the beautiful canyons and places to explore along the way...so much beauty out there...one of my fave stops was Oak Creek canyon below Sedona (I think) wish I could've spent more time there...also lots of cool parks to visit like Walnut Creek (?) with old cave dwellings and lots of excellent walks and views...... I was glad we saw more than the GC(which was so awesome,we spent 3 nights there at Yavapai) I'd love to get to phantom ranch but it sounds daunting.we walked about a mile or so below the rim on both sides (different trips)

It doesn't mean you've been denied, it just means you weren't instantly approved.

Check Chase's automated status line by calling 1-800-432-3117, follow the prompts and press #, 3, 1, SSN. This should give you the status of your application. If it's pending at "30 days," your application is still being reviewed; "2 weeks" is still looking good, with likely approval; "7-10 days" is likely denial and you'll get a letter explaining the decision. Even if you've been denied, you can call the reconsideration line at 1-888-270-2127 to get someone to look over your application again and possibly approve you then. Especially if you're living overseas, it could be a verification issue where Chase isn't able to match your address to the applicant.

You can click through this flowchart as a guide to applying for Chase cards: https://chaseflowchart.info

As for being a SAHM, don't worry about it; we have so many SAHMs here who are active in this hobby. You can definitely use total household income on all of your credit card applications.

If you're thinking about opening more cards, let us know and we'll help you with a strategy.

I listed my husband's income, but did specify that it was his income, not my own. I used the US address for the app, but I got a 30 day reply. I was hoping for sooner, as I am traveling to the US late next week and would really rack up the points for the upcoming travel. I guess I will try calling. Thanks for the advice.
