Had to get in on the hair talk ;)
I don't blame her a bit! Basically as a female I have checked bag needs. Hair, face, eyes (extra wetting solution), sunscreen, footwear. I cannot speak for every woman but I assure you my DH would agree that $50 is a small price to pay to avoid my distress if I don't have my stuff  A certain person might have a reputation for her response in a certain hotel in Edinburgh when her luggage was lost and she was told "we have shops here you know." :rotfl:
The first night in London of our 10 night trip, my friend took me to a drug store to buy a straightener. For her naturally extremely straight hair.
DH always laughs at me because I frequently travel without bringing a hairbrush :rotfl2: I also don't use conditioner in my hair, so I just put whatever shampoo the hotel provides in it and call it a day. Finger comb it and off I go. I owned a hair straightener at one time... I wonder where that is.
:rotfl: I finally pitched these brushes I was hauling around last month. We used to straighten my hair before I found products that gave me happy curls vs book Hermione hair. And by we I mean basically my mom, who would blow dry it straight for me because that was faster and not as hard on my hair as using the straightener. I still had those brushes even though I only taught myself to blow dry it straight last month :rolleyes1 Part of teaching myself was tossing the old giant brushes that I couldn't use without knocking myself in the head, and getting a smaller brush. So now my 'occasional fancy hair styling kit' has my old $20 straightener from high school (for touchups... can't do without it for straightening), a curling iron (decent because it's a hand me down from my sister), a travel size dryer (because I never use a hair dryer other wise...), and the brush. And a travel size bottle of hair spray, because that only comes out for fancy occasions. Sometimes.
If I want shoes to dress up an outfit, I bring Tieks style ballet flats because they are travel friendly. Tieks are way too expensive as far as I'm concerned so I just want them to be flexible and fold-able like a pair of Tieks. Payless has a line of fold-able flats that are cute. My favorites are a brand I found at DSW called Me Too. These are fold-able, pack super easy, there are a lot of cute styles and they are pretty durable. I've have mine for years. The 3 pairs I have run small, so I did have to go up a full size.
Investigating. I could never bring myself to spend that on Tieks so I gave up on fold-able flats.
I don't own or use a brush either. If I did I'd look like I stuck my finger in a socket :scared1:
:rotfl: I use a brush out of the shower. The end. I can usually go 3 days without washing my hair as long as I don't get gross from whatever I'm doing. I fix my part with my fingers in the morning. Used to drive my mom batty, but you can't brush curls!!!
I swore I could have written this. Sometimes I go out without brushing my hair :rolleyes1 my hair is naturally straight and pretty manageable though. SO on the other hand needs his hair to be perfect lol he combs his hair before and after a shower. And then just before walking out the door. if he didn’t pack his comb I think he would die. I don’t think he would use just any comb lol
DH sometimes jokes about me not brushing my hair everyday. I just tell him he's a boy and doesn't get it because he doesn't even use a comb. Just towel drys. That's not fair.
It saves time not getting bags from baggage claim, though we’ve had stuff taken at the plane we had to retrieve from baggage claim.
This is a huge pet peeve of mine with Denver. I traveled out of DEN 2-3 times a year in college, always carry on only because that was when the checked bag fees started to hike up. So if they offered to gate check bags because of a full plane, I always volunteered. saved me from trying to wrestle it into an overhead bin. Drop on jetway, pick up on jetway, no wrestling, win-win. Well, ever since I started traveling with DH, they send everything at Denver to the stupid baggage claim :badpc::badpc::badpc: Now we've been burned too many times (and we don't even check often to begin with - but I'm more okay with it going home since I figure I can live without lost luggage easier at home than on a trip).

:offtopic: Question for those who do the Disney races: I am doing the Star Wars 10k. It starts at MK parking lot and ends at Epcot lot. For less stress is it worth paying a little more to stay at an MK or Epcot resort? Only 2 nights and decided to pay for it with Arrival Plus credit so not as worried about the higher cost. I mostly just want to make it as easy as possible for DH (spectator).
I would stay at Epcot so you can go right to your resort after the race. I’ve heard that’s the place to be when the race ends at Epcot.

This might have already been said but still catching up. We won’t eat at H&V anymore especially after the server lost my gift card and the manager wouldn’t do anything about it. We still had to pay for the meal and never did get my gc. Was not happy to lose out on the $500+ gc. Lots of time spent and bad memories. Kids still talk about it. Food just isn’t that great and the characters just rushed by didn’t interact. They were posed for a picture then tried to move on and didn’t answer any of the kids questions. they commented about the outfit and they didn’t do anything to acknowledge it. On the other hand fantasmic is great. You can get a fp for it in the afternoon if you wanted to. We have been able to get all 5 of us around 3-4 pm.
How horrible! And the manager wouldn't correct it in any way? Definitely not the Disney expectation and I can 100% understand why you would not want to return. One of my friends had a server loser her TiW card. Also HS, but that manager physically had a replacement printed for her without her having to go to guest relations. So sorry that happened. I do not return to H&V just because of the price/food, but you have an even better reason!

Oh wow that’s terrible losing a $500 gift card....
I’ve started taking pictures with my phone of our passes, gift cards etc to have them handy on case I misplaced something...never considered a server would....but I charge everything to my magic band, they pay at the front desk ever other day or so
Smart! I always leave and empty Disney gift card in my online account in fear of misplacing or losing the active one I am swiping with. I figure in an emergency, I can login online and transfer the balance to the empty card and start using it that way.

Lol well here's one I've never seen before... I'm planning to pay off my student loan when I get my tax refund and my third paycheck of the month in March. I was trying to think up some ways to maximize this. I was thinking of maybe just using my CIU and then slowly paying down the balance during the 0% period while parking my money in Ally to collect some interest.

Turns out my student loan provider doesn't accept Visa!! Who doesn't accept Visa?! All they take is Mastercard, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, and China Union Pay. What the heck???
But they take Plastiq, right? But really, what the heck kind of list is that??

Arghhhhh whatttttt. That's so wrong. I take pictures of everything too, and then send them all to DH so he has a copy. I've heard that if you lose your GC Disney will help you transfer the $$ to a new one in the park, if you know the GC number.

Since we don't usually do mb charging, I track all of my purchases throughout the day. I keep little ones like snack stands or merchandise for when we sit for a meal (QS or TS) or if we're waiting for a show, I pull it out and put them in google sheets that way I can check that the remaining balance listed on the last receipt matches what my google sheet is getting.
So I am not the only one in HUGE shock that @SouthFayetteFan has not always done a written tour plan?!?
Right??? I'm sure no one will be surprised I always have a written plan. Maybe not quite down to the minute always but usually a generic 'Fantasyland rides in AM, then hit first two FPs back to back with them being PP/Mine train, that kind of thing. Which direction we're moving next, etc.
Lol why would your order go to Florida
Ugh. I checked it on Friday because it was suppsoed to be delivered by USPS that day and the mail had already come... it said it was at the Pensacola processing center :confused3 I figured either they gave me the wrong tracking number, or put the wrong address... last night I was leaning towards wrong address as it was coming back. I'm shocked it says it left Pensacola at midnight on Saturday and got to DENVER at 10pm last night! I was sure it was going back to the Kohl's warehouse. It's gone Plainfield IN > Indianapolis > South Jersey > Pensacola > Wewahitchka FL > Pensacola > Denver.

I've never done a race, but I read plenty of reports on here and the busses at some resorts (specifically Pop in 2 reports) looked HORRIBLE! Busses showing up late, annoyed guests, etc.

I've been on a few trips where I forgot to pack my brush and had to make do with a flat regular 6 inch comb.....

It will be a Sat and we will be there at 630 am until about 230 or so...

Thanks for that. My daughter was talking about seeing Acorn Street in the Beacon Hill area. Will look into the T

Was thinking about using uber just figure it's much easier. Will definitely look into Faneuil Hall. Thanks for the link.
Getting in that early, I'd head over to little Italy and hit up Modern pastry or Mike's Pastry. You can see some awesome history over there and it's a short walk back towards the wharf and other parts of the freedom trail! You've got a great amount of time to see some of downtown!

I think I found an interesting 3x UR transaction on the CIP... Girl Scout cookies! I purchased online from a coworker once my card came and it is showing 3x in the UR portal coded as "office and shipping"

Oh man! I wish I had known this before! I already paid for all my girl scout cookies. I won't say how much I spent... just let it be known that it's in the name of empowering young women and not so that I can eat an obscene amount of thin mints.

Hi,
First time posting on this thread.
I've done the CC reward between my husband and I with the Southwest Visa a few times over the last 10 years, but I want to branch out since we are going on our first Royal Caribbean cruise to Alaska in June of 2020.

I was googling their reward card and from what I see they occasionally have a 60,000 bonus point sign up. Right now they only have a 10000 point sign up. Does this offer come around often? Trying to decide if I want to wait and see if it pops up.

Also we have never flown American Airlines, but are considering it for this trip. (we are flying from San Antonio to Seattle) Is there point reward system like Southwest? Do they have the larger sign up bonus a few times a year?

About carryons. Liquids are a problem for my family: 3 curly haired girls, one of them with eczema. We can make do with travel sized hair care for a short trip, but a week requires a full size bottle of conditioner and therefore checked baggage.
each of you can carry a qt size ziploc with smaller bottles inside, usually enough that way- I just split up the amt needed between small bottles and all of us traveling. I hate the hassle of checking luggage, it's not about saving $ for us either.

Dangreous...
@amalone1013 - that would basically describe what my plan was before :)

This new crazy version of me is planning by the minute including meals, snacks, and yes...bathrooms hahaha
Ok, I was super concerned that you had no spreadsheet at all :rotfl: I am called the bathroom nazi because apparently people feel pressured to use the bathroom by me... like if one person stops there is a good chance everyone in the group will go. I swear I'm not that bad!

DD flies out tomorrow for her study abroad and will not be back till July. She is still not all the way packed, her room is a disaster and I told her we are not leaving until it is somewhat clean. Ughhhhhh AND we have not bought her return ticket yet, which she needs before she gets on the plane tomorrow, because we are still confused on when exactly she can leave! Their semester dates are soooo weird. DH is panicking. I am strangely calm.

I"m behind, so you may have already figured this out, but when DD2 studied abroad in Australia (where she had to have her return ticket purchased before she left), we purchase (an expensive) fully refundable ticket and then when she knew her firm return date, we cancelled the refundable ticket and purchased her real ticket. Seemed to work pretty well, except I did feel a little guilty purchasing knowing I was 100% for sure going to not use it.

@amalone1013 - I bought one pair of Tieks years ago. I liked them but couldn’t bring myself to spend that much on travel shoes again. Plus the teal stripe on the back makes my OCD side twitchy. So I went on a mission to find the closest type of ballet flat to Tieks that I could at a reasonable price point. That was when I discovered the Me Too shoes at DSW. I bring the Me Too shoes on any trip that may require something other than sneakers or flip flops.

HAHA my family feels the need to ask me "do we have time to use the restroom?!" I will say of course, but always recommend the optimal restroom based on the touring plan. :thumbsup2

Also, PSA for anyone else cheap like me, Quart sized baggies are much bigger than sandwich baggies :) I didn't realize until I bought the full qt size recently how much more you can pack into one. If we're traveling together it's not a big deal as two sandwich baggies is enough for our stuff but when I'd go by myself for work I avoided checking a bag so I had to cram it all into one. There may have been tape involved a time or two :rolleyes1
