Had to get in on the hair talk
The first night in London of our 10 night trip, my friend took me to a drug store to buy a straightener. For her naturally extremely straight hair.I don't blame her a bit! Basically as a female I have checked bag needs. Hair, face, eyes (extra wetting solution), sunscreen, footwear. I cannot speak for every woman but I assure you my DH would agree that $50 is a small price to pay to avoid my distress if I don't have my stuff A certain person might have a reputation for her response in a certain hotel in Edinburgh when her luggage was lost and she was told "we have shops here you know."
I finally pitched these brushes I was hauling around last month. We used to straighten my hair before I found products that gave me happy curls vs book Hermione hair. And by we I mean basically my mom, who would blow dry it straight for me because that was faster and not as hard on my hair as using the straightener. I still had those brushes even though I only taught myself to blow dry it straight last month Part of teaching myself was tossing the old giant brushes that I couldn't use without knocking myself in the head, and getting a smaller brush. So now my 'occasional fancy hair styling kit' has my old $20 straightener from high school (for touchups... can't do without it for straightening), a curling iron (decent because it's a hand me down from my sister), a travel size dryer (because I never use a hair dryer other wise...), and the brush. And a travel size bottle of hair spray, because that only comes out for fancy occasions. Sometimes.DH always laughs at me because I frequently travel without bringing a hairbrush I also don't use conditioner in my hair, so I just put whatever shampoo the hotel provides in it and call it a day. Finger comb it and off I go. I owned a hair straightener at one time... I wonder where that is.
Investigating. I could never bring myself to spend that on Tieks so I gave up on fold-able flats. If I want shoes to dress up an outfit, I bring Tieks style ballet flats because they are travel friendly. Tieks are way too expensive as far as I'm concerned so I just want them to be flexible and fold-able like a pair of Tieks. Payless has a line of fold-able flats that are cute. My favorites are a brand I found at DSW called Me Too. These are fold-able, pack super easy, there are a lot of cute styles and they are pretty durable. I've have mine for years. The 3 pairs I have run small, so I did have to go up a full size.
I use a brush out of the shower. The end. I can usually go 3 days without washing my hair as long as I don't get gross from whatever I'm doing. I fix my part with my fingers in the morning. Used to drive my mom batty, but you can't brush curls!!!I don't own or use a brush either. If I did I'd look like I stuck my finger in a socket
DH sometimes jokes about me not brushing my hair everyday. I just tell him he's a boy and doesn't get it because he doesn't even use a comb. Just towel drys. That's not fair.I swore I could have written this. Sometimes I go out without brushing my hair my hair is naturally straight and pretty manageable though. SO on the other hand needs his hair to be perfect lol he combs his hair before and after a shower. And then just before walking out the door. if he didn’t pack his comb I think he would die. I don’t think he would use just any comb lol
This is a huge pet peeve of mine with Denver. I traveled out of DEN 2-3 times a year in college, always carry on only because that was when the checked bag fees started to hike up. So if they offered to gate check bags because of a full plane, I always volunteered. saved me from trying to wrestle it into an overhead bin. Drop on jetway, pick up on jetway, no wrestling, win-win. Well, ever since I started traveling with DH, they send everything at Denver to the stupid baggage claim Now we've been burned too many times (and we don't even check often to begin with - but I'm more okay with it going home since I figure I can live without lost luggage easier at home than on a trip). It saves time not getting bags from baggage claim, though we’ve had stuff taken at the plane we had to retrieve from baggage claim.
