to get out of town, until you were on the plane (cars dont count). ? I think about a month and half would be my quickest turnaround, but I want to be a 2-3 day guy

I plan way in advance. I would say 8-12 months for big trips (anything that would require me getting on a plane). Most road trips I still plan out at least a month.

A plane, yeah, probably about 4-6 weeks too. This past Sept we had airfare credit to use so we booked a weekend getaway to Nashville. Also planned a couple 3 day cruises in that same 4-6 weeks out (drove to port though).

ALso cruising, was a 2 day to nowhere out of MD (and we were living in MD at the time) that was planned last minute- like 5 days out (it was when hurricane hit NE and they had to dock ship and cancel 5 out of 7 days so they put out a last minute 2 day and we jumped on it).

But typically we plan 11-18 months out...lame, I know. I love the idea of last minute getaways. In fact, one of the 3 day cruises I planned it in like 5 weeks but didn't tell DH right away. It was for his birthday (and our Anniversary). I told him like 3 weeks out and he was NOT pleased. I would soooooo love it of he did that for me (but even waited until like 3 days out to tell me...3 days is good notice to clean, pack and kennel dog).

Oh gosh.....I am a planner, so it is usually at least 6 months....usually longer. I have all our vacations booked for 2019 and am planning 2020 now.

This is me to the letter!

wouldnt it be cool to be spur of the moment person (I wanna be like that)

Most recently, 7 weeks. Not by choice. We were ready to book 6 months in advance, I just didn't have my vacation approve yet.

30 years ago every trip was book 6 months to a year in advance. But in those days, vacation requests were processed in 24 hours after being submitted.

Two weeks. I found out that Angela Lansbury was going to be in her last US theatre show in Washington DC. It was our 25th wedding anniversary year, and we decided to splurge and hop a plane from Chicago to go to the show (Blythe Spirit by Noel Coward).

I bought premier tickets (5th row), hotel room, and plane tickets two weeks before the show. We had a great time -- totally worth it.

Under 24 hours. I was on maternity leave and found a good flight price to Florida for the next morning. Then I realized I didn't have any warm weather clothes for a 10 week old and had to scramble a bit.

yes I am, very cool
Oh, and one time my sister and I planned a trip from SF to Vegas to catch a Streisand show. Our mom was out that evening, but when she got home we said "We booked plane tickets to Vegas for the show. Leaving tomorrow, see the show that night, coming back next morning." It took her (mom) about 30 minutes to figure out she was included in "we".

LOL, what a great memory

Two weeks. Vegas. Truthfully though because of my business I have to plan all my trips on short notice usually 3 months or less.

1 day. My sisters friend gave her buddy passes for an airline on a Thursday, and we decided to go to Disney the next day for the weekend. We couldn’t get 2 nights in one hotel so we started at the beach club one night and the yacht club the other.
