Interesting DP. I'm not surprised you got charged the AU fee, just surprised that the AF would post on Feb 1 if you opened the original card in May and upgraded in Sept.

But then again, I was expecting DH's (upgraded in Dec) Marriott Premier AF to post on 2/1 (which is when the AF posted historically on the old Marriott) and it hasn't. Though he received a 35K night FN cert in Jan on his (original) card anniversary.

My CSR AF posted Feb 1 for $450. DH had been an AU until 4 months ago when I removed him, and I'm happy to see I wasn't charged for him being AU. When I added him as AU originally in 9/2017 the AU fee didn't show up until my Feb 1 '18 AF posted.
Yeah I think the timing is weird. I didn’t request nor desire the AU Card. It just showed up. I forgot I was an AU on DHs CSP I guess.

I got my Chase 1099 today. I had 2 CIP referrals..my DH and my DSIL. Value = $500? Plus $100 Disney. How do they come up with $500 for 2 CIP referrals?
The inconsistencies in these valuations are mind boggling!

Did you redeem those points through your CIP @ 1.25cpp? That math would work in theory but it doesn’t make sense to me. That’s my only guess though.

DISchurners NEWS thread update...
https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/aj6vx6/news_discussion_thread/

Huge thanks to @Lain and @gottalovepluto for keeping the news thread up to date while I was away last week. I will say that it was very easy for me to keep up with the MAJOR news stories through that. I honestly hadn't planned for it to benefit me personally when I created it, BUT it did :)

I think we'll try to keep that going as it could be a great resource for newer folks and those that can't keep up with the pace daily here. Some examples of major items recently include the 1099s going out from AMEX and Chase, Retention offers on Marriott CCs and many others.

DISchurners Disney World Thread and Question...
https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/comments/ai6lq0/dischurners_walt_disney_world_tips/

Reminder - we are still looking for more insight into various Disney World topics on this thread. Categories for discussion include:
  • Using Cash Back to offset costs
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards (URs)
  • AMEX Membership Rewards (MRs)
  • Citi Thank Points (TY)
  • AAdvantage Miles
  • Disney Gift Card discounts
  • Renting DVC points
  • Swan & Dolphin
  • Other Off-site Hotel recommendations and ideas
  • Citi Prestige 4th night free benefit
  • Using Bank Bonuses to offset costs
  • And a couple other topics not worth mentioning here
ALSO - there was some talk that people would like a touring plan recommendations thread where strategies could be shared and discussed. QUESTION: should this be a separate thread from the Disney World thread I just linked. The header of that thread does say "best tips on The Walt Disney World resort" so we could include touring plans as a category and keep all the discussion under that bullet OR I could create a separate thread. Open to suggestions from this group here :)

I think it makes sense to put the touring plans under the same thread, but I don't have a strong preference (same thread or new thread is fine with me).

I don’t know what a hard pull is. My Hilton biz was my first Amex card though.

First AmEx means they definitely did a hard pull. Which is an inquiry that shows up on your credit report and can affect your credit score (usually just temporarily). As opposed to a soft pull, which means they checked but it doesn't show up on your credit report.

Next time I’m in trouble meeting an MSR I’m getting “married”.

I wonder if I can do an anniversary gift registry! Or birthday?? I'm going to be resorting to paying the kids tuition with CC soon and that's at 2.85%.

Still no sign of Amex or Chase 1099s in informed delivery for me either. Neither of us have filed yet but I'd like to go ahead and do it soon since I think we've received everything else we're waiting on.
I’m jealous you’ve received all your forms. Neither DH nor I have received stuff from our employers.

Boy all this 1099 talk is really making me nervous... really hope mine isn’t screwed up from Chase and ends up costing me big time in taxes. I was planning to use this tax refund to pay off my student loan!

I agree it is making me nervous too. We are right on the edge of a higher tax bracket so if my minimal added income puts us in a higher tax bracket that will be bad. No 1099’s yet but sure they are coming. Maybe not from Chase but probably from Amex since they are sending it for everything. If I am going to get ones I hope they come soon. Depending on the impact I will definitely be on the side of the referrals not being worth it to me.

So strange. Mine matched up as
  • 3 CSRs = $300
  • 1 Freedom = $100
  • 1 Marriott = $200  Sure...
  • 1 SW Plus + $35 retention credit = $135
  • 1 SW Biz $100 retention credit = $100

I think I’ve transferred them all to my CSR. One click was in December, so I didn’t even transfer them until January.

Oh well. My taxes are very complex anyway. I’ll have my CPA deal with it!

It's making me nervous too. It sounds like they aren't even getting the numbers right and this is going to be a pain. Still nothing here in CA.

Like others, I've got a Chase 1099 in my mail according to Informed Delivery. Can't wait to see what amount it is for. Not!

And I just SM'd chase to cancel my Marriott Biz. I noticed the AF hit my account sometime since Friday when I last checked my Chase account. Then I checked my Bonvoy (such a bad name!) account and see a new annual night cert in there. I'm not interested in retaining the card for a $90 credit that will likely be taxed, especially since my free night has posted. But I do think I'll have a use for this one cert if I can find a hotel I can use it at in Memphis. We'll be traveling to Ole Miss to see Cal play there in Sept. We've got two nights booked in Oxford around the actual game, but SW doesn't fly out of Memphis on Sundays, so I'm thinking we'll spend Sun. night in Memphis and fly out Monday morning. SW definitely has the best routes in terms of connections and elapsed time. It's also cheaper, plus we'll have DH's CP.

While far from the most exciting stadium in the SEC, Ole Miss is like no other place in the country. Tailgating in the South is unreal anyway, but The Grove is tailgating to the 10th power! You are about to experience a taste of the true South.

With the game being on 9/21, likely to get a healthy dose of Southern weather as well, but it will likely be a night game. Those are spectacular in the SEC, but tough on visiting fans. Enjoy the trip,

DH had the HH offer on his Amex plat today for 1000MR->2600 HH pts so I cashed in 21,000 MR for HH today. That gives me enough pts added with what I already had to finish off our 6 nights in Tucson plus 1 night in early March for a college piano audition for my son. Can’t believe it’s time for him to go to college! He turns 18 next week. My ambitious, hard-working, Disney-loving, musician son. :goodvibes

has anyone from MD gotten at 1099 from Chase? just wondering if I should be getting one. none are showing on my account but never know with chase. only referrals I have are from DH's apps so it won't be much
I haven’t received anything from Chase or AmEx but only had one CIP referral and a self-referral from the Plat to Biz Gold. But we already owe a ton in tax so I will be extremely happy not to get another 1099.

Yeah I’ve been 1cpp with Chase no matter how I redeemed as well.

Imho we’re looking at two scenarios
1) Chase screwed up a few people’s 1099s overvauling or miscalculating or whatever
2) Chase screwed up a ton of people’s by undervaluing

I hope (and suspect tbh) it’s 2.

Speaking of 1099s... has anyone received any from Fidelity for the $200 bank account bonus most of us did early in 2018? I always get a 1099 for my bank bonuses but this one hasn't shown up.

Also, I got my DVC membership number today!!!
No, have you checked the DoC page on the bonus? Being a brokerage account they might not send them. And I have no clue why but that’s a thing
