We are sort of borderline then. Both boys like legos still. They have just turned 9 and 11 in a couple weeks.
Check it out a bit online and see what you think. Don’t let me tell you they wouldn’t enjoy it :)

I think it’s a great 1 or 2 day destination for most kids but not for an entire trip. The time we went, we did a day there and a night at MVMCP on a long weekend trip.

I think you are close. We went two years in a row when my kids were between 7-11. I think most say the sweet spot is 7-10. Our kids were huge into Legos so just seeing all the displays was pretty cool. All the kids enjoyed the rides and it was so nice to be able to say yes when they wanted to ride again.
Maybe we will pop over there sometime this year since we have multiple MCO trips planned. I love that free kid ticket deal posted upthread.

I agree with this. Also not very fair to the poor either if you have to have a smartphone to get the app to get the discount to begin with.

I bought a Crock Pot pressure cooker today at Kohl's ($50 cheaper than Instant Pot) - I used my Kohl's pay to get the 20% + $10 off $50 coupon and at the register you have to scan a QR code on the check out screen through the app and wait for it to validate on the clerk's screen. Not very intuitive (or fast) and you had to understand how to jump through a lot of hoops to get the sale.

Now the issue is I have to actually learn how to use this pressure cooker and not be terrified of it!
I love my insta pot. I haven't blown up the house yet! Lol.

We use it a ton though. I haven't been as good about being ready so I can use the crock pot to cook all day, so the instant pot is good for that. I want to try it's slow cook function sometime to see if DH and I could get by on that while it's just us, to try and lessen the number of gadgets (tho DH now wants an airfryer, and we got one for his grandma for Christmas so that doesnt help lol). I use the instant pot a lot for rice too, bc I cant cook rice on the stove to save my life. Also make beans, a big batch and then freeze. Have some one pot recipes we like too. Use it a lot for chicken that then gets shredded with the stand mixer. I've seen some people say they think the chicken is rubbery from it, I think someone here too? Weve always shredded it and I haven't noticed anything really, but again I've never done just chicken breasts to eat whole. We got grandma one a couple years ago and DHs aunt one for Christmas. They like to do baked potatoes in them also. I've always got a list of meals to try going!

That is definitely the plan - I will be doing a daily check, haha!
I did that for Hyatt Vancouver. Never opened up post cruise (still 99 days away) but I found the pre cruise stay for Friday-Monday then called and had them cancel Friday to make it Saturday-Monday. I couldn’t get the Saturday any other way.

What is the total credit limit/% income ratio that throws alarm bells at Chase? I'm trying to figure out if we need to reduce some credit limits for DH before applying for both SW Busn and personal. Do they look at both Busn and personal together?

So I was at > 75% with no issues getting approvals but I did get the 30 day message on cip and cic initially. I cut those back and was approved for ciu and cip automatically at about 30% and 35%, respectively.

I think I was at 60% when Chase gave me my first ever instant approval with a 24k credit line :rotfl2:

Oh, rice on the stove is one of my specialties. We eat a ton of rice with DH being Asian.

Equal parts rice and water, toss in an extra 1/2 of cup of water, bring to boil. Once the majority of the water has evaporated, cover with a lid, turn to Low and steam for 20 min. Fluff with a fork and partake.

I then freeze the leftovers to make fried rice since it is supposed to be better to use frozen rice than fresh for fried rice. No idea why though.

Yeah DH kind of wants and air fryer too. We have a big kitchen but I don't like a lot of "stuff" on the countertops. I've already got my big Kitchen Aid mixer, now the pressure cooker, a single serve coffee pot and bread box. I guess I would store the air fryer away unless being used, but still. I'm a minimalist so extra stuff makes me nervous, lol.

I'm a vegetarian but DH certainly loves chicken and we got the cooker for him to make chicken more quickly so I hope it isn't rubbery!

To keep it topic here, I need to plan out my meals in the morning and then go buy my groceries with my Amex gold for 4x the MR points. And I'm signing for Ebates for the MR too. I am a true new member to them!

Green Hills is very nice. Not somewhere one can live with children unless they want to spend $25k/year on private school though. :(

I believe it! When he first started looking at this college I was like...hmmm I wonder how much houses are going for in that area. Uh no. No houses will be bought in that area. By us anyway. Lol

I just read the entire product manual for this pressure cooker. I may make DH set it up. I don't want to blow up the house!
Instant Pot is both slow cooker and pressure cooker and also a rice cooker. I have one plus 3 slow cookers. The Instant Pot is pretty fool proof. I’m not even sure you could blow it up if you tried. It’s not scary like the old fashioned ones (my mom’s scared the heck out of me). I pick and choose between Instnat Pot and slow cooker based on what I’m cooking. I don’t always like the texture of things pressure cooked. And I refuse to cook chicken breast in either slow cooker or pressure cooker because it always tastes dried out to me.

@Lain I just did your suggestion of this morning as to where I am at with Amex and referred myself and was approved for quite possibly one of the lamest cards ever...the Amex Biz Green. With my BGR referral bonus though and then if I could eventually get the pay over time option it does help. So now I know Amex does not hate me (yet) and don’t have to worry about meeting a spend. I guess I will just get it, make a spend, add it to the random rotation in my little Amex wallet, and hope in another month or two when I go for the BBP it is as easy as this was.

What do you all think about the idea of getting my husband the Biz Green? If he gets the pop up now after a period of increased spending then I know that there really is no immediate hope for him in Amex’s eyes and will free me up to just put his cards away completely unless there is a good offer. If I put in for it and do get the pop up and say I want to continue then it is only one spend and the 5,000 MR’s right? So not a big deal but assuming he was approved and they just didn’t deny him then I should still get the referral of 20k?

I just don’t want to be in the position of putting the spend on a card and then no bonus posting. I have gone through that and it is insanity inducing. I would like him to have another Amex Biz (or since he is 2/24 another personal even) but the thought of putting 3k to 5k on it and getting nothing for it is horrible. Talk about sick dysfunctional relationships that Amex has put us in...

@Lain - thanks for your help. DH tried setting up another account, but Ebates wants access to our AMEX account (username and password LOL) so that's a dealbreaker for DH. He's big on security and this is way over the line.

I cooked rice on the stovetop for years, no problem. Then someone gave me a rice cooker, which I thought was silly. When we remodeled our kitchen, I had no choice & used nothing but small electric appliances for 6 weeks. Slow cooker, rice cooker, electric frying pan, toaster oven. Once our kitchen was done, never went back to making rice on stovetop. It frees up an extra burner and I’m frequently using 2-3 burners or using 2 large sauté pans that block the rear burners, making them useless. I can tell DS9 to make the rice while I cook dinner, easy peasy.

@SouthFayetteFan I referred dd to Raise (dh already has an account) and made a purchase with the $5. She got an email saying if she makes a second purchase in the next 72 hours, she will get a $10 coupon off a future purchase. Is that right? make a second purchase with no coupon to get the next $10 coupon?

What is a good age for LL? I think we may have missed the window.

We were going to go to LL last summer but decided to go to SW instead. My boys are almost 8 and 10. They both still love Lego’s and I think would really enjoy LL. We may try to fit that into our FLtrip this summer.

Maybe we will pop over there sometime this year since we have multiple MCO trips planned. I love that free kid ticket deal posted upthread.

We went to LL last year for a day. DD5 and DS7 really enjoyed it. Most rides had short lines and the rides were tame enough for them. I was able to buy a promo code from ebay (for $10 or $20?) and was able to get tickets for 2 adults, 2 children for $150 total. It seemed like a great deal!

Did the tickets code as a travel charge? If so, and they did last summer, you can go into the rewards tab and click to redeem for travel. You should be able to choose the purchase that qualifies.

I use the Arrival+ a lot - but the rewards do seem to post slowly. But they will post.

Also, when you make an early payment to Barclay's it doesn't just make your balance smaller. It sort of adds the amount you paid to the current balance but it all works out when the payment due date rolls around. It's bizarro town.

Thanks to both of you. Yes, the charge shows as eligible to redeem for travel, which we did, it's just that so far the statement credit isn't showing. Hopefully it just takes some time like @GlamMistress explained.

I did the PNC bonus. I got a 1099 for the interest but not the bonus, which I thought was strange. Anyhow, the TIN is 22-1146430.
Thank you!

Can't help with the TIN since I only made a couple bucks interest, but it was reported that PNC was considering the bonus misc income instead of interest so if it was under the 1099MISC limit of $600 they aren't issuing the 1099. So can just use whatever you find online.
Well, maybe we shouldn't have claimed it then! Oh well, better safe than sorry! Federal return has been submitted and already accepted! Now to obsessively check for our refund.

I was going to say my DH is Asian and we definitely use a rice cooker every time we make rice. We have two actually - a large family rice cooker, and a small one we bought for vacation for DD (white rice and soy sauce is one of the few things she'll eat) but we have ended up using at home also since it cooks in 15 minutes instead of 30. And it's super cute :) I'll have to try freezing rice for fried rice. I've heard of putting it in the fridge to dry it out some, but never tried freezing. Thanks for the tip!

haha... more abuse time... thanks for the info.
