I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

With utilities that charge a flat fee it makes sense to pay a large amount. I pay water, electric & gas in 1-2 payments each year, thus only paying the $4.50 or $1.95 CC charge once (vs. paying it monthly if I did it that way).

With my cable bill, this is a 5x UR play. I know I'm going to pay $1,500 the rest of the year. Why not just earn 5x URs on my CIC now. Then I won't have that bill to deal with the rest of the year either.

It is kind of funny to hear coworkers talk about bills though because I can't identify at all. They have like a dozen monthly bills and I'm thinking I pay maybe 20 bills a year, LOL!

I actually love it, haha. I just like not having to pay any bills monthly :)

My prepayment on my electric bill just got used up this month. I owed them 4.15. It's a great feeling not to have a bill coming, even if I did give them 6 months worth of my money in payment up front. I have no msr right now so will pay monthly until I need to use it for a spend. Also, having my DVC paid up is great, plus I've collected more than half for next year in gift cards.

So, I really want this 80k Delta Biz plat. I am maxed out at 5 branded cards, but my Delta Gold has been open for a year as of this weekend. Fee has not posted yet though, my statement looks to close around the 21st. Do I wait it out and then close and apply for the new? Do I apply for the new now, knowing I won't get it, but when I call them, ask if I can close the Gold to make room (this happened with my BBP and it worked out)? I could really use that $100 Delta credit like ASAP, so I'm itchy. And I have taxes to pay, they can wait until 4/15 obviously, and I can just pay for what I need to with Delta now and save a $100 gift card for a later time if necessary.
To reply to my own post LOL, I applied, had to call, they closed the gold and the Platinum is on it's way :-). Can't get DH out of popup land, but Delta likes me LOL. This is the biggest MSR I have had, but in looking at air lately, a big stockpile of Delta miles is really great for us, since we are a hub and the best flights from here are on Delta. Couldn't really pass up 90k (80K SUB and 10k referral.)

Son and I may take a trip to San Francisco to see some baseball games this summer. Any suggestions for hotels near Oracle Park that aren't crazy expensive? Last spring we did the same thing in San Diego and didn't rent a car, just took public transportation everywhere, and loved it. Any chance of doing that in SF too?
Thank you!

@SBWB48 made a similar trip to SF last year that included a ballgame at AT&T (now Oracle Park). I believe she stayed at the Hyatt Regency near the Embarcadero or the Hyatt Centric at Fisherman's Wharf. If you have the UR points, transferring them to Hyatt can be a great deal! However, note that many of Hyatt's hotels will be going up in award categories on 3/18/19, including the Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf (from Category 4 15k/night to Category 5 20k/night) -- so if you have dates in mind, book before then if you can. The Hyatt Regency (along with other Hyatts in the city) is already Category 5 20k/night and isn't changing. These two hotels are right along the Embarcadero, which runs along the city's eastern shoreline up against the Bay. From these hotels, you can easily walk to and catch the E-Embarcadero Line streetcar from Fisherman's Wharf or the Ferry Building down to Oracle Park, or the F-Line streetcar up and down the Embarcadero between Market Street and Fisherman's Wharf, or from the Hyatt Regency take the T-Third underground MUNI from Market Street to the ballpark. Uber and Lyft are also readily available, so there's no need to rent a car.

If you need more suggestions, let me know!

For the AT&T amex offer, does the account balance need to be at $0 for it to work? My friend is ready to try it but 1) I want to hear if @CaliforniaGirl09 gets her credit and 2) I want to make sure how this works! I understand just pay $175 and wait a few days to see if it credits but just not sure how it works if there is a balance due...?

Thanks Lain! Awesome, as always. I really appreciate it.

@SouthFayetteFan - what was the rule of thumb about how long to wait to apply for a new card after closing the same card product?

I’m inclined to suggest @StephPlum should wait 30 days after closing her CIP#1 before applying for CIP#2 to avoid the possibility of Chase reopening CIP#1. Then assuming your CLs look good and it’s been at least 3 months since you opened a card that Chase can “see,” apply for CIP#2 using DH’s link. Am I totally off here?

I wouldn’t worry too much about having closed CIP#1. Chase is not Amex, and they don’t really seem to care about opening and closing cards. My DW closed her CIP#1 in 10/18 when her second year AF posted, and her last Ink card was approved in 12/18 before CIP#2 today.

I found that thread but it’s mostly discussing that you have to wait 3 days after a PC to reapply for that same card (ie if you PC a CSP to CF you can’t reapply for CSP for 3 days).

I bet it’s fine to reapply within a week of cancelling (heck it may be fine within 2-3 days). Some of the “rules” we abide by are moreso guidelines that aren’t founded in any truth haha. I think the 30 day rule may be one of them. I’ve never seen an actual DP of somebody’s cancelled Chase card being reopened.

You have convinced me to go for it before it goes away like 3x plastiq. Couple of things that will impact timing - 1) need to do before I cancel DH CIP on the anniversary. 2) MSR - right now in the middle of Delta Biz (2K in 3 mo and another 1K in 6 mo for 75K miles) and just started DH CIU (3K). I don't want to have too many going at once and the CIP is at 5K. I was going to go for a CIU next but I might as well try for the CIP. I am at 3/24 with the last Chase app in Jan for a SW Plus. So if DH's CIP anniversary is April, that would work out timing wise. Off to check on CLs. I was dropping them right after MSRs were met and I didn't use the card as much but I think I'd better check on them.

This is speculation only since both of my $175 payments were made when our account had a $0 balance, but if there is an amount due, I would think the $175 would be applied first toward the amount currently owed and any leftover would be a credit sitting on the account (like my two times $175 are now).

I'd love to prepay my utilities but electric only will allow up to the bill amount. Gas would have to be through plastiq as they do not take any CC. I did prepay the newspaper for a year. I know I am old school and probably one of the few who still get a physical newspaper. It is only for weekends.

Hi...since you have the CIP..you can only refer your DH to the same card...the CIP....you’d get 20kURs for the referral and he gets the 80k sign up bonus

If your interested in opening the CSR or CSP...or both with the MDD.....do so just in your name or your DH name...if you add each other as AUs it added to your 5/24 count.

I'm not the OP, but I sent my husband a referral email this weekend from the CIP, and the email hasn't come through to his account yet. Does it usually take awhile? TIA!

WWYD DH and I will both be 4/24 end of month. Both in good positions to apply for CIP #2. I have 2 chase biz, he has one. Would you play it safe and just apply him since I house all URs? Or apply me since I’ve had more mileage with Chase? Or throw caution to the wind and both apply???

Well Barclays Aviator Business...way to make the activation process terrible. This won't make me feel bad at all about spending $1,001 and taking your points!! :) :) It took me 30 minutes to just activate two cards and get online access, crazy! :badpc::badpc:

FYI: for anybody grabbing this card, you can't access it from your existing Barclay logins at all. You go to AviatorBusinessCard.com which seems like some shady website, lol! (It is apparently legit though as I was able to add my card to Mint)

Had the same issue with my jetblue business card you have to register it on jetblue businesscard.com and they don’t make it remotely clear how to do it!!!!

That website is sooo sketchy

If you can meet the 10k MSR at the same time I’d go for both....with reducing CLs if needed and I’m assuming since you were 5/24 your over 3 months from your last Chase card...
But lol probably shouldn’t assume
