2 years ago, someone recommended an auto broker to us when we needed a car. We gave him what we needed, what we wanted to spend, put down, and it had to have room for 6. Within a day he came back with a better price than what we wanted PLUS he brought the paperwork and the car to our house! Maybe see if you can find someone in your area. My understanding is the dealerships pay him so no OOP for you and he is independent so he doesn’t exclusively work with one car brand.
What a great idea. My grandpa had a good friend who's son opened a used car dealership, and he was always really nice about working with my grandparents when they were car shopping. He'd get an idea of what kind of car/colors/features they were looking for and then watch the auctions for something. That's also how my parents ended up with the Camry I had that got set on fire. I never thought of there being people out there that do that for you, basically...

Finally got a flight home tomorrow instead of Monday! Took several calls totaling about three hours all from SW canceling my original flight. They won’t offer any compensation and had the nerve to tell me they at least canceled it more than 5 days out so I could adjust my plans. ***! I think next time I am just going to play the game against them and book an extra flight in case they do this crap again since you can cancel up until an hour before...

That’s interesting. Would find it hard to believe someone like that exists around here. Not exactly in a metropolitan area. But my problem is not knowing what I want. After over 18 years in a minivan, I’m finding it hard to let go. I don’t understand the minivan hate. It is so much more practical than SUVs. But with 2 in college and 1 left at home for just one more year I don’t really need a minivan anymore. But really having a hard time with getting a 5 seater because to me that means no more family driving vacations. Which we do a lot. I could rent if we needed, but that can be a pain for last minute getaways. Which we do. Ughhhh. I can’t make a decision!!! My minivan is having issues and DH said no more $$ into it as it is over 10 years old now. Plus it is horrendous in the snow here. We have gotten stuck multiple times in it. So I think I’m looking for a awd suv. But I really don’t like SUVs. I think the actual buying once I know what I want is the easy part.

Me too! I always say you can take the girl out of Texas...of course I’m craving steak fajitas but it’s Friday so it will be a no meat quesadilla and guac. Which is also delicious!

My ex is older than I am by quite a bit and all alone so I suspect I’ll be more involved with his care in the future than I want to be so I can spare my DD the stress. Parenting can be hard.
Mmm, now you gots me cravin!

Helping your ex with his care makes you a good person and an even better mother. I’m sure your dd will appreciate all of that one day!

I'm with you, I would miss my Odyssey so much. It's 12 years old and I hope to still have it for some time. I love how much can fit in it. We go to Costco and don't have to worry about if there's space in the back. I can fold down the 3rd row, remove 2nd row seats if needed, no need to rent a truck to pick up something big. DH drives an AWD Ford Escape and its cargo area is so teeny tiny it's embarrassing. Forget about going on a road trip in that car! I look at sedans and SUVs now, and I'm like, yeah but can you bring home a 75" flat screen TV? I don't think so lol! DH thinks I should get a new car now, then we can hand it down to DD when she gets to driving, but that would mean giving up the minivan and that makes me sad, I'm not ready.

I just logged in to our Marriott account and noticed that one of the rooms we have reserved jumped from 35K/night to 50K/night... WTH? I thought that you were looked in if you made reservations before the point change?

Mine for Chicago is all screwed up. I booked in December. It was a 25,000 point/night property. It's now 35,000. I applied a 25,000 point free night certificate and should have a 35,000 certificate before my state from my spg biz anniversary. Now it says it's 70,000 points. I'm on the phone with Bonvoy as we speak.

Did you pay the 35k at the time of reservation or was it a points advance? If you paid it already then I didn't think it'd even show the higher fee so there must be a glitch going on (shocking) If it was a points advance you'd have to call in to have the eCert issued at the previous rate. They are supposed to be honoring the previous rates for point advance bookings but it takes extra legwork to make it happen it seems.

It is a point advance reservation. We plan on using DH’s 4 CC certificates (only have 1). I’ll call when I have all the certificates.

Does this help?

3/14/19 - @miztressuz shares method to get Marriott to honor previously lower points pricing on points advance reservations made before the recent category changes.

I'm hoping Hyatt honors the lower points booking when I ask them to modify a reservation for next year. Booked the Hyatt House Anaheim for 12,000 points prior to 3/18/19 when this particular property went up to 15,000 points. My dates however are not certain so I will need to modify my booking. When I recently looked at my reservation (2 nights), it's showing that my booking is for 30,000 points instead of the 24,000 I redeemed. I'll keep everyone posted.

I'm kind of amazed how small the cargo areas on some SUVs are now. I feel like I can fit more in the trunk of my Camry  When DH has his Fusion still, and he'd be like this is Ford's midsize just like yours, I was always like, then how is it possible that my back seat and trunk feel/fit more than yours?

Oh my gosh, you are making me sad again to get rid of it. Lol. Then I have to remind myself every winter I hate it. But I lived with it for 18 winters, I can probably survive a few more. The Escape is one DH told me to look into. I have a whole chart of various suvs and cargo space. Lol. Basically what I am basing my decision on right now. I had Kia Sorento in my mind for awhile as it has the additional seats. But with the additional seats, that my DS would not fit in, I think we could each pack a tooth pick. :rotfl2:

LOL, The Escape isn't huge, but it's not super tiny either. My Edge was bigger, but the Escape can hold at least some stuff. Now my Kia Soul...
