New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

So you're saying inagural merch is still available for the first year?

We were able to get merch that said something like "Inaugural Year" well after the first sailings on both the Dream and Fantasy. It's just Maiden Voyage branded merch that is only available on those specific cruises.

Considering that were almost half way through 2019 and the first new ship is suppose to be complete by 2021, when will they start building the ship? Any guesses?

About a year from now to lay the keel. Takes about 18-months for keel-laying until launch.

For those that have been saying that Triton is the name of the new ship, or at least the class, based on information from non-DCL sources, I have found a reason that it makes more sense as a project name. The first ship ever built at Meyer-Werft Shipyard was named Triton: https://www.meyerwerft.de/en/meyerwerft_de/werft/unternehmensgeschichte/triton/triton.jsp. Meyer-Wreft is where Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy were built, and the next three will be built.

Considering everything points to a January 2022 Maiden Voyage, id say they will lay the keel by August of this year

That's never worked for me.

It's never not worked for me - this thread immediately showed up in my watched thread list after I posted (I also only ever follow by having it in my list - if you want email updates, you'd have to change things in your watched thread list).

In all fairness, while a "watched" thread does send emails, often there are posts that are not emailed and are emailed after I've already read them. It's a weird system, but I just take it to mean I should come to the forum and look at the thread.

It would be a 2021 maiden. Unless theres a slip in the MW timeline. Based on past hx, assuming a Feb 2021 maiden First steel should be cut in July of this year. If the maiden is later like Nov 21, first steel would be May of 2020.

Last update I saw, the ship immediately infront of the DCL Newbuild, has her first steel cut, and the ship in front of her is already being built.

i got 2022 date from Disney Cruise line blog in that when i pulled up Disney Cruise Ship number 5 i found this "During a June 2018 Port Canaveral meeting, it was mentioned a third Disney Cruise ship would homeport at Port Canaveral beginning January 2022."

It is possible they were hedging their bets waiting for a clear timeline from Meyer-Werft or to account for any possible delays along the line. That or things may changed. Based on MW's normal build timelines and the currently available schedule for the shipyard, 2021 is far more likely at this point. When exactly in 2021 is still up in the air.

I hadn't looked at Scott's blog recently. But I think I can see where some confusion comes in.

So we can look at this 2 ways. 1 is the new build 5, is slated to join the fleet say 2022 in January like posted on the dclblog. For argument sake well say DCL Triton joins the Dream and Fantasy. This to me doesnt seem likely as mw is moving right along on their ships, and since the DCL 5 is next in line, it would mean almost a year of inactivity for mw. At the very least a slowdown, since P&O next ship will probably follow the NB5 if they swap places.

Option 2 and I think this is the more likely. New build 5 debuts either early 2021 like Jan or Feb of 21 which is traditional for DCL, or possibly as late as fall of 21, which was mentioned by the port, possibly confusing float out date with debut. with 1 of the Dream.class moving to Miami to satisfy the port contract there, with 1 of the Magic class being the 3rd ship in PC in 2022 or possibly NB6. Usually though I would expect 2 NBs at PC with either of the Magic class being the 3rd ship seasonally.

I had it laid out 1 day based on contracts, but off the top of my head I dont remember. I'll try and pull it off my laptop if I can revive it.

yeah i think i can see that since Odyssey just had her keel laid, Aida skipped in front of Disney and has there 2nd ship of the Helios class scheduled for delivery in spring 2021, which would mean a fall to winter delivery for Disney Ship number 5.

I just checked Meyer Werft's order book and the 1st DCL ship is now listed as Winter 2021 from what was previously Spring 2021 if I recall correctly. I had a copy of the order book saved previously but cannot find it right at the moment.

Any speculation on potential themed restaurants for the new ships? I’m just off the Magic and we were blown away by Rapunzel’s. The theming, entertainment, character interaction and food were all top notch. Between that restaurant and Tianas, I prefer the restaurants on the magic class hands down. Though I do prefer the dream class overall.

It got me thinking if Disney would do any character themed restaurants for the new ships and what they could be. My husband and I hypothesized something like be our guest (obviously the ship would not have a lumieres) or even something frozen related (knowing bob iger).
