A Tipsy Tenth Dining Adventure - Completed 9/28

Drinks It Had to be Drinks

We were headed back to the Springs this evening for dinner at a place we were excited to get back to. But first we drink.

We were a little early so we stopped by Jock Lindsey’s

Cause when you can drink inside a diving bell, you don’t miss that chance.

But be careful when it starts to submerge!

Ok enough shenanigans we were here for the drinks.

Casey, inspired by our seating selection, went with the Diving Bell.

This is Lemonade and Watermelon topped with a Lemon-Lime Foam. It was sickeningly sweet which did nothing but guarantee Casey loved it.

Jason, inspired by Steve (aka Mr. @ariane37 ), went with their Air Pirates Mule which is Knob Creek Disney Select Single Barrel Reserve Bourbon and fresh Lime Juice topped with Fever-Tree Ginger Beer.

My notes say this was “nasty” but I hate bourbon. And just like with Casey, my hatred of this guaranteed that Jason loved it.

I was inspired by nothing but Happy Hour pricing and went with the Reggie’s Revenge with Florida Cane 'Orlando Orange' Vodka, Midori Melon Liqueur, White Cranberry Juice, and fresh Lime Juice.

I generally steer clear from blue or green drinks, but this was better than I expected it to be. It was definitely a bit too sweet for me, but the flavors were good and boy was it potent!

For round 2 Jason stuck with his mule but I mixed it up and ordered the special “Winter Refresher” with Gin, Lemon Juice, Hibiscus Syrup, and a Sage Leaf.

This was ridiculously sized for $12.50 (this was before I even took a drink) but very tasty.

It was just about time for our dinner so we bid Jock’s goodbye. We’ve yet to try any food here but this is a great place to grab a drink in Disney Springs. I haven’t seen Raiders of the Lost Ark in like 20 years so the themeing is lost on me, but who doesn’t want to drink in a diving bell. With our tables in wonderland card we saved $12.80.

Continued in next post....

Ribs and Rangoon-gasms and Rice, Oh My

Two mixed drinks in on a relatively empty stomach for me is a sure fire sign that some tipsy notes are about to be laid down. But where were we going?

MORIMOTO ASIA!!

Jason and I had eaten at the bar one solo night when Disney still had the child care centers (yes still bitter, “thanks” again Disney). We loved it and were excited to share it with our little sushi lover.

We were seated right away and I’d forgotten how beautiful this restaurant is. It may even rival Flying Fish for the top honor.

Our server – Jesus – was our best of the trip and gifted Casey with a special drink.

Per my notes this was lemonade with boba balls and “fern” tea. Unless drinking ferns is now a thing I’m gonna go with it was green tea.

I was done with the mixed drinks so I settled on a Kirin Ichiban draft, which is one of my favorite beers.

Jason got some kind of IPA that I’m sure he liked and I hated.

With such a large menu we decided we would each pick two items and share everything.

Up first we have a Jason pick, the Shisito Peppers which are flash fried with yuzu sea salt and wasabi crème fraîche.

My notes: “Peppers mostly not hot bread a few were creamy sauce with wasabi help cut through good accompaniment but don’t want by self as good appertid”

Translation: Not sure why I thought this was bread, but these weren’t as spicy as I expected them to be but the wasabi sauce added some good heat. I wouldn’t want to eat this by itself but it’s a good app. They were even Casey approved!

Casey’s convinced us that two sushi rolls really was just one order so she picked the California Roll - blue crab meat, avocado, cucumber – and the Spider roll – and tempura soft shell crab, spicy mayo, & asparagus.

The spider roll was typical sushi, but good (no translation needed on that one) but as for the California Roll.

My notes: Good kick better than inositol cram
Translation: It had a good spice to it and the real crab was way better than the imitation stuff. Speaking of way better, I think Casey's far off model stare is really getting good :P

Casey’s other pick was the Morimoto Spare Ribs with are pork ribs, cilantro, and hoisin sweet chili glaze.

My notes: amazingribs best ever had tender and. Risky and love sweet sauce

Translation: These are no risky ribs, they are amazing and the best I’ve ever had. I mean ribs are already good, but then fry them and toss them with a sweet chili glaze, yes, please, and thank you! They are simultaneously crispy, tender, and the sweet sauce is delicious.

For my picks first up we have the Kanikama Rangoon which is krab meat (not the real stuff this time around) and cream cheese spring roll with an apricot sweet chili sauce.

My notes: cross between rangoosnsns and spring roll love sauce much better than typical ones more xo pleat creamy and crabby
Translation: These things can cause a serious Rangoon-gasm. They are a cross between a typical crab rangoon and a spring roll and are simultaneously crispy and crabby. The sweet chili was much better than a typical one with the addition of the apricot. I got nothing on “more xo pleat” but really who doesn’t love a good pleat?

I also picked the Pork Dumplings with pork, napa cabbage, and scallions.

My notes: Dumplings could have used more but Jason describe wrapped as ethereal as it stood up to meat ina wY that most just over power need 10 more
Translation: I never met a dumpling I didn’t love and my only complaint was I needed like ten times more. Jason actually called these ethereal as the actual wrap stood up really well to the meat, where most of the time it is just overpowered.

And the piece de resitance of our entire meal, the Morimoto Buri-Bop which is a korean-style yellowtail rice bowl served in a hot clay pot, finished with egg yolk, and prepared tableside.

My notes: Vito boo amazing cook in front of u mushrooms if good flavor from iron Chex 450 defeee bowl mix everything up tuna cook on outside cold but could have done wjrvohr rice is Star love Charles bits from tsk hit part pour sauce on top

Translation: “Vito Boo” is one of the best rice dishes we have ever had, despite having mushrooms in it. A chef cooked it right at the table in a 450 degree clay pot and she explained that this is a dish Morimoto had made on an episode of Iron Chef. The tuna was slightly cold still, despite being cooked at 450 degrees, but honestly this dish doesn’t even need the tuna. The real star is the rice which gets almost burnt in the pot so you have these amazing crispy rice bits. 6 months on I don’t recall what the sauce was, but apparently it was amazing too. From this dish it was evident why he’s an Iron Chef!!!

And I couldn’t forget that during our meal Casey traded in food modeling for some utensil modeling

#Chopsticks

#Chork (a chopsticks/fork combo they gave her that was everything)

In case it isn’t evident between the Rangoon-gasms, Vito Boo, and Risky Ribs this was a tremendous meal. Casey rated it a 10,000 out of 10 which is clearly saying a lot. Our server was fantastic, the food all delicious, and ribs and a rice dish that all others will now be judged against. My only complaint was how fast the food came out. I like a long leisurely meal and everything was on our table within 15 minutes of ordering. Next time we’ll space it out so this doesn’t happen. With our tables in wonderland card we saved $30.20.

And from these awesome notes, any guesses on what we did the rest of the night???

Uber back deuces from Venezuela went they epxog parking big sweet

Casey don’t really get cupcakes Jason like his cookie one Casey cook marchmelllow

Me banana very moist but not as much banana dlacs as like but very good

Figure this should help.

Up next, 9 days of birthday fun finally gets to my girl and like any responsible parent we just drink our way through it

I think this is why I love it so much.

OMG! I am craving these. I had them for the first time in June and I can't wait to have them again...

Oho! I would drink my way through anything, so another point for you!!! 😜

We've gotten the ribs at Morimoto St. Food and they are insanely good. Then we went to Jock's for some drinks...great minds! You can't help but make nom-nom noises! We have one afternoon at DS and the kids were so bummed when I told them that the meal at Homecoming will be too filling for a rib stop. They're calling me, though!

They are insanely good. I love a rib, but had never tasted one fried so this was next level!

I mean who are we kidding I pretty much do that too, but she is rarely moody but when she is look out world!!!

Oh I had no idea they had the ribs at the counter service. That could be very dangerous as the family would want to go to Sprinkles for dessert and I may just sneak over for some ribs for one.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just get all of the dishes we like in one restaurant in Disney Springs instead of having to go to multiple ones? I'd be eating ribs, and homecoming chicken biscuits, and Raglan Road scallops, and and and and and!!!

I haven't been to either Jock's or Morimoto. Looking forward to changing that on an upcoming trip. I keep hearing amazing things about those ribs.
Morimoto especially I think would be right up your alley. Its a great place to get a couple of dishes and try several things. The sushi is pretty pedestrian, but everything else is worth checking out.

I keep meaning to go to Morimoto. It looks amazing and like y'all had a great time!
It is amazing!!!! I'm hoping we get back there next month.

I love those ribs and the crab Rangoon sounds delicious!

We definitely have to get back to Morimoto.

Awesome interpretation of your tipsy notes!
Morimoto really is great. I'm not sure why we don't go there more often!

At this point in my life I have a PhD in my tipsy notes otherwise we'd all be in trouble

Oh I had no idea they had the ribs at the counter service. That could be very dangerous as the family would want to go to Sprinkles for dessert and I may just sneak over for some ribs for one.
Oh yes. 3 for $10, which is outrageous in the real world but totally reasonable at WDW and less per rib than inside. The egg rolls are a little elevated compared to any I've ever had, too. Wish they still served the pork belly bao! They moved that item to inside-only a couple of years ago. CS even serves Kirin draft. It's caaaalllliing yoouuu ::yes:: ...or me. It's calling someone!

The dumplings and the Buri-Bop look so delicious! I have heard a lot of great things about Morimoto, I need to put it on our list to try next trip!

oooohhh we ate at Morimoto's on our Feb trip and I got the ribs and they were DELISH!!! Trying to decide if it will make our dinner list in June 2020!!

Love your tipsy reports!!

While we were waiting for the rain to stop we saw a woman change her kids diaper right on the table in the restaurant with no changing pad or anything

What on earth. Ew.

We ended up on the best safari we have ever taken. There were animals all over the road in the elephant area so we ended up taking another route through the savanna to try and get around it. Instead we found ourselves right in the middle of the action and I don’t think we’ve ever been this close to the animals before.

Wow that's awesome!

This would have been perfect had we not encountered the rudest waiter ever.

Oh no.

he literally just said “Decide?” and when we apparently didn’t respond quick enough for him he said “well is someone going to say it.”

What on earth. I don't think I could not say something.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Love it.

I was angling for my favorite Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake, but I was overruled by the revolutionists angling for a hei hei cone.

Terrible treason.

Cause when you can drink inside a diving bell, you don’t miss that chance.

Good rule.

This was ridiculously sized for $12.50 (this was before I even took a drink) but very tasty.

Wow that's a small drink.

Per my notes this was lemonade with boba balls and “fern” tea. Unless drinking ferns is now a thing I’m gonna go with it was green tea.

:rotfl2:

Casey’s other pick was the Morimoto Spare Ribs with are pork ribs, cilantro, and hoisin sweet chili glaze.

Ugh I wish I had those now!

A chef cooked it right at the table in a 450 degree clay pot and she explained that this is a dish Morimoto had made on an episode of Iron Chef.

Wow! I need to try this.

Looks like her modeling has a fan!

But first we drink.
Excellent decision.

Unless drinking ferns is now a thing I’m gonna go with it was green tea.
Ferns are green, so you weren't wrong to begin with :rolleyes1

Casey’s convinced us that two sushi rolls really was just one order so she picked the California Roll - blue crab meat, avocado, cucumber – and the Spider roll – and tempura soft shell crab, spicy mayo, & asparagus.
That Casey sure is a smart one ::yes:: And with a more refined palate than most adults

Translation: These are no risky ribs
I love it when the risk is taken out of the meat. Everyone wins.

I got nothing on “more xo pleat” but really who doesn’t love a good pleat?
I've yet to meet that person, and sincerely hope I never do.

Aside from the food rush, what an absolutely perfect meal! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh, I'll have to show Nathan your review of Moritmoto Asia! He's already excited that we're finally planning to go, and this will blow him away. Sounds like your meal was fantastic!

Uber back deuces from Venezuela went they epxog parking big sweet
Uber driver from Venezuela went to Epcot for sweet treats ( maybe, possibly- I need to drink wine and then I’m sure your notes will make perfect sense :rotfl: ).
Casey don’t really get cupcakes Jason like his cookie one Casey cook marchmelllow
Casey isn’t fussed on cupcakes so she took marshmallow instead. Jason like his :)
Me banana very moist but not as much banana dlacs as like but very good
Your banana cupcake was lovely and moist but you’d have liked more banana slices ( am I even close :confused3).
Up next, 9 days of birthday fun finally gets to my girl and like any responsible parent we just drink our way through it
Sounds like the only thing to do! My eldest is 29, next is 21 and youngest is 12 years- we’ve been having teenage tantrums for 2 DECADES! This is possibly why I love a good G&T and a decent bottle of red wine (in emergencies a cheap bottle does the job :drinking1:rotfl:).

Love your updates as always. Morimoto looks stunning. Totally gives Flying Fish a run for its money and hey if the ribs aren’t risky- well what’s not to love :thumbsup2

Wow, that is a great deal. I had no idea this was even a thing. And couple that with Kirin? Its not just calling me I feel the force :D

The dumplings and the Buri-Bop look so delicious! I have heard a lot of great things about Morimoto, I need to put it on our list to try next trip!
They were both so good. We just made plans to go back on our trip next month and I am so excited!!!

oooohhh we ate at Morimoto's on our Feb trip and I got the ribs and they were DELISH!!! Trying to decide if it will make our dinner list in June 2020!!
Those ribs are so good I have a hard time imagining any trip without them.

Terrible treason.
Tar and feather them both!

Wow that's a small drink.
Small, minuscule, non existent, all good words for the ridiculous size of this thing

Ugh I wish I had those now!
You and me both!

Looks like her modeling has a fan!
I hadn't even noticed that, but she always loves an audience!

Ferns are green, so you weren't wrong to begin with :rolleyes1
Plus I of course am never wrong :P

That Casey sure is a smart one ::yes:: And with a more refined palate than most adults
More refined than me that is for sure! She'll tell you the only food she won't eat is escargot. My list is infinitely longer.

I've yet to meet that person, and sincerely hope I never do.
I except to see you in pleats next month!

LOVE your Morimoto Asia review! I'm making reservations now for our upcoming trip in 2 days :)
Woohoo!!! Have a great trip. We'll be there again next month too

Oh my gosh, I'll have to show Nathan your review of Moritmoto Asia! He's already excited that we're finally planning to go, and this will blow him away. Sounds like your meal was fantastic!
It so was! I love Asian food anyway, but this really was delicious and interesting twists on everything.

Uber driver from Venezuela went to Epcot for sweet treats ( maybe, possibly- I need to drink wine and then I’m sure your notes will make perfect sense :rotfl: ).
Man you are pretty good. Yes our uber drive was from Venezuela, she took a wrong turn and we drove through the epcot parking lot, but she was sweet

Casey isn’t fussed on cupcakes so she took marshmallow instead. Jason like his :)
You're hired! Outside of marshmallow and Jason liking his I had nothing on this

Your banana cupcake was lovely and moist but you’d have liked more banana slices ( am I even close :confused3).
Oh so close. Sub in more banana flavor for slices and winner winner chicken dinner

I have no idea how anyone handles anything more than 1 child. Love mine but not even sure I'm ready for the one decade of teenager that is coming in front of me.

Love your updates as always. Morimoto looks stunning. Totally gives Flying Fish a run for its money and hey if the ribs aren’t risky- well what’s not to love :thumbsup2
One should also love anything risky!!!

Parenting 101 in action. :)

Looking forward to the next installment.
