I am confused....I thought that it was only worth while to do it with the CIC for the 5x points or another card if you are trying to meet MSR.

Yeah it is but since I was already there and I they would only let me do more than one with another card I figured I might as well get another 200 points for no cost. It’s not much but it’s better than nothing. I’m going to bring my freedom unlimited and BBP so at least tomorrow it will be 300 and 400 points for no cost.

Some advice please!
I would like to book 2 nights at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort for July 2020. Bookings are currently only available on points through June. I have 2 35k free night certs. Is there anything I can do to try to book these before peak/off-peak pricing takes effect 9/14? I’m thinking no, and that maybe I should go ahead and book 2 nights at the Four Points by Sheraton Anaheim as a back-up – does that seem like a good plan? My certs actually expire 5/2/20 and 6/25/20, but if I call and ask they will most likely extend them and let me book July, is that right?

Also, my mom has approx. 100k Marriott points she offered to give me to use for the trip, can I book using her points and just be on the reservation and be fine to check in? I’m wondering if I should go ahead and make a reservation now using those points also. If I booked the Four Points which is 25k points, I could actually get the 5th night free and have our whole one week stay covered. Hmm, maybe I should just go with the Four Points instead.

Sorry, I’m kind of rambling but typing this all out is helping me think through this.

Anyone stayed at either of these resorts? Is the Fairfield Inn a lot closer than the Four Points? I’d really like for us to be within walking distance this time. On the Marriott site it lists the Fairfield as .2 miles from DLR, and the Four Points as .4 miles away. Thanks so much for any feedback!

WN is the IATA code for Southwest. Like DL for Delta or UA for United.

Because urban legends are always fun. I was super curious why WN for Southwest.

“Supposedly, Southwest did attempt to negotiate with Air Namibia (originally called South West Air Transport) to get the “SW” identifier, but Air Namibia basically responded “Not for sale at any
price.” Actually, as I recall, Air Namibia demanded an unrealistic price for the code and wouldn’t budge.”

Sorry to clog the thread with another Delta Vacations post, but I just got off the phone with Disney and wanted to update for anyone considering doing this for 2020 or 2021 tickets. I spoke with the ticketing person, and she said you can apply the value of unused, expired tickets to any ticket of an equal or higher value. So, you could purchase 3 day flex passes that expire in 2020, let them expire, then convert them to date based 6 or 7 day tickets in 2021. You can do this over the phone ahead of time.

Interestingly, she also said you could call to convert any unused current ticket to any higher value current ticket. So, you could also take a 3 day flex ticket that expires in 2020, call the ticketing department, and convert it to a 6 or 7 day date based ticket for dates in 2020 (before ticket expiration). That's not something I would need, but might be of use to others on the board who are looking to purchase single 2020 tickets. It means you could buy shorter flex tickets from Delta, then convert them to longer date-based tickets.

I never got time yesterday to look at Delta packages so I'm figuring out the final tweaks now so I can get this booked later.

@kidsfirsttrip Do I have this right, if I want to use the travel voucher for Dec 12-16, I need to book for another 4 nights somewhere around there so that pricing would be similar? If I put in Dec 11-15, there are 15 Disney resorts but half that number show up for Dec 12-16. Pricing is slightly different too, of course.

My plan is book 1 person on a flight from ALT-MCO and a wdw room. Add the travel insurance. Cancel the booking. Then use the travel voucher to rebook the resort. Question is how long til we get the vouchers? If that has been answered already, I apologize. Last two days have been too busy to read here much :( I saw chatter about one week but wasn't sure if that was a guess or confirmed somewhere.

This is very helpful for solving the fastpass problem (and I guess not surprising that Disney would let you pay them more money sooner for tickets to use later).

@Lain and (any others who might know), you mentioned the CSR gives you status at some car rental companies. Do you have to do anything to get the status or just book using the CSR? I hardly ever rent cars but will be at the end of September in CA, so I'm looking into my options.
Thanks.
If you happen to have Marriot gold status, you can get a status match at a couple of places. I did it after the merger because I ended up with gold status.

Do you mean the SW thing? I saw DPs up to just over $100. I bought a ticket around $140 (legitimately needed a ticket and wasn't for credit) just to see if it worked, and it didn't.

I have seen several DPs of under $100 working though.

I was seeing how with Delta and AA people were having luck buying airfare and using a GC for part and getting the Amex credit to kick in on the rest.

And just like that, my last baby is a teenager. ❤️ She actually turns 13 tomorrow. And also one of my big issues with planning vacations right now. Does anyone else stop traveling when you have an elderly pet? She doesn’t get around very well, so I don’t want to board her. I have no family close by to watch. Our last few pet sitters have gone off to college. I honestly thought she was not going to make it for us to get back from Yellowstone in July, I was having horrible guilt feelings for thinking DD was going to have to deal with it by herself while we were gone. But she is doing much better now. Sometimes feeling too well, I let her out yesterday and heard my neighbor say Good morning Cujo after she barked her head off at him. She is a cranky old lady, and doesn’t really like new people so I would not feel comfortable leaving her with just anyone.

So the fact that you're asking the question tells me that you've probably experienced issues with that popup. I have - it's annoying and sometimes glitchy. It used to cause HUGE issues with gift cards too requiring hours on the phone to get things fixed.

So to avoid this ... I started adding 10 years to her birthdate. I've been doing this for over a year on multiple flights and never had an issue, LOL. I figured if it ever caused an issue I'd just claim it was a typo and I always had a copy of her birth cert with me. But I never ended up having any issues.
Thanks! My friend did when she was trying to purchase tickets for her family. I believe her daughter is 11. I guess 12 must be ok since I didn’t get any type of pop up when I had booked DS12’s in June separately.

I had told her just to book the other 3 she needed together since she was going for the best price anyhow so she wouldn’t later be monkeying around with it later.

This is something I think about often, and our dog is still fairly young. My mom has a 13 year old dachshund and she is traveling quite a bit, but if I'm home then I take care of him, or my best friend takes care of him. They're totally a part of the family!

Mom won't go without buddy so whenever we go it's somewhere we can take the dogs. No one to watch them both and buddy, while not as bad as he used to be, doesn't like when she leaves.
