And just like that, my last baby is a teenager. ❤ She actually turns 13 tomorrow. And also one of my big issues with planning vacations right now. Does anyone else stop traveling when you have an elderly pet? She doesn’t get around very well, so I don’t want to board her. I have no family close by to watch. Our last few pet sitters have gone off to college. I honestly thought she was not going to make it for us to get back from Yellowstone in July, I was having horrible guilt feelings for thinking DD was going to have to deal with it by herself while we were gone. But she is doing much better now. Sometimes feeling too well, I let her out yesterday and heard my neighbor say Good morning Cujo after she barked her head off at him. She is a cranky old lady, and doesn’t really like new people so I would not feel comfortable leaving her with just anyone.
This is why DS is not getting the cute little pug puppy he really, really wants. (But asks for a daily basis.)

This is the hurricane that just won’t die! Back to a Cat3! I get that it’s just a technicality that the winds went up 5mph but it’s still just wild to me that we are STILL watching this storm!!

The hurricane is already wreaking terror on my beaches! I saw Emerald Isle was hit with tornadoes this morning, and there's a rumor it'll come ashore at Atlantic Beach. I've been looking at property there now for awhile. UGH.

My work schedule is :badpc: I'm looking at it trying to give away some hours and there just aren't that many options for the next two weeks. I can (hopefully) cut 4 hours next week, and then the only other option is to basically trade my day off on Mon 9/16 for either 9/10, 9/11, or 9/12. We leave for our HHN trip late on 9/18. So I can either cut 12 hours total for next week, giving me a slightly more manageable amount of hours, and work 9/16, or cut 4 hours this week and still have a billion hours but have a whole day off just before the trip for errands/packing/laundry. I'm leaning towards the second option as I think that day will be better overall, but it doesn't make me happy.

Also my plan for today's downtime at work was to work on my resume; instead I've been trying to work out a London trip :rolleyes1

This is something I think about often, and our dog is still fairly young. My mom has a 13 year old dachshund and she is traveling quite a bit, but if I'm home then I take care of him, or my best friend takes care of him. They're totally a part of the family!

My beloved Cookie will be 7 at the end of this month and she has a congenital heart condition which gave her a life expectancy of 2-6 years so...she's past elderly, in a way. That said, I spend a lot of quality time with her when I'm home and when I'm gone, if something sad happened, I know we spent wonderful times together. Otherwise I'd never leave the house, lol.

Non-Disney resort. I am speaking to a rep and she said they get the docs from Disney and then send, which doesn't sound like how it worked for you. The document department closes at 4:30pm EST. She really doesn't know and is connecting me to a supervisor.

Do the kids have to be strong swimmers? Mine are only so-so.
Mine were teens at the time. It is DEEP water when you go in by the dolphins. You’ll have to see what the conditions are like. When mine were little, we actually had them snorkel with life vests so they were more comfortable.

If you happen to have Marriot gold status, you can get a status match at a couple of places. I did it after the merger because I ended up with gold status.
I'll have to look into this as I just got Marriott gold this year and probably won't happen again soon

Same! I broke down and filled out the PAPER direct deposit change form that my behind the times Fortune 100 company still uses, and FAXED it in. Surprisingly the change occurred for the very next paycheck so I’ve now met the DD requirement with an actual payroll DD. First time I’ve ever changed my actual DD for a bank bonus. Then I immediately faxed in a new form to update it back to my usual bank.

Here’s a fun status match story. My Amex Plat gives Gold status with Hilton. I didn’t think much of it but when we were in Vegas at the Waldorf Astoria we received upgraded rooms as well as $50 resort credit per night. Definitely worth it!

I then used that gold status to do a temporary gold match with AA. It will expire before we fly but it allowed me to pick elite member economy seats for no charge on our award booking for next July.

I keep seeing all these Stacey posts and do a double take as it’s my real first name (spelled the same and all!!). I thought I was just really popular this morning! :flower3:

Wait? You used your Hilton Gold status to get gold on AA? I'm diamond Hilton right now, and gold AA, but that was a promo that will expire. I'd love to keep it (without meeting it from flights, LOL).

I had a coworker tell me at lunch today that she and her husband are leaving in the morning to go to Myrtle Beach for vacation... I was like "uhhh, no, I don't think you are..."

Mom won't go without buddy so whenever we go it's somewhere we can take the dogs. No one to watch them both and buddy, while not as bad as he used to be, doesn't like when she leaves.

I’ve had my little puppy (yes, I still call her a puppy) since I was in HS. She is now just over the age of 10 and it breaks my heart when I have to leave her. If I am traveling with friends, my family will watch her, but if I travel with family, there isn’t anyone I trust enough so I leave her with my vet. I feel she is safest there because they know all of her issues (picky eater, special RX diet, and skin allergies she takes monthly shots for). Thankfully they have never had to call me while away so fingers crossed it will be ok again in October. I agree with @tink1970... My puppy is SO spoiled. I know I treat her well. If something were to happen I would be extremely upset, but I know I did everything I could for her 😌

Not that I can think of. It’s still unchartered territory for us all. I did read about a fee if you cancel the hotel when it’s less than 30 days so I’d say the “sweet” spot is 30-60 days from now to get ur tix right away. And yes the tickets said right on them can be redeemed for higher price tix. Since your canceling in 24 hours you could risk the insurance part but it wouldn’t guarantee you had your tickets yet so I saw it was a safety net too. Still a great deal.

https://www.disboards.com/threads/i...t-page-for-addl-details.3729982/post-61035893You can get the package and base it on the number of points you want to the voucher to be for. So if you want to voucher to be for 6K, book at 6K package and spend 300K SkyMiles.

I have been pondering this for 24 hours and thought of more questions. Since it is DDs nap time, I'm back to ask and get the ball rolling here.
I don't have a concrete set of dates, but I plan to do the cancel in 24 hours trick to use the voucher for resort only anyways. I want to convert all 142k MRs to this voucher. That gives me about $2800 to spend. Does the voucher have to be applied all at once or could I use that over 2 trips? Maybe I need to book 2 different trips at $1400 each instead? But what if I then end up with a trip that is $3k and I want to apply both vouchers to it...is that allowed?

All the Delta talk is REALLY intriguing me because I want to stay at BC in the spring and I do not have a discount for it yet LOL I only have 105,000 MRs so at most that would be 210,000 SkyMiles and the room I want is $2,347 on the Delta website so it probably won't work. Hoping I can accumulate more MRs and another promo is released in the future!

Couldn't you do the cancel trick to get the voucher for $2100 and pay the last little bit outright?

I’m pretty sure they say the life vests are mandatory during the dolphin swim so there is no issue with people diving and getting injured. I’m under the impression that is more of a floating and watching time.

HAHA I just got that e-mail and saw "Bonvoy" so I archived it. Should I actually look at it? I see "business" in the link.

It’s not a bad way to start earning some Marriott points. 100k Marriott points for $5k MSR is the highest offer on the Bonvoy/SPG Biz since the merger (although the 75k Marriott points for $3k MSR offer comes with lower spend). The Biz also has the benefit of earning 4x Marriott on gas, dining, and wireless telephone services (but you may not want to switch your cell phone bill from the CIP and lose the insurance protection). The rest of the benefits are snoozers; you already get Marriott Gold Elite status, for whatever it’s worth, through your Platinum, which is > than the Silver status offered by this card. But, remember the survey I took, Amex may be considering changes to the benefits on this card that might make it worthwhile to spend on. Unfortunately, the AF is now $125 and not waived, and you’ll need to renew a second year if you want that 35k FN cert, again for whatever it’s worth after peak pricing kicks in this month.

Since this is a public offer, it should be available via support link — if not already, then soon. But since this is also a new, elevated campaign, the Amex pop up may be all over this card like it was for the Hilton Biz and Surpass recently, particularly if applying via support link. You may want to keep that email handy in case you have more luck with applying through that channel.
