Speedo okay in Rainforest Room?

I was traveling on business in France once and my coworker got kicked out of the hotel pool for wearing swimming trunks. Yes, he is a man. They told him he had to wear a speedo. Not kidding.

We are quite the prudes in comparison to some of our European cousins. :rotfl2:

Lol, quite the prudes compared to most of the world. Never forget my first trip to the beach in Australia.

yep sluggos (speedos) are our national outfit at beach!!!!!

but I can't see the difference between speedos and bikinis

but the Mediterranean - whoa!!!!

Wear that Speedo! :cool1:

I grew up European, but I live in America. I could never understand the American avoidance of a Speedo. After all, American women wear swimsuits that aren't hanging all around our bodies (like the preferred American swim trunks for men), we have no place to hide our parts! That one-piece swimsuit still outlines every part of the woman, no hiding the fat roll or abundant parts! We aren't as lucky as men to hide behind yards of fabric, no, we are on display!

I figure most women are self-concious in a swimsuit, no matter how fit we are nor covered we are. I think men should feel the same.:thumbsup2 Throw on those Speedos men, feel like every eye is judging you, feel what a woman feels, and then go have fun!

Life is too short to not enjoy a bit of Speedo fun!

Two men were walking on the beach in speedos. One man was getting ooohs and ahhhhs from the women. The man that wasn't getting the attention asked his friend. "Hey, how come all these women are fawning all over you on the beach", to which his friend replied "Easy, potato in the Speedo man!"

Well the next day, the guys were walking down the beach again, and the women were running away screaming. "I don't get it, I used the potato as you suggested!" remarked the previously ignored man. His friend replied:

"Dude, the potato is suppose to be in the front".

...in the front...

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

A picture would help with this decision!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

LOL, a few people seeing me in the Rainforest Room is a little different than the entire DIS family! But if you say please.... j/k
I love that you are going right along with our good-natured teasing! LOL

I say wear it if you want to wear it! It's not breaking any rules. You might get funny looks from some people, but I wouldn't worry about it. We saw a heck of a lot of speedos at Blizzard Beach in September. I joked with DH that next year I am making sure I take some of those mirrored sunglasses so nobody knows where I'm looking. :3dglasses

Kind of OT, but I'll never forget my first experience at a sauna at a hotel in Germany. I walked into a room of buck-naked people.

I backed out with a shocked "Ep!"

I could just imagine them shaking their heads muttering "Americans!"

I didn't realize that was true for Japanese bathhouses. I was 16, in Japan with my aunt and wore a cute Japanese robe provided by the hotel. Walked in the "spa" and walked right back out. hehehehe. :lmao:

I see no issue with it, though I do hope you are not the 70 year old man in the commercials.;)

I agree with this 100%. The male body is just as fabulous (or not!) as the female body. The double standard needs to go.

As a woman, I'll help out by wearing my speedo too! Though maybe only in St Martin... ;)

I went to the spa at Caesars in Las Vegas with a group of women. I was in the lead and walk head long into the mens side (and no, I didn't notice the big "M" next to that door!), I did the same as you and walked right back out!

The last time my family visited Disney World we saw men all over the place wearing speedos at Blizzard Beach. When my family visited Fire Island a couple of years ago I was teasing my husband because he was the only man there not wearing a speedo. I honestly wouldn't think anything of it if I saw a man in a speedo in a spa.

Edited to add: When my family was living in Germany we stayed at a hotel once that had an indoor pool area with an ice cream place attached to it. When we walked in there was an entire family sitting together naked, eating ice cream. Let's just say once you've seen naked Oma and Opa sharing a banana split it takes a lot to shock you.

:rotfl: That really must have been something!

I swim laps at a local pool and wear jammers. The jammers cut as much as 4 seconds off a 100 yd swim. When you are swimming 2,000 yds, this is significant. I have worn various styles and colors.....but learned long ago to NEVER wear white jammers.

However, when I go to the beach or am just hanging out at the pool, I wear baggies like most guys.

Wear it. Last time I was there about 25% of folks had swim briefs and ladies had thongs. Of course all the out of shape traditional people had to stair in jealousy. Be happy. Look good for us

As a 30 year old male, will I get any funny looks in the Rainforest room if I wear a speedo? I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable, but at the spa the less clothes the better, right?
As long as you have the body to pull it off!

Funny that this thread got resurrected - it is 7 years old! Th OP and his speedo are long gone from the cruise.
It's the downside of the Dis, at the bottom of certain browsers you see suggestions for other topics. The system doesn't make a difference if this suggestion is 1 week or 10 years old.
On the other hand, this topic could be one that can be resurrected from time to time, as it is something people ask about as there are different ways to enjoy Rainforest Room-type spas.

See it as questions about the dresscodes and formal nights. We get those often enough. ;-)

As long as it fits and no... Hair or other items are escaping I don't see why you wouldn't wear it. Another option could be the shorts style Speedos that go down alittle on the thigh (boy shorts)?.
