READ POST 1 & 2 FIRST-Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Planning and Information-*No Spoilers*

Based on what I've seen so far, the current boarding group process obliterates any rope drop advantage at DHS. Until recently, it was possible to hit the rest of the park and get multiple rides in on ToT, RnRC, ST, TSM, or AS2 while most of the crowd headed to SDD or MFSR. Now nearly everything shoots up to a 60+ min wait right after opening. I haven't seen much on how to adjust park strategy (especially if you're not riding RotR), but agree that a nighttime approach might work best at DHS. I thought that the park was still busy but manageable in the evenings last week. You know it's crazy when there are CMs outside midday holding signs for 40-90 minute waits to build a droid or buy a lightsaber at Ondar's.

And while the VQ is not intended to be permanent, I do wonder how long it'll go - we still see crazy RD crowds for SDD (18 months) and FoP (2.5years) well after they opened and long lines that persist through the day. Don't see that changing anytime soon for RotR either (or expect that MMRR will balance it out all that much).

I am glad to see, however, the BG times last longer this morning and extend the opportunity to join.
I'm trying to figure out how to plan. From this thread it sounds like HS is deadlocked at 6-7AM. My original plan was to take my 8yo son, uber to the park half an hour or more before open, get on a boarding group, and I figured I'd have the next 2 hrs or so to hit a lot of rides. Hopefully get on Smuggers run first thing, then hit some other things like toy story, RNRcoaster, TOT. get out of the park before lunch, hit the pool. come back with a FP for SDD and fireworks.

If its packed that early, I really don't know how to tour this park. FPs with 1 tier suck. Most rides IMHO are not worth 1hr + wait each. I'd do Smugglers run for an hour, but thats about it.
we're going president's week, so it is a generally high crowd day no matter what.

Today (Monday 1/6) is still busy because Orange Country (Orlando) schools and Osceola (Kissimmee) schools are still out and they have lifted the annual pass blackouts

Can someone please tell what Disney Touring Plans has for a crowd level number for HS on Friday, January 24th? I know technically this is the start of Pro Bowl weekend, but I’m wondering if it will even have any impact on crowd levels. Thanks!!!!

Level 5

I’d suggest those wanting Touring Plans crowd prediction data sign up for a subscription on their site. Sharing information that is on the paid side of TPs site on occasion in forums such as this is totally fine, but it is a paid service so I’d just ask we be a little judicious in how it is used.

I’m a subscriber, not because I use any of their services, but I appreciate their historical park hour and event information, which can sometimes be handy. It’s a very low cost for 12 months.

They do have free crowd rankings for some dates on the free side of their site, FWIW.

Thank you.

There is a crowd level meter? What are they and what do you expect it to be the Sunday & Monday of MLK weekend?

I don't think I'm supposed to reference them here. But if you search WDW crowd calendars there are quite a few. I use a paid subscription.

sorry about that

sorry about that

No need to apologize, it’s all good. There is no problem throwing an occasional “they had it at a 10” post here and there.

Having seen many threads over the years, sometimes one post becomes 20 “can you tell me the crowd level on x/x/xx?” posts....and that’s where things get a little grey, which is more of the framework for the request.

Apologies. It’s the first time I have heard of a crowd level meter & didn’t realise it was a subscription type of thing.

Touring Plans is generally the most mentioned “crowd calendar” and is what most reference when you see people say “it was a 5 crowd day” or something similar. They are one of the few sites that puts out prediction rankings but then goes back and provides “what they saw” rankings for that day based on actual wait times. Accuracy and reliability of their information is a topic for other threads, but their “1-10” methodology sometimes provides the framework for crowd discussion around places like the DIS.

Anyways, they have your days as 9’s, FWIW (which isn’t surprising given the holiday weekend).

(But my personal opinion, don’t read much into actual numbers or crowd rankings. A good plan always trumps crowd conditions, whatever they turn out to be.)
