News Round Up 2020

yeah, but DISCOUNT!!!!!!!

Does go to show that always best to book as early as you can as prices will go up and hoping for a future discount might not help vs the original price you could have booked at to start with

Its all about Justifying the cost, but but I saved x amount off the listed price. Very few uninformed people know they raised the rack rate that much. Just like very few people know you could save even more by looking at other onsite options from other places. Renting DVC always tends to be cheaper then booking directly from Disney, heck even going through priceline at times can save you a pretty penny. At the end of the day its more about ease of use than actually how much you can save for some people. The "discount" is really just justification for spending the amount you spend. For people who going to Disney isnt a real dent to there annual spending, any bit of "discount magic" can help with the justification and reasons to keep coming back

agreed. Plus for people that were contemplating a trip anyway, this might "push them over the edge" and convince them to book now

I wonder how many people have dropped considering booking a trip at all since Monday. It is going to be hard for at least the next few weeks to get people to book travel that would take place over the next six months. If I wouldn't have already rented a DVC for September, I would be rethinking setting anything into stone right now.

yeah, that is a fair point - or even people cancelling trips so now they have a number of rooms that were booked and now open.

I am not one to not go to places unless a concrete conern/warning - but at the same time if I was thinking of booking now I might wait a week or two just to see how things develop... could go from "vague concern for travel in general" to something much more concrete and specific to WDW in that time

I know everyone always wants to super serious reasons for everything ... but it might simply be this has been the plan for a while and perhaps they were worried about it leaking out so they got ahead of it or another firm was courting Chapek so they went ahead with it now.
The former maker more sense than the latter.

If I was booking a regular Disney package, I personally would probably book right now if I already had not. You still have plenty of time to get your package completely refunded if things change dramatically.

Ehh I have a trip end of March Early April and I am not even worried. I dont want Covid 19 to make a big splash in the US but even if it did as long as WDW was still open I would prob go.

We’re the same time frame and I am concerned, but we are on rented DVC points and stand to lose a very large chunk of money if we don’t go. Plus ticket complications and the sadness of missing a Disney trip of course. We’re in wait and see mode. Also concerned about the flu and general nastiness since people are selfish and won’t miss out on park time if sick. If we had a Disney package and could push a trip out I probably would. If nothing else maybe ROTR gets easier, lol.

We are Canadian and my biggest concern at the moment is flying through the Toronto airport, TBH. Sorry that’s veering OT.
