Great Movie Ride closes for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway

Watched some of the POV videos (because we have no idea when we're going back) and it seems a bit chaotic. I can't tell if it's that the people filming the ride are trying to show a too much at once or if the ride doesn't guide focus to specific places.
Anyone who has been through have feedback?

I've heard this thematic discipline point of view for a few days now. While I agree it's not perfectly linear, the attraction as a whole is magnificent. This is the type of ride to sit back, enjoy the characters and the introduction (pre-show) before embarking on a whimsical adventure.

I was incredibly apprehensive and was looking for faults/flaws and can't find any (sans it wasn't longer). It completely encapsulated me in a classic Disney experience. I feel like I've just got done reading the last paragraph of a novel that is wholesome, warm and tucked me into bed for the night; it is that great!

I've watched a few videos on this ride. Looks pretty fun. Not nearly as fun as the GMR. But, that's likely a minority opinion.

One weird thing I noticed is that, when Goofy opens the rear window of the Engine, the screen doesn't fill up the entire space. Anyone else notice that? Seems like a pretty glaring mistake.

Nice to see the ride clock in at just over 4.5 minutes. I remember when I first went on the SDMT and the River Ride at Pandora and how disappointed that they both clocked in at just over 1 minute. If you are going to wait an insane amount of time, at least you will get a ride that you can take some time to enjoy.

I think the Pandora river ride is about 12-15 minutes.

Edit, FEELS like 12-15 minutes.

Navi River Journey is longer than a minute...

I can't wait to ride this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I'm one of the people who couldn't stand The Great Movie Ride. The live actors, ugh, so cringey, we hated it! :rotfl:

When the River Ride first opened, I clocked it on my first ride and it took 1 minute and 15 seconds. My understanding from others I have talked with that they have slowed it down so it takes longer. I am good with that as there is so much to take in that slowing down is a good idea.

I rode it opening weekend and that was not the case. I’m sure I can find a video from the opening as well.

It seemed we went from one scene to another quickly- reminded me of the scene changes in Soarin’! The only Storyline was the train cars broke away in a cartoon so we could wind up anywhere- in a tornado, the desert, etc.
It does seem a little chaotic (by design) but watching the POV videos it seems like the scenes transition and flow together pretty well, considering the varying areas. Park into tunnel/cave, Carnival-tornado comes through-takes you to a river-leads to waterfall that goes underwater-water spills out into sewers which leads into city where the dance hall and factory are located.
The only bits that stand out are the western scene doesn't really fit in with the others with any sort of transition, and then change of the transition of the factory into a park is very random to me as well. Other than that I thought they did the transitions between scenes really well.

I’m glad I had a FP for Navi River journey because I’d never wait longer than like 15 minutes for that ride. It’s not great at all.

So funny. I love that ride. Wish it was longer! Looking forward to riding again.

Looking forward to this attraction, I really like the old school animation style it uses.

I think everyone one who says they should have left GMR alone forgets that the MGM contracts on those movies had expired so Disney was not allowed to show those IPs in a park. Had the Fox deal moved faster I think they could have redone it but I think more people would hate an update than a new ride. As for fitting DHS MMRR definitely does since you're at the premier of a new Mickey short and the adventure happens

But think what they could have done with a Fox version of the ride? The ride just needing updating, not replacing.

True but the timeline is the issue. They still haven't completed the merger yet and the TCM movie contracts ran out in 2017. The ride was going to be shut down either way at least now we have something there
