Things that might go away after

Yes PLEASE make this go away! I have a nasal problem and allergies. So I'm always having a slight runny nose. After doing things like touching the "community pen" at banks or for sign in sheets, and especially after shaking hands, I have to wash mine before I blow my nose. Even before all this, for the last 8 months or so, I've been telling people who want to shake my hand, "Sorry, I just blew my nose," and show them the tissue in my hand or pocket. I then say, "It's allergies, nothing contagious, but still. . "

Their response is: :crazy2: and they thank me for protecting them. Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "No, I actually did it to protect ME and so I don't have to excuse myself at a convenient moment to discretely go wash my hands." :thumbsup2
The "community pens" at doctor's offices are the worst. Do people really not think twice about using those? i always use a pen out of my purse. The gross clipboard they give you for paperwork at the doctor's office is just wrong, too.

In the short term...a lot.

In the long term...very little.

This isn't the first pandemic although in our lifetimes, it's the first one that has had such a profound effect on everyone. But over time, the things that right now are completely frowned upon, were normal just 30 days ago and will be normal again.

I’m curious about summer (sleep away) camps for kids. Do you think they’ll be cancelled this summer?
Yes I do. My son volunteers at our 4H camp every year. I was thinking they probably won't have it this year and it may have been the last year he would have been able to go. It made me sad to think about it. He loves it and the kids all do too

I agree completely.

if this goes on for years (which I don’t think it will) I could see more changes being permanent. But we easily forget and will go about our normal lives soon enough. Especially once the media chills out. And we have a vaccine is released.

I think if those working from home are successful during this period, we will see a lot of companies moving to remote work and telecommuting in order to save cost on real estate and office-related expenses. I work for a large banking entity, and my department was working from home two days a week prior to all of this in order to save on space in the building. Space is charged to each department's budget, and we were able to have less space by rotating team members working from home throughout the week. With the virus, we are all 100% remote now and I can see this staying the same going forward if its successful.

Buffets for sure. I stopped going to them long ago. Got tired of seeing little kids reaching with dirty fingers into the food, people coughing and sneezing around the food, and generally wondering when was the last time they washed their hands. Ick!
