News Round Up 2020

I know we were talking about Kingdom Keepers the other day and saw this tweet from the writer saying Dis ey asked him to update all the existing books to match the current parks (so take out references to this vs that are gone, etc) so the new book has been pushed back to March '21

Granted, I have not read these books, but one of my sons has. I’m not sure I like this decision by Disney. I understand their wanting new audiences to be able to relate to the story (via their own past or future experiences). But, I also think it might spark some interest in Disney “history” and nostalgic conversations with parents/grandparents about what an attraction was like.

hopefully they are marked as "updated" or something so it is clear. I definitely get the idea as if I was a kid reading these for the first time I would want them to fit with what I know in the parks ... though at the same time, will they continually be updated? What happens when Guardians and Tron open? Will it cover Future World as the current construction zone?

Does mention there is a new book coming out - maybe it just makes sense to keep the books current with what the parks were when the books came out and then keep them evolving - so new books would reference the current parks.

Only other thing - did make me wonder if this has any connection with then converting them to a show as I assume Disney would want the show to be current with the parks if it is a newly produced show

I would love to see the series expand globally....I sure Ridley wouldn't balk at having to visit all of the global parks for research...........hummmmm......I think he needs ME for a research assistant!!

I like these. But, they're too short! I wish they'd spent ~30 minutes or so in each area. Would have loved to have seen details in the sculpture studio. And, would have been interesting how they used their VR to add things (or remove things) to various attractions due to using it..

I agree - this one especially they were like "now we will take a ride on Radiator Springs Racers .... " and it's over, it barely started when it cut off

Not sure if it applies to all Six Flags but we got an email from ours that they will extend season passes into the beginning of the 2021 season by however many days they miss operating this year.

Corporate posted a letter a few weeks ago that a large list (most if not all 6 flags) will be closed and season passes/memberships will be extended by the number of months that are missed. Also everyone gets an upgrade to the next level pass.

Does anyone else find it ironic they have as much documentary as they had actual show so far? Desperately reaching for popular content...

this one definitely feels like putting out something quick for a popular property and reminding people about it, etc.

Was just thinking the other day that too bad they didn't have one of the Marvel show sready to go to be released around now, would likely get a lot of eyeballs. A lot of the new content now, while some is enjoyable, nothing seems as high quality as the Mandelorian or Imagineering Story

Not quite. Passes get extended by the number of operating days closed and no upgrade. Memberships get month to month extensions and an upgrade.

That’s their policy for passes at all parks. They have not elaborated whether that means operating days closed for your park or all parks.

Still doesn't address the people that have a membership and have for years like we have. We pay monthly and have for 5 years, we have a good deal and so long as we keep paying we keep that rate, but while I like the rate it doesn't address my inability to go. I have to figure there are people that do the same with Disney as well, pay monthly and have been paying monthly for years...saying that you are giving us bonus time for the park being closed doesn't mean anything to us
