How Worried Should We Be?

No political discussion please.

How worried should we be about the large groups of Protestors as it relates to a possible new outbreak of Covid-19?

Is it really something that could cause a MAJOR new spread or is it something that will have minimal to no impact?

Hoping we have turned the corner for good with the Virus!

Time will tell ... we will likely know the answer in a few weeks time.

Like everyone, hoping no surge. We are all ready to get back to some form of normalcy.

Personally, I have relaxed a little bit about Covid (although I do wear a mask when out) but I have let my daughter have a friend over. I am itching to travel, but waiting it out a little longer to see if cases surge now that things are opening up.

My son is going to a get together for the first time tonight. An outside bonfire sort of thing. He has also been working. I wear a mask in the stores but not the convenient stores because no one else does. I’m interested in seeing what happens after the protests too.

Since we are in the same area, what do you think about DeWine giving in and letting amusement parts open?

We will know in another 2-3 weeks. Its all wait and see right now.

Its possible the virus is losing its foothold and if there aren't tons of outbreaks after the protest this will be a good sign of this.

Its also possible the virus still has the same ability to spread but was just hiding behind reduced numbers from social distancing. If this is true we will most certainly see outbreaks in the next few weeks.

My wife is an advanced practitioner in a major hospital and a lot of doctors share this view. The medical community seems to be waiting and watching as well.

Well after Cedar Fair filed a lawsuit on Dr. Amy Acton, I am not shocked he is allowing them to reopen in 2 weeks.

It will be interesting to see what safety protocols are enacted. Off hand, my best guess is that you will have to buy date specific tickets online, and masks will be essential. I am sure they are looking at what Universal is doing as well as Shanghai Disney.

Once again, I don't want to be the guinea pig and I will wait it out a bit to see how things go. But I really want to ride Orion!

My husband, the definition of introvert, said he wouldn’t go to kings island now. I said you never go anyway! Crazy man!
We aren’t in a big hurry to go although we had talked about going to cedar point with extended family. It can wait till next year.

No big outbreak after the lake of the Ozarks Memorial Day bash is encouraging.

Our daughter had a traditional indoor graduation last week. So far no reports of new cases from that. Our county's new cases have averaged 2 a day since May 17th.

I'm still cautious as there are outbreaks in other parts of our state.

I’m already seeing FB posts from protestors saying any new outbreaks are fromMemorial Day gatherings, not from protests.

I think this is the only possible answer at this time. We had a large demonstration in our downtown area on Wednesday of over 2,000 people and most not masked. Here we are able to self-refer for free testing and our city's mayor is publicly pleading with participants to get tested if for no other reason than to provide insight into just what risk might be involved in large gatherings. We are all very interested in the results.

That is funny about your husband.

I am a textbook introvert and I am getting antsy. My guess we will likely go to Kings Island (since it is right here) late summer if reports are good.

I was very happy to not hear of mass outbreaks after the 1 guy who was in the Ozarks tested positive. And according to his locations, he hit very busy location with lots of people.

Still cautious here too. But if after all the protests and cases don't surge, I will feel more comfortable about going out.

Don't know, but crossing my fingers. I am hoping that being outside will help. Even warmer weather might help, because it seems like warm air would cause droplets to evaporate more quickly. At least I hope so.

I think it's a wait and see thing. I did see a recent virus map that shows that cases of the virus are spiking up again in the southern states (which either resumed normal operations before us northerners did or they never ceased) especially coastal areas where people are crowding the beaches. My area is green now and i see a lot of people acting like that means we can return to normal and I have a feeling cases are going to jump here as well and we're all going to end up locked down again. Sigh.

Florida is seeing a large increase in cases as we go to Phase 2 reopening. These new cases can't be from the protests as it is to soon. Most likely, they are from Memorial weekend. Very concerning to see these numbers go up as they open bars, movie theaters, summer camps and all of the theme parks reopen.

I am very concerned as to what the fall will bring. I don't think we will get people to quarantine again the way we did previously. I do think we will see a large increase in fatalities due to the virus.

I'm actually a little curious how police departments are going to be hit. Most law enforcement, when not in riot gear, don't appear to be wearing masks, which means they aren't protecting one another from any exposure. Maybe their thought process is that they all have to be in the community anyway, so it's pointless, but they sure have all been around a LOT of people in close quarters lately. Protestors and others can stay home if they get ill, but if departments start seeing a spike in cases, things could get interesting.

Just wondering what peoples' thoughts are on this. I have been watching the numbers over time and the numbers in the northeast are slowly declining while the numbers in many southern states have been rising. Could any of this be weather related? Here in the northeast, the numbers seem to be dropping even though restrictions have been slowly easing. I feel like it's partly because the weather has been so nice that people are outside a lot more than they were back in March/ April when the numbers were skyrocketing here. OTOH, I have family in FL and they had been spending a lot of time in their yards etc... back in the spring and now it is so hot that they are staying inside more with the AC.
